Guests tell me the photos don't do the cottage and property justice. Read our reviews. Very private. Clean. Lots of space. Drive down to the beach. The East side of Seneca Lake has lots of sun and beautiful sunsets. New 100 foot dock. New windows and doors. Close to wineries, college campuses, and Sampson State Park. Ten miles from Geneva for shopping, movies, and food. Two Five Star restaurants within 15 miles. Each year we renovate another part of our little cottage and many of our guests and their pets return every year. One bedroom with two double beds and a large living room with one pull out couch can sleep 4. Cottage is 880 square feet so best for 2-4 people. Cozy but maybe too small for anyone over 6 foot 2 or over. New kitchen appliances, cupboards, air conditioning, and microwave. We added a pellet stove for visits in the early spring or late fall for wine tours, an aluminum boat for fishing, a canoe and kayak for sunsets on the lake. For further information, call or e-mail me. It is a lovely place to relax.
Enjoy the quiet - pets welcome. Guests and their pets return every year. One of the few places with no stairs to the lake. Everyone enjoys swimming in the lake, laying on the dock, visiting the wineries (we have three within 7 miles) and local restaurants. Others have ventured to Ithaca, Rochester, and Canandaigua to visit museums, gourmet restaurants, and historic sites. The bedroom is above the lake so when you wake up in the morning, you feel like you are on a boat, overlooking the lake. The kitchen and dining area are on the bottom floor and look right out onto the water. There are many places to walk including a two mile hike up to Sampson State Park.
If you need to get away from the stress of your life, this is the place.
Enjoy the Lake: This is NOT for you IF you want a high energy vacation. See the herons land on the dock each evening and the ducklings come by each morning. The waves will rock you to sleep. Swim and kayak during the day. Take out the rowboat to fish. Have beach fires at night and visit our many wonderful wineries and restaurants nearby. No cable TV (just DVD movies). No internet but if you want, you can smart phone your way into the busy life of your workplace. We suggest you don't. Just relax and get away. This is truly the country and as our friend Simon always says, 'They aren't building any more lakes.'
My family purchased the property in the 1960s and over the years we added rooms and renovated what was a little boathouse into a full functioning cottage right on the lake. No one is allowed to build this close to the lake anymore but we were grandfathered since the building was here before that ruling. Each year I add something new. In 2015, it was a 100 foot permanent dock, new doors and new windows. In 2015, I retired from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where I had been a professor since 1984. Some people retire to the south. I retired back home to the north. I have two adult children who help me with the cottage (Until they graduate from college). I have been renovating and renting this cottage for 10 years. It has been great meeting nice people (and their pets) and having them return year after year.
Cindy Lont, owner purchased this cottage in 1960
The difference between this cottage and the others on the lake is the location. It is very private with over 280 feet of lake shore just for you. There are no stairs going down to the lake like other cottages. You walk out the door, two steps off the deck and you are 6 feet from the water. You park your car down on the beach. It is private, quiet, and you can relax. No landline phones, no internet, no cable. Lots of DVDs, CDs, books, swimming, sun and boating. Want to leave work behind? This is the place.
My parents always had a house on Seneca lake for summers. After 40 years, I finally live on the lake year round. The cottage property is so beautiful. I love the fires at night, the sunsets and swimming off the dock. Every night is a different sunset.
The location and privacy of the cottage cannot be beat, not many rentals have so much lake front and privacy. Cindy has thought of everything you might need - from bath towels to paper towels to cutlery - the cottage has it. The wine trails are really great but my husband and I also enjoyed some of the local golf courses and hiking trails (Watkins Glen Gorge Trail is a must!). This is a perfect, relaxing getaway in a great, private location.
Cindy was an amazing host! She gave us our space but was there for any questions. We felt so welcomed. It would be impossible not to be enchanted by this lakeside cottage. We had the lakefront to ourselves and it was perfect for snuggling up and watching the sunset on the dock. Waking up to the sound of waves was just as magical. Our little dog LOVED the cottage just as much as we did. There is a lovely place only a few miles down the road that has 3 wineries and a brewery in one location if that is your niche. And I can't forget the fall foilege! Beautiful. Cannot say enough about how relaxing this trip was!
We had a great stay at this property. The location on the lake would be hard to beat. It was convenient to restaurants, breweries and wineries. The property itself was accurately described in the listing and was immaculate. There is a new dock that was very enjoyable to sit and relax on. We also enjoyed taking the canoe out on the lake. Cindy was very helpful and made us and our dogs feel welcome. We hope to stay here again!
The cottage had views to die for. It was secluded but exactly what we were looking for. Cindy is an amazing and personable owner who attends to every detail. We found our home for our next return to the lake.
Cindy is so nice and helpful! The house is exactly as described and perfect. My two dogs LOVED it. Being able to go right outside the front door and be in the lake was their favorite, I know because that's what they did every time I let them out. We used the fire pit and there was plenty of kindling and fire wood. We will definitely stay here again, Thanks again Cindy for a great weekend.
We had a great time, the cottage has everything you need, very private and beautiful views. All you need to bring is food and drink Cindy has thought of everything else.
