Just Beautiful 👌🇫🇷
We arrived very late, but as soon as we entered the gates we knew we had made the best decision.
The Gite was just perfect, rustic and full of character, everything we were looking for.
We were welcomed with some essentials and some treats and a smiling face.
Hubert was a great host, honest and kind, and always there if we needed him.
Definitely be returning.
The location is very rural, so a car or bikes are a must. Shops are not too far away around 5-10 minutes drive, and there is plenty of choice. There is loads to see locally but also a great base for travelling the north and north east of France.
Thank you for a fantastic stay.
Beautiful holiday cottage in rural France
We have stayed in quite a few French gites over the years and this has to be our favourite property so far. Despite being very rural and in the middle of no-where, the property has been renovated to a high standard - the photos do not do it justice! A lot of thought and care has gone into equipping the property (especially the kitchen) with everything a family needs for a home away from home. There was space for us to all spread out and relax inside or out and the beds were particularly comfortable. The property owners live close by and were very friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated the welcome groceries left in the fridge on our arrival - a Godsend after a hellish journey.
The only small downside was that there are no shops or anything of interest in the village, or the next village or even the one after that. The nearest place to buy bread and milk is a 10-15 minute drive away so a car is essential. There are plenty of places to visit within an hour’s drive - we particularly recommend Parc d’Isle near St Quentin, Castle of Coucy and the Resistance museum in Tergnier.
We spent a lovely 10 days in this lovely property and we hope to re-visit again soon.
We will be back next year!
A great holiday! A very warm welcome from our hosts got the holiday off to a wonderful start and it continued to be a great experience. The gite was very comfortable, spacious and extremely well equipped. The village and the surrounding countryside were attractive and very tranquil - ideal for a quiet break away from it all. And the local towns had a plethora of interesting places to visit and good places to eat. We are looking forward next year to seeing some of the sights we did not have time to visit.
Rustic house in working farming village
The village is very quiet, a proper working farming community, well kept, small enough to stroll from one end to the other. The house is really easy to find, big parking area next to terrace and garden. The house has a great, large living area, with large log fire, and the living room opens on to the terrace. Electric heaters everywhere kept the whole place warm - we were there at Christmas with outside temperatures close to zero and it was fine. Comfortable beds. Very well-equipped kitchen. Great welcome when we arrived, and lovely conversation with the owner when we left. Big supermarket relatively close by, or go to Auchan in St Quentin (which sells wood and kindling etc). Lots of trips out, the house has a lot of guidebooks on the area, but Laon, Pierrefonds, Compiègne, Coucy are all good. We felt very comfortable in the house and would recommend it if you want to stay in a big, rustic place with a nice outdoor area.
Beautiful, well equipped house in a tranquil setting
Enjoyed a peaceful 3 night break at this lovely house in October, the only thing that could have been better is the weather! Well equipped with all necessary appliances, comfortable beds and living space, plenty of crockery, cutlery etc. Games for the wet weather!
Nice touch of milk and juice in the fridge, oils and vinegars for cooking.
Couldn't fault the place, highly recommended.
relaxing get away
We enjoyed the quiet village of Anguilcourt-le-Sart for a week. We were welcomed warmly and the owners live very close. The rental was clean and spacious for 4 of us. Having 2 toilets was a blessing. It is perfectly located in between St. Quentin and Laon near the highway. A car is a must.
We had good wifi, but the phone signals were non-existent. However, there's a house phone, which was both good and bad. Bad because we got calls all day inquiring about the rental and after a few we just ignored it. (I got a permission toward the end of our stay to unplug the phone if necessary. :)
There's pretty much everything you need to cook with (except special seasonings), and the grocery stores in La Fere are about 10 minutes away. This was our favorite stay in France!
