About Caroline Simon
We are four siblings. One manages the stables on the ranch and lives nearby. Another lives on a boat. The third is also a horsewoman, specializing in dressage and horse health. The fourth lives in Washington DC and spends much of the year wishing she was at the ranch. But not as much as her two daughters who have grown up spending summers at horse camp and loving everything about the ranch, from the wild blackberries, the hot days and cool evenings and the many joys of country living.
Why Caroline Simon chose Santa Rosa
Our parents fell in love with California when they first came to Calistoga in the 1960s. It was a dream come true when our father retired and they bought this ranch. Sonoma County reminded them of France, their native country: the vineyards, the beautiful agricultural lands, the farm-fresh foods. And the weather was always better than Normandy! They planted a vineyard, with acres of Merlot and a few other varietals, and our mother tended to the vines and her Chicken Château. Our sister manages the horse stables on the property. It is known as a place where kids and adults enjoy riding. In the summer, the school offers horse camps for kids during which riders of all levels ride, learn to care for horses, make friends and relax by the creek. Some of her students now send their kids to the camp. It is a special place.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house is on preserved agricultural land. We consider it the perfect amount of nature--you are surrounded by trees and animals (horses from the stables nearby, cows and sheep from the farm across the street, hummingbirds), but you are also minutes away from fabulous restaurants, farmers markets, scenic countryside and the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma.

Great Off the Grid Getaway!
some friends and I stayed for a weekend of wine and fun. the wineries were a bit further out but the tranquility of the ranch was worth the drive. The bedrooms were nice and clean. The towels and sheets were precisely labeled. Kitchen was well stocked with common items. There's a fireplace in the living room perfect for cold nights. For warmer weather, there is a cute outdoor patio to grill, eat and enjoy the natural surroundings. Ashame we didn't get to spend more time at the property. Would definitely come back again!
Thank you Caroline for your kind accommodations and quick responses. You made checking in and out flawless!
Tip to travelers: The area has little/no reception unless you're on wifi. Download your maps before heading in/out to help your uber drivers navigate.
Wonderful Mountain retreat
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. Loved how quiet it was and tucked away. Awesome to watch the horses in the field behind the house as well.

Perfect Napa Girls Retreat
Myself and a few friends stayed here for my birthday. It was the perfect location if you are interested in covering a lot of area, as it is near Santa Rosa, Napa, and Yountville. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend booking this cottage!
Dear Jacki, I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and had a happy birthday. Please come visit us again. And thank you for taking such good care of the cottage.
Lovely secluded house in great location
Loveland clean house with a perfect location. 15 minutes from both Santa Rosa and Calistoga so you can easily go both ways to see attractions
Dear Rebecca, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your review.
charming and peaceful.
This home is a gem...shhhhhhh. Keep it quiet. Don’t tell anyone. We can not wait to return. Cozy... bring some slippers and a warm sweater or wrap for colder months. But coffee and tea on the couch in front of the fireplace. So many beautiful birds.. and horses out the bedroom windows. Everything you could ever need. Beautiful winding ride up and the ride down has beautiful vistas. This spot is truly special. Thank you Caroline!
Dear Amy, Thank you for staying at the Farmhouse and for your wonderful review. And thank you for your lovely painting of the mustard fields. It is a little piece of you at the cottage. We hope you will come again.
