Oakhurst was originally built in the 1930s with subsequent sympathetic extensions. It stands in its own grounds exceeding 1 acre and includes a hard, enclosed tennis court. There is a large patio with water feature and BBQ with outdoor lighting. There are numerous mature oaks and other trees at the front, with extensive lawns at the rear and a large area for parking. The kitchen has been completely rebuilt with a twin electric ovens and a gas hob; an American-style fridge/freezer and a drinks cooler. There is a breakfast bar and a separate dining table; washing machine and dryer. The bathrooms have been re-tiled and fitted with new power showers. There is an open fireplace in the lounge and a pool table, with separate dining and TV rooms and a dedicated WiFi connection. The Pilgrim pub and restaurant is 8 mins walk away; the New Forest is less than half a mile away and the sea can be reached on foot in 15 mins. There is an 18 hole golf course 2 miles down the road to Hythe

We rented Oakhurst for three days for a university friends' reunion (7 adults; 4 kids). The house was perfect! It is very spacious, well-equipped and has large grounds. We loved the big, open fireplace and spacious kitchen/breakfast room. The kids made full-use of the tennis court and pool table. I would definitely recommend Oakhurst for any large gathering.
We have just returned from another wonderful long weekend at Oakhurst. As always, the house was exceptionally clean and the beds very comfortable. Whilst the property is large, it gets very cosy and warm, perfect to relax in on a cold winters night. My boys made great use of the tennis court and football posts throughout our stay. they absolutely loved being there and hated leaving. We would thoroughly recommend this property to those with and without children as it certainly caters for all.
We have just had an amazing weekend away for my husbands surprise birthday with our friends. The photos of the lounge and kitchen don't show how large the rooms really are there were 10 adults and we could all be in the same room comfortably. Lots of outside space were the men enjoyed basketball. Great location and easy to find, perfect for walks and relaxing. The bedding was abit dated but everything was clean. Close to the local pub were we all had an amazing roast! We would recommend this property
We loved Oakhurst (the name of the property). It's a great place for a group of friends to base themselves when holidaying in the New Forest. It's accessable, incredibly spacious (the photos don't do it justice), and there's plenty to do in the local area. The kitchen was impressively stocked (plenty of pans, and a couple of food processors, which is rare) and the tennis court has been well maintained.
Nearby there's a decent local golf course (both an 18 hole and a 9 hole course, so players of any ability can enjoy), and there's plenty of choice of local rental companies if you want to go biking around NF (we used Cyclexperience) or Sea Kayaking.
Mick (the owner of the property) was incredibly communicative throughout - I found him personable and really easy to deal with.
All in all a highly recommended holiday destination.
Stunning! We've just had a family weekend in Oakhurst and the place is just perfect for families, with ample space to accommodate us all. Great cooking facilities and well maintained bathrooms and bedrooms. the pool table kept the boys busy, along with the tennis courts and spacious gardens. we would recommend Oakhurst to anybody and when we plan our next gathering, we'll be back. a big thank you to the owners.
We had a great stay at this house for a friends get together. The house was large, clean and had a great homely feel. The bedrooms were laid out well and the 3 bathrooms were clean and modern. The downstairs living space was great with enough room for everyone. We all enjoyed the pool table, tennis courts and garden which were great for the kids and kept them entertained! The owner was helpful and responsive via e-mail. We will definitely be returning!!!
Oakhurst is located about half a mile south of Marchwood on the road to Hythe. It is on the eastern fringe of the New Forest and within the new National Park. You can walk to Hythe, where there is a regular ferry service to Southampton, along a country lane and a public footpath via Hythe marina. Hythe and Marchwood have numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and local amenities. The New Forest has obvious attractions such as the ponies and the picturesque village of Beaulieu which is about 5 miles away. Southampton is a major city and port with several new shopping centres and a Premier League football team.
