Guestbook comments from the owner

We have enjoyed our week here. You trully have a beautiful, serene, peaceful place and it was ideal for all of us, (dogs and kids).

We had a great time fishing, making campfires and just being able to relax and let the dogs and kids experience the freedom of the outdoors.

We look forward to coming again.

We loved the tranquil seclusion of this cabin in the woods. Our family of four needed a break from the urban life and a bit of yankee hospitality. This cabin was more than we could have ever expected. The deck is amazing so much so we enjoyed all of our meals outdoors soaking up the view, the sounds, and the fresh air. The surrounding woods hide the cabin from the passing world. Your next neighbor on the shoreline is the Canadian border patrol dock. The fishing was non-stop and my children had to be told to stop and come in after dark. The cabin had all we needed, small kitchen, a modest bathroom, sitting room with a large bed, and a loft for the children. We didn't use the TVs...why would you? So the review about it not working was a good thing for us. A fabulous place to unplug and connect to your favorite people. The hill down to the water was steep but short and forced you to slow things down. The beach was small but cozy and just enough. My working dog could be a free-range dog and he loved it as much as we did.

Time to relax

  • 2 of 5

This cottage as the spot to relax and enjoy the nature. Would a been perfect if it was for the way to small kitchen, it is ok for 2 people. When arriving, please ask the owner to show you around. We were charge for the thermostat that broke but didn't even touch it or know it was there. The Tv in the master bedroom didn't work either. For the price we paid for 3 days in march, the owner should fix these little things before renting. Great outdoor for the dogs.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry our guest was not satisfied with our service. We try to meet our guest to show the workings of our cottage. 'First and foremost thermostat was in perfect order and we always ask our guest to please email or call if there are any questions for we are more than happy to answer what we can. The problem if I remember correctly, Julian mentioned he did not believe in Cell phones so he did not have one with him. There is a phone at North Point but for local calls only. I personally was there to greet our guest and showed them the workings of North Point. Thermostat is very important and in the winter and spring it is what regulates the kitchen heat. Julian was shown the thermostat and simple control of which works by sliding the small indicator right for higher heat or left for lower heat. What Julian did before leaving is he closed the gas nozzle to shut the propane fireplace off of which results in no heat to kitchen and in March pipes still freeze with below freezing weather. The fireplace has its own regulator so unless one asks for more heat it does not need to be touched. I found odd Julian mentioning the fireplace not working since I had checked before their arrival. We always leave low setting when there is no one at North Point but raise the setting upon ones arrival. As for the TV in bedroom suite, truthfully I do not remember whether I showed Julian how to work it but it is done by remote control. We are fortunate Julian phoned us when he arrived to his home on his wife's urging to let us know he had turned off the propane to the fireplace. I then immediately drove back to North Point to turn on fireplace of which was not turning on. I phoned in our gas co. It seems when Julian turned off fireplace another button was also shut, of which I did not know about for we have never used it. We in turn sent Julian the service bill. We have rented North Point for many years and have never had a complaint, for everyone have found it a delight. We are sorry this had to be the first negative feed back but everyone is entitled to their say. Cliff and I try to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as we can and if anyone has questions, answer quickly to make it an easy and restful stay. Guest have come and gone and we feel all are special and in some, wonderful friendships have been made. We have been very fortunate. We feel this could have been remedied by one phone call and think maybe putting in long distance phone

A lovely cottage with gorgeous gardens on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The lake was beautiful. We all enjoyed our time there. The cottage decor was lovely. It had comfortable beds and very cozy rooms. The deck was a beautiful place to enjoy meals together while gazing at the lake. The house was clean and well-maintained. The owners were very accommodating. Our family enjoyed having breakfast at the amazing buffet at The East Side and coffees and lunch at The "Natural Cafe" in town. We also had fun going up to the Lavender Farm and Magog one day.We rented bikes in town and road on the bike trail from town along the lake. It was our first time in the Northeast Kingdom. a perfect escape before the end of our summer break.

A perfect spot to unwind and to enjoy nature

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed renting this outstanding property for seven summers, and we intend to continue well into the future. Casual and comfortable, the cottage commands a nearly 180-degree view of Lake Memphremagog, and the wrap-around deck is perfect for keeping an eye on the ever-changing light and cloud shadows on the lake, as well as the wildlife and sailboats. The property enjoys considerable seclusion - it's a perfect place to relax and find solitude. We love the swimming and canoeing from the private dock and beach area. The attractive town of Newport is an easy drive for supplies and entertainment. Northern Vermont is a special world, and this property is a perfect refuge from which to explore it. We greatly appreciate the owners' permission to bring our beloved dog with us to this great spot. She loves it as much as we do!
