Absolutely the best cottage on the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

This was our first attempt at staying in a VRBO while traveling to Hawaii.

We stayed Wednesday 10/4-10/11. The island was not crowded due to the iron man competition the following week.

The property has a gate for restricted access, we loved that. The property has the best welcoming committee; Frick, Frack, and little Chucky.

Our host, Candi Baker, was responsive before the actual stay and most accommodating during our stay. She recommended places to eat, places to visit, and provided us a fruit and coffee basket upon arrival. All from the farm where the cottage is located. She let us have access to any of the produce on the property including papayas, star fruits, lemons, limes, bananas, kumquats, and avocados. The mango tress just finished producing before we arrived. What a bonus that was for us!

The cottage had a great lanai, the WiFi was strong and reliable, the kitchen was small but adequate for our needs. The bathroom was good enough for both of us. The cottage was near the town of Captain Cook, so it was high enough in elevation for warm days and cool nights. It's centrally located for all your island adventures. Candi, produces her own coffee and it was very good. The cottage comes with a bean grinder to enhance the Kona coffee experience. This is primarily a couples cottage. This is by far the best value on the island in my four previous trips. Thanks Candi, we will be back!

South Kona Cottage relaxation with a panoramic view

  • 5 of 5

Great location in south Kona. Nice cottage for two in an idyllic setting on the slopes of a coffee plantation. Satellite flat screen TV was never used as sunsets on the lanai were more compelling. It was only 15 minutes into Kona for shopping and dining, and 5 minutes from a full service supermarket. We strongly recommend this cottage.

Beautiful views of kealakekua bay, cozy one bedroom jewel

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located centrally to restaurants, shops and stores. Located up mauka (mountain) this beautiful cottage is inside a gated property offering extreme privacy, quietness and tranquil setting. Candi who is the care taker of the property greeted us and was extremely friendly, welcoming and funny. Shes awesome, make sure to spend a few minutes talking to her about the property and the coffee farm she operates on the premises. She left us alone for the remainder of the stay but was available for any questions we had. The cottage is a short walk from the main house which is absolutely gorgeous. The pool is available and we took a nice swim, the pool is part of the main house but accessible if you stay in the cottage. No one else was on property so we had the place to ourselves. Extremely private and quiet. There are two dogs, frik and frak which are adorable and super friendly, theyll come say hello if they see you. Overall this place was awesome, would love to stay here again. Super private, really quiet, really comfortable. Internet is a bit slow, no dvd, they have dish satellite available for one tv in the cottage. No tv in the bedroom which is fine.. we used our laptop to watch a couple movies. Really clean, really comfortable. Bring mosquito spray if you get bit easily like me.. but its Hawaii so nothing new. Great stay for sure!

Quaint and cool

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at the cottage. Candi was a friendly, engaging, and helpful host. The cottage itself, though quaint and simple as described, fit our needs perfectly. The view is amazing, and the location superb. Short drive down to great snorkeling and kayaking. Nearby food shopping is excellent and 20 min to Kona for restaurants. But the highlight for us was the gorgeous swimming pool that we were lucky to have for ourselves on this trip. We will be back!...Oh, almost forgot, Candi's dog's Frick and Frack were great hosts too.

Great location with a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quaint cottage, and Candi was a wonderful host. The location was perfect for us - away from the busy Kona area but close enough for a short drive to anywhere on the west coast. Breakfast with a view from the lanai each morning was a treat. Cottage was just the right size for the two of us. Would highly recommend for a couple! Thanks for a wonderful stay, Candi!

An amazing place to stay!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place to stay! The cottage is quaint and perfect for a couple. The view from the lanai (porch), which overlooks the mountainside all the way down to the coast, is lush and tropical. Located in the middle of a fruit plantation, you can walk out to pick fresh mangoes and papaya. Candi, the caretaker, is personable and helpful with whatever you might need. We would definitely stay there again! I miss it already!
