Why Kent Moore chose Catawba
140 acres of rolling forest, a natural spring, tennis courts, and a private lake provide the ideal wilderness sanctuary in luxurious comfort. Fish, put a boat in Lake Norman, play tennis, grill out, or hike the property to its rear boundary where the Catawba river gives way to the largest man made lake in North Carolina. You may see deer, ducks, wild turkey, or any number of flora and fauna as you explore this unique property that predates the Civil War.

Family Thaksgiving on the Mooreland Homestead
Simply a wonderful property for a family celebration! Rustic, lovely, fantastic kitchen, beautiful spaces, yet reminded me of visiting my father's family in rural Georgia growing up. The seven of us staying at the house and the local part of the family had plenty of space to spread out and gather together. The grandchildren, ages 4-19, loved everything about it, from the tennis courts to the pond to the chess table! All of the adults were very impressed as well. Would love to know more about the property and buildings. We will definitely be back in the future!
Trish thanks so much for staying with us!! So glad all generations found things to do and interest in the property. A bit more info per your anecdotal curiosity about the Moreland Farmstead: it has been in the family for six generations going back to 1831. The main house was built in 1889, and restored in 2017. The log cabin was built in the 1770s, and restored in 2019. My great, great, great, grandfather was a revolutionary war general, by the name of John Moore. My father and his 4 brothers grew up on the farm working the fields and tending the livestock with their father, while their mother ran the household unassisted, and also was the sole teacher in the one-room school in Catawba, NC, down the road. Perhaps the Moore history was a bit like your own of rural Georgia, in some ways! Thanks again, and have a great holiday season. -Kent Moore, manager
This house was perfect for our family vacation. With the land, pond, tennis courts, and vicinity to Lake Norman - this house was great!
Jared was a delight to have as our guest. He left the house in extremely good order and even put the garbage bags outside for the crew! We hope he and his family come back soon!
A Beautiful Retreat
Our family had an amazing vacation here enjoying the lake, playing pickleball, and board games. A bathroom for each room and a big family kitchen and dining room made it easy for all of us to have our own space as well. The property is gorgeous and serene with wildlife around. Canoeing on the pond was a delight. Kent was a gracious host and made us feel so welcome.
Ladies Tennis Group
Your home was the perfect respite for our trip to Lake Norman for the State Championships. The 8 of us loved your home with all the bathroom and fantastic kitchen to gather and cook meals. The private tennis court was a luxury and the front porch was such a peaceful setting for drinks - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovingly restored home!
Erin and her tennis companions were the perfect guests. They were proactive in caring for our property and even asked if they could strip the beds or take our the trash! We were humbled by her kind appreciation of our place, and so thankful she chose to stay with us. Highest respect and appreciation.
