|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Watch the sun set over the island of Lanai from your Maui lanai (porch). Whales, waves, and palm trees are also part of your view.
House has open-beam ceilings, bamboo-wood floors throughout, unique décor and personal touches that give this house a charming and comfortable setting. An additional outdoor shower with private enclosure gives you an added option of enjoying the jungle surroundings, with a warm shower under a fragrant plumeria tree after a day at the beach.
The house has a master bedroom with a queen bed, plus a smaller bedroom/library with a single bed. The property sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, with the 2nd child on an air mattress or futon. There is a large living room, with a newly updated full kitchen and dining area. The lanai (porch) can be used for breakfast or dinner, with a double hammock for lounging about and watching the sunset. The kitchen is fully updated for a light and beautiful cooking area.
The house is furnished with the highest quality items such as 100% cotton sheets, Italian dishes, and original art. The house is fully equipped with washer/dryer, barbeque, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and free internet access.
The area is a family neighborhood on a quiet street that receives little traffic. The property is a 15 minute walk to Kiawakapu Beach. At night you can often hear the ocean from the lanai.
The neighborhood itself is located in South Maui ("the sun coast"). In this area it rarely rains, and it is usually sunny with cool ocean breezes. From this part of the island you can see the islands Kaho'olawe, Lana'I, and Molokini. To the south is the Wailea Resort area, only one block from the house. Wailea is the most exclusive part of Maui with 4 golf courses and scores of shops and restaurants, including the luxurious Shops of Wailea. It is also home to many hotels, including the Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, and Kea Lani.
To the north is Kihei, with more moderately priced restaurants ranging from local Deli's, Thai food, Sushi, and healthy eateries, and shops including video stores, movie theatres, and late night bars. All of this is within a 5 minute drive from the house. Best of all, Grace House is only a 10 minute drive to fantastic snorkeling, diving, and the State Park at Makena Beach. The area is also a wonderful place for biking. Maui is called No Ka Oi, which means "Maui is the best". Of all the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is the favorite; and the Wailea area is the best of Maui.
First timers to Maui, we had a wonderful stay. Was a very quiet neighborhood and loved the location. Cottage was very clean and comfortable, we did shop for food and cooked in for several meals. Would recommend Walmart in Kahului (best food prices). We brought a TomTom with which made getting around the Island very easy. So much to do and see. We loved the Road to Hana, we took two days to explore. We purchased R2H CD guide at ABC store which was very helpful, as some land marks came up pretty quick on road. State parks were awesome, Haleakala has two locations tip: once you pay to enter first park fee was good for entry into other parks for a few days, ask! Waianpanapa State park is a must see, is located just before Hana and there was no entry fee. We booked all our Ocean trips , Whale watching, dinner cruise, and snorkeling through Pacific Whale Foundation, had a great experience with them, we saw whales on every trip. Kihei has a lot of beaches and market places to shop. We loved our stay in Maui and would recommend this cottage to family and friends. We liked that there was no cable/local TV access (kept us off couch) , internet access worked great to update us on weather and social media. Grace Cottage met all our expectations and there we not surprises, which is always a plus. Thanks Christine!!
We arrived on time and the cleaning crew was running behind about an hour however they allowed us to at least drop off our luggage and groceries since we had already stopped at the store before our arrival. Do know that there are 2 houses on this lot and this property is the house farthest from the street. Just a little confusing at first. Very close to the beach which was nice. Great Sunset views. Very quiet area as well. Lovely undated kitchen. We do wish there was a TV/Cable connection however. We are big sports fans and would have loved been able to stay and have cooked a meal and watched them at the house versus going some where to watch them. Loved being able to have the washing machine and dryer available. Like others have said there isn't a dishwasher but this didn't bother us at all. Great location. Centrally located on the island. It was easy for us to go the North West shore one day. Easy drive to the Airport. Everything you need right there in Kihei. Beaches were beautiful and so close by. We will definitely remember this place if we ever come back to Maui or have friends who are headed there.
Cottage had all one needed for a stay in Maui. Near beach and restaurants but away from main rd just a little walk to beach. Private, well supplied nice views deck for outside eating, washer dryer all kitchen material for cooking what ever you want. Just great . Would like to return.
This is the third time we are staying at ths particular location on Maui. This house is our go-to rental property for this island, for a number of reasons:
1. The porch with ocean view. It is a-ma-zing! The owner recently installed a hammock there, which made it even more amazing. I love this porch - I am having my breakfast, my lunch and my dinner there. It has a cover too, so this is a place to wait out the excruciating mid-day tropical heat, and enjoy a little siesta.
2. The quiet location. This house stands lower than two neighboring houses, and above the rooftops of the condos down the hillside. There is actually a park (narrow one, but still a park) between this house and the next row of houses/condos. It is protected from the (very quiet) local road by the cottage. It is so quiet, that you only hear the birds and cicadas in the evening. For me, it is a key ingridient for the Aloha Lifestyle.
3. Proximity to the beaches. It is less than a mile away from Kamaole-3, and less than two miles away from Ulua and Mokapu. All the other great beaches are also within 15 minute drive. And it is close enough to Safeway, local shops, and shops at Wailea. Highway is 1 minute away.
Another huge bonus: recently renovated kitchen. We were the first to use it and we loved it! It is so clean and spacious, stocked up with everything you might need. Lots of counter space. Though one minor thing: no dishwasher, so you will have to wash your dishes and glasses. Does not bother me, but it might matter to some people.
Other bonuses: set of lifting weights you can use while enjoying the ocean view, high-speed internet (the owner just upgraded the connection). Also, there is an AC unit in the living room, although I admit we never engaged it (the weather was perfect every time we stayed here, Is there any other kind of weather on Maui?)
Highly recommended. I am planning to stay here again next time we are on Maui.
My wife and I spent 16 days in September of this year....everything about the space was all we could have asked for. An abundance of room for two people as we never used the second bedroom. Kitchen was fully stocked and we did eat in a good many times. As clean and tidy as you could ask for. Also very quite.
The location is great! You are about one block over and two blocks down from the beach. A very easy walk. Also, the Blvd. that fronts the beach for miles is Kehei and you can walk to many restaurants, liquor store, natural food mkt., and even supermarket if you're up to the hike.
Christine was very cordial and had an answers for all of our questions. It is a very easy half hour drive from the airport.
Would we stay here again? You bet!
My husband and I, our infant son and my adult cousin had the pleasure of spending nine days in this cottage. Aside from a small mishap upon our arrival (which was promptly resolved by the owner), we were very pleased and perfectly at home here.
We spent most of our time on the large, very private lanai, listening to the singing birds, watching whales breech (yes, you really can see them!) and enjoying the incredible sunsets.
The location was great. Just off the main hwy and a short walk or drive to Kam 3 beach with many other beaches, grocery stores, shopping close by. Just north of Wailea and on the south end of Kihei town. We found the house very well equipped and made use of the beach chairs, toys, cooler, snorkel gear, etc. With a little one, we appreciated having a washer and dryer. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off after the beach and although it is shared with the other cottage on the property, we never had any problems being able to use it.
The twin day bed in the second room is a little short and wouldn't work well for a tall person. The queen bed in the first room was fine for two. There was also a roll up mat that could be used for a small child. There were ceiling fans in each room which kept the cottage very comfortable. We never touched the A/C. The kitchen was well equipped. Had a blender, toaster, coffee maker and plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. We also made use of the charcoal grill.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again in a heartbeat! While it certainly wasn't fancy, it was more than sufficient. If you are looking for an affordable, private, quiet location that's close to everything, this is a wonderful place to be.
Cleaning fee charged for stays of less than 7 days.
Fifty percent of total to reserve. Balance due 3 weeks before the start of the stay.
