We were returning guests to this property because we fell in love with it and had to come back! It has recently been updated with fresh new paint colors and modern decor - looks beautiful Susan. This home has so much to offer, the character, charm and convenient location. You are walking distcance from things to do for all ages, restaurants, coffee shops, a small beach, children's museum and so much more!
We highly recommend you visit this property and enjoy the amazing and unique spaces it has to offer. We also really appreciate how clean and inviting it is and feel so greatful you share this property with families.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. So happy to hear you enjoy the house as much as I do! Look forward to your return..... Susan
Great summer rental in a great town.
The property was lovely, as advertised. Very spacious and accommodating inside, and the pool was great. The owner was very gracious and responsive. All of that, together with the proximity of the home to the harbor and the town of Rockland made it the perfect place to stay. We would definitely recommend the property to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Maine and we would definitely go back ourselves.
Great house and location!! Highly recommend!!!
Our family has rented this house for the last several years and we love it. There are lots of rooms for everyone to have alone time and two large rooms for everyone to gather, and the pool is great. Well equipped kitchen and dining options. Short walk to downtown and Jesse's seafood market, nice playground near by and the farmer's market on Thursday morning is down the street. Views of the harbor from both decks are delightful and make for a lovely cocktail hour. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
Perfect Family Vacation Home
My family of six adults and one toddler thoroughly enjoyed our week at this unique vacation home. The home (long ago a fish market) is architecturally interesting and well suited to families of all sizes. We had multiple living spaces in which to congregate. The home is very well epuipped, even offering a second kitchen to serve the pool area.
The views are spectacular, particularly in the evening from the upper deck.
The quick walk to the downtown area of Rockland gave us easy access to numerous restaurants, shops, art galleries and the Farnsworth Museum.
We were so content with the house, the pool, and the town that we barely left the area and enjoyed a particularly relaxing vacation together.
We also had the good fortune to be in Rockland for what was a picture perfect week full of sunny days.
We highly recommend this vacation home and plan to return this coming summer.
The view of Rockland Harbor form Atlantic Point is breath taking! The home is wonderful. It is very large and spacious to say the least and the location is perfect. The main street of Rockland with it’s shopping and museums is only a short walk away. The house is so beautifully laid out that everyone had lots of room and it is a great place for young children to play. We used the pool everyday and had dinner on one of the two patios every night.
The kitchen was beautifully equipped. It was a pleasure to prepare meals while looking at the sail boats coming in and out of the harbor. The beautiful view even made clean-up fun. Our granddaughter loved the children's museum which was just short walk down the road. There are many great restaurants but honestly it was more fun eating at the house. There is a great meat market and sea food market only a few blocks away. You can order your lobsters from Jess’s fish market and for only $3 they will cook your order for you and then you just go pick it up. Easy peasy! Mr. Wiggins owns the meat market just a block from the fish market and I had probably the best Delmonico steak I’ve ever eaten in my life from there. We enjoyed walking into town every day to see the wonderful art galleries, museums and to enjoy coffee and cookies at the bakery. The local people were gracious and welcoming. Susan was a great hostess and was prompt in returning our security deposit. We had a wonderful time.
A thousand things that the pictures displayed on the Homeaway site do not tell you about this property - for example:
• flooring that was peeling and stained,
• bed linen that was stained and marked,
* pillows that had not been replaced in a long time that smelt of previous occupants
* wooden furniture that was heavily marked and chipped,
• Loose pieces of chipboard lying randomly around the property
evidence of loose wiring,
• bedrooms that lacked basic window fittings,
• old bedsheets that were used as table cloths to hide very heavily marked and chipped tables (that were described to us as antique)
• smoke detectors which had significant parts missing from them (thus rendering them useless); and
• stained and marked furniture and floor mats
* crockery drawers and cupboards in kitchen a complete mess full of disorganised and random utensils along with remains of opened packets of food etc from previous occupants
It is a shame that when we addressed our issues with the owner, that she refused to acknowledge or address them and that we have had to escalate our dispute. Having stayed in many properties in Europe and the USA, this has got to be the most disappointing and most misrepresented one that i have ever stayed in. My advice is stay clear of this property ...!!!
Rockland, Maine is a great place for visiting and exploring Midcoast Maine. Historic Main Street provides local shopping and dining opportunities and day trips in any direction provide ample rewards...a ten minute drive to Camden Harbor, twenty minute drive to the quaint fishing village of Port Clyde where you can catch the ferry to Monhegan Island and just an hour and a half drive from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine. The Farnsworth Art Museum is a close walk along with numerous galleries and live entertainment at the Strand Theater. Penobscot Bay is the place to sail when the weather is fair on one of our many windjammers, islands to discover, mountains to climb in the spring and fall, and winter activities as well. Here you can return to the more simple life you may have never lived. Rockland people have always welcomed visitors and treated them with friendliness and respect. You will find a quality of life that will make you want to stay forever! Golf: Samoset Resort Golf Club is an 18 Hole PGA Oceanside course. Known as the 'Pebble Beach of the East' and is a 7 minute drive.
