John Carr purchased this house in 2005
Our family first started travelling to the garden island of Kauai approximately 10 years ago. After a few years of visiting we decided to pick up and move to the garden island and eventually had a home built on the North Shore of Kauai, in the quaint community of Princeville. The home was designed and built as a vacation rental home so we could share the surroundings with our valued guests.
I had the privelege of staying at this beautiful home 3/4-3/11 of 2008. My father inlaw rented it for 11 of us. It was nearly brand new, well taken care of and had all the amenities of home. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and there wasn't anything we needed, as it was all there (aside from the food). The King room bed was super comfortable and to our surprise there was a brand new pack and play our 2 year old was able to use (however she figured out how to crawl out of it during our stay). The lanai's were gorgeous, lawns and flowers beautiful and having DSL was a handy feature as well. We tried to use some boogie boards but most were broken...we were a little discouraged by that, but honestly that's the only thing I can think of that was not right. It is very close to shopping and beaches. Queen's Bath is a short hike away and neoghbors were friendly as well. We would definitely stay here again.
This is a beautiful home in a great neighborhood. The amenities in the facility are fabulous. The kitchen is excellent. I probably wouldn't go in late December again because of all the rain but staying inside here was still great. My only complaint was that the remote controls for both the downstairs and upstairs televisions did not work and we had no way of getting them fixed. Everything else about this place was great.
The house was perfect for our first visit to Kauai. With young children and extended family, the spacious kitchen + living area provided more than enough space, along with bedroom/bath to allow all of us to feel as comfortable as if in our own home. The external shower was a very thoughtful addition by the owners to allow everyone to rinse off outside after a fun day at the beach, which we did daily. The property comes with a host of beach supplies (which we took advantage of for our kids) among other items such as bikes (which we unfortunately did not partake). The property is conveniently located in proximity to the Makai golf course, local grocery store, and downtown area just a few miles drive. There are also a couple resorts, such as the St. Regis, within a pleasant walking distance.
The owners communicated well leading up to and during our stay, without ever being intrusive. We were extremely happy with our stay and will certainly look to come back here should we visit Princeville again.
We had an absolutely perfect vacation in Princeville, and this lovely home certainly contributed to the experience! Our family of seven had plenty of room and everything we could need was there. We enjoyed quick walks to Queen's Bath to swim, the St Regis for the fabulous sunset and short drives to Hanalei to enjoy the town and the beach. Coming back to the house to bbq was relaxing and a great way to end our days. Thank you to the Carr's for sharing your home with us! We would love to come back one day!
This is our second time staying at this beautiful home and it has been fantastic both times. This time we had 6 adults and 4 kids and it was perfect for all of us. We especially loved walking to the golf course to view the spectacular Kauai sunsets.
John is a perfect host and the information about the home, both before our arrival and once we were there, gave us every detail we needed. We did contact him during our stay and he was extremely responsive and was great at resolving the issue.
If you're looking for a great place to stay, this is it!!
We came to this lovely home to celebrate my parents 50th Anniversary and could not have had a better experience. The location was perfect and quiet. The house is absolutely beautiful and so accommodating for a large group - we had 9 total. Having a master bedroom downstairs was heavenly since my mother would have had a difficult time navigating stairs. The home is packed full of anything you could want or need... a highchair, playpen, bikes, snorkel gear... We cooked in almost every day, definitely grilled out, rested and relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the island and this beautiful home!
