About Meier Bernhaut
We are 2 brothers 2 years apart in age, Isaac made Aliyah first and served in Kfir in the IDF and recently finished his service and currently works at Dalton winery before resuming his university studies. I made Aliyah with my parents and little brothers not long after straight to Tzfat. My brother and I fell in love with Tzfat and we had a strong desire to host families from all over the world in our mystical beautiful city, hence we started Belvedere B’Tzfat.
Meier Bernhaut purchased this Apartment in 2018

Great clean. Beautiful view. Meir was very helpful and accommodating. Had a full kitchen stocked with all our religious needs.
Thank you for being such clean and respectful guests!
Poorly maintained property with apathetic manager
The location is decent (in Jewish Quarter - not Artist Quarter as advertised) and view is nice (if you ignore the industrial zone), but sadly that is where the positives end.
Listing says parking included, but this is false. Manager directed me to park in an illegal spot and said to just drive around if I wanted something different. The apartment is poorly maintained: Fridge is held together by duct tape; hot water heaters barely work and cannot supply enough water for more than 1 shower; water urn didn't work at all; plata was super-hot and burned the food; windows are poor and water came in during a rain storm; the beds in bedrooms 2 and 3 barely can support the weight of anyone larger than a 12 year old and felt like they would collapse; bunk bed had a huge tear on the underside of the top bunk and the ladder wasn't secured, which caught my daughter's finger and hurt her; sofa felt like an adult would fall though it; and there are tons of scuffs all over the walls.
There was also no instructions on where to take the trash to, so you're on own wandering the city looking for a dumpster, I suppose.
What was also a bit bizarre was that I was booked through Sunday morning, but casually mentioned to the manager that I was leaving late on Saturday night to catch a plane. Later, he repeatedly asked me to tell him what time I was going, which was odd, and I assume he told someone else that they could come early, during my booking period.
Now, I hate leaving negative reviews and I originally was going to address all of these things privately and leave a very generic review. But when I got to the airport and sat down to email him, I saw that he had retained my security deposit. Not because anything was damaged, but because he needed to hire someone to clean the unit. When I said that cleaning was already paid in my invoice, that there was no advice on where to take trash, and the deposit is supposed to be for damages, he responded by telling me how inconvenient it was for him to clean the place. He also acted like he was doing me a favor letting me stay until 3am, despite the fact that I had paid for that night and checkout was at 11am (he probably tried double-booking). This is not hospitality, and I asked several times to return the deposit rather than have an angry guest.
I don't believe that the person you're dealing with is the real owner. Sadly, the manager is a kid who doesn't know how to do things the right way.
Sorry Dan but it is the artist quarter not the Jewish quarter (there is nothing but Jewish in Tzfat) but I see you have learned nothing about Tzfat during your stay. Nowhere on our site does it say parking included, it says parking available interesting one of the first questions we get is how far the apartment is from the parking area. Let’s talk publicly about the real reason I withheld your security deposit not all your fancy lawyer speak it does not impress me just as your threats did not impress me. The filth and garbage that you left all over the apartment is not part of normal cleaning, that is what an animal does. We do not want guests like you. Don’t tell me you don’t know where the dumpster is because you passed it dozens of times so you’re simply lazy. Did you forget to mention that kid whom you refer to as the manager who is my son how he carried your bags for you? Funny how no one else has any problems with the plata or hot water urn or dood for hot water, too bad I cannot post pictures of how you left my apartment but I will be sending it to all the other owners in Tzfat and Jerusalem I know. So Dan that’s where your security deposit went, to hire a cleaning crew to be ready for the next guests on Sunday.
Great stay in Tzfat
Meier is a truly gracious and wonderful host. He gave us perfect directions, met our car, helped us find a parking spot, and even carried a couple of our bags.
His listing is accurate and very clean. The location is close to the artist’s quarter and quiet.
We would happily stay again if we return to Tzfat.
Amazing apartment in an amazing city
Couldn’t have asked for a better apartment location and host. Meier greeted us upon our arrival with cold drinks, helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the apartment. The location was fantastic, centrally located within incredible views of this holy city. Meier was always available to respond to questions. We loved everything about our stay . Apartment was spotless, large and had amazing views. I highly recommend this city, this apartment and this host.
Beautiful place to stay in and spacious. The beds specifically in the main bedroom were very comfortable. It was a walk up many stairs with luggage to get to apartment which the owner was nice to help with. Thank you
