We stayed in two apartments at this location, one on the 3rd floor and one on the 2nd. Both were well-appointed and quite charming.
Apartments were clean and fully functioning. The location was convenient to the T station, which we used to get around everywhere in Boston, from Somerville to Cambridge to Watertown to the Boston Common. We were able to walk to restaurants in the area. We ate at Five Horses Tavern, within walking distance. We highly recommend Banyan Bar + Refuge – one of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at anywhere in a long time! A Starbucks is right across the street and convenience stores with groceries are just doors away.
We were also able to easily walk to the South End Open Market on a Sunday. We encountered a beautiful community garden on the way.
A laundromat is just downstairs in the next building – check the hours, though. We planned to do laundry our last evening before heading to the next leg of our trip in Washington DC and arrived too late to start a load. We took an Amtrak train from Boston to DC and it was very simple to get from the apartment to the Amtrak station.
There is a lot of character in the neighborhood – we were surrounded by beautiful brownstones. We were surprised at how quiet the apartment was. We expected Tremont to be a noisy street, but we were able to keep our windows open and not hear a lot of traffic noise.
There are some steep steps to the apartments – so if you have any trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you.
We stayed with our adult daughter and she felt very comfortable on the sofa pull-out bed.
Glenn and Kevin were both so helpful with answering our questions and preparing for our arrival both before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed staying in a brownstone. Up one flight of stairs, plus the entrance steps, the apartment has good, functioning facilities and quite adequate storage space. Good shower and bed. Temperature was an issue for us since the building’s heating was not yet on. There are some shops and restaurants close by, but the supermarkets are about 15 minutes walk away. Bus 43 runs past the front door, but don’t trust it – the subway is 10 minutes away and is more reliable. We were met punctually and introduced to the apartment by the owner’s agent.
What a great place to stay. This location was convenient to the T station, not around the corner but an easy walk. We found a few nice restaurants very close by. We enjoyed going out to grab a cup of coffee and sitting on the front step to read the Sunday paper and enjoy the beautiful weather. The apartment was very clean and we had everything we needed. Vivian met us with the key and showed us around when we arrived. We were in town for the FSU vs BC football game. It was an experience getting to BC when the train shut down, but a very nice Bostonian lady got us where we needed to be. Everyone we encountered was extremely nice. We enjoyed the Saturday PJ brunch at 647 Tremont. It was a little pricey but worth it. We enjoyed our tour of Fenway and walking the Freedom Trail. Lots to see and do in Boston. We will be back.
We stayed here the end of August and were pleased with the apartment's layout and the location and building in general. Even the sofabed was reasonably comfortable! Kevin was super responsive and friendly as we checked in and later when we couldn't figure out the gas oven......and the owner Glenn was very responsive to our needs to extend our stay a few more days. We wanted to send our thank you for the cute welcome gift we received too......a nice touch.
Nice 1 BR apartment in a great location for touring Boston and Cambridge. Walking distance to many restaurants and attractions. Short cab ride to others. Essential amenities included in stay. Rental unit does not contain owner's personal items. Neat, clean with no clutter. Check out Thornton's for a great breakfast! Owner accommodated our needs for timing of arrival.
My husband, my two sons and I stopped in Boston on our way home from Maine. This was my first try wth VRBO and we couldn't have been happier with the experience! I have two teenage sons. One slept on the fold out couch while the other slept on the aerobed-both were extremely comfortable! The apartment was very clean and exactly as pictures indicated. The neighborhood was so cool! Great restaurants and easy access to so many Boston attractions. Kevin was so helpful when we arrived and spent time answering our questions as well as recommending restaurants. This was a great experience all around!
