Cozy, Private cottage at the center of loon lake
After coming back to New York for a wedding in 2016, Frank & Alyona decided to make Albany their home. Frank's mother, Jeanne, grew up around Albany and would frequent the beauty of the Adirondacks, specifically around Loon Lake, Brant Lake and Schroon.

Why Owner chose Chestertown
Jeanne bought the property to eventually retire to, while currently living in Texas to be closer to childhood friends and 'get away from it all,' and spend more time 'home.' With Frank & Alyona's help locally, we've been able to open up the cottage to guests so that they too can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and quiet of the awesome Adirondacks.
What makes this Cottage unique
Having traveled the world over - from Japan to Kazakhstan to Europe and all over the continental Untied States, there are few, if any, places in the world that can match the amazing beauty of the Adirondacks. Every season offers something breathtaking - whether it's the lush greenery and lake views in the summer, the brilliant tapestry of colors in the fall, skiing and story-book snowfalls in the winter, or watching the area spring back to life in the Spring - and fishing year round!

Rented just 3 summer days. Upon arrival we were glad to have an SUV as the driveway is steep, but well maintained. Place is clean, well stocked, gorgeous fireplace and huge screened porch we enjoyed a lot. Grilled steaks outside with small charcoal grill on site. Place is on wooded side of the street across from lakefront homes. You can hear loons in evening or early mornings and that is the one if the most peaceful sounds. Nearest decent grocery store is in next town about 10 min drive. A tree fell on a power line so we lost power for the evening but we had the fireplace and ample lanterns were there. Two walkable access spots to lake. Great little private escape.
Comfortable place for two families
Excellent accomdations, as described in the listing. The beds were comfortable, the pantry items were a big help, and the area was pleasant. We had to contact the property manager to get the wifi password and a couple of other details but he was responsive and helpful. The week went by all too quickly!
Great house for family ski trip to Gore
The house is very cozy, with fire place, 3 bedrooms, eat-in kitchen and dining area for our family of six. 20 minutes from Gore, close enough to get the early-birds on the mountain for first runs and second trip for the late comers. Frank and his wife were very helpful. - Jim & Joanne and family.
Comfortable cottage with everything we needed
My wife, in-laws and I came up to Chestertown to go skiing at Gore Mountain for the weekend. Frank was very friendly, accommodating and helpful in providing the information we needed to stay the weekend. We arrived late at night but were welcomed in with a comfortable living room, fully-stocked kitchen with all the pots, pans and utensils we needed to cook, and a fireplace with plenty of wood. The house is generally well-kept, with a few minor complaints, one being a fuse for the dishwasher and disposal unit that regularly trips, and beds that could be a little more comfortable and supportive. Nonetheless, the house was warm, clean, and apparently recently renovated, in the kitchen, dining room and living room. We especially liked the even ratio of bathrooms to bedrooms.
This house is a great place to return to after a long, cold day of skiing, as we made dinner, drank, played games and laughed by the fireplace. We talked about coming back up here in the summer, when we can see the lake (It was quite snowy that weekend.). One thing to keep in mind when you arrive: the driveway up to the house is a bit long and steep, and make sure you have All wheel drive and good snow tires. We had all wheel drive, but could not make it 10 feet up the driveway, so we ended up parking the car sideways at the base of the driveway. Still, it was a fun, relaxing weekend, and Frank and Alyona were wonderful hosts. Thanks so much!
Everything was as advertised. House was clean and exactly what we needed. The beach is just a short walk and most of the time we were the only people there. The lake itself is great. The host was very easy to work with.
