I grew up in Michigan and discovered St. Joe on my way back home to Chicago. I purchased my first rental the Sand Rabbit about eight years ago. After renovating that house and a smaller house up on State St, I needed a break! One day, however, while walking downtown I noticed a 'for sale' sign at the McNeil House and it was love at first sight. I'm a social worker, yoga instructor, freelance writer and mother of two kids and a big, lovable chocolate lab. I really didn't want another 'project,' but I loved the historic (pre-civil war) home and, like a stray puppy, I couldn't help myself. The grand dame has come back to life!
I have so many dreams for this huge house. I think it could be a bed and breakfast or a salon where cultural events are held. I love the idea of a tea house or selling artist work. I have lots of art and antiques (including my mother's piano) in the house and yet it's not stuffy or formal. It an AWESOME place for families to gather because of it's size and the location is the best. I'm the closest (and biggest) house to downtown St. Joe and the beach is a couple blocks away. Come check it out and fall in love for yourself!
Location, location, location.
We were in St Joe for our sons wedding in April. There were so many of us from UK that we decided to rent the Sand Rabbit, Emmas House and the McNeil House. All the houses supplied the necessary equipment to self cater and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in St Joe and everyone said they will visit again. Thanks to Jennifer.
Very nice property with just a few blocks from the beach and from downtown. Great size for the amount of people that we had, and the overall experience of renting from Jennifer was very easy. I would recommend to Jennifer to supply a little more toilet paper and to make the jump in providing towels. The place is great and i would recommend it!
A wedding weekend rental for 5 families...the location of this house was great for our needs. We walked to frozen yogurt, the beach, the carousel, pizza, farmers market and the children's museum. When we were at the house during the day, we enjoyed the outdoors on the porch. Bedrooms were a comfortable size. And we appreciated the pack n play available for our use. We would definitely recommend.
My husband's and my family stayed in this house the weekend of our wedding! it was absolutely beautiful! it was so close to the beach and downtown that we were able to walk. There was a garden across the street that was beautiful for our pictures. The owner was very easy to speak with, which made the planning process easier. I would highly recommend this for large families and weekend getaways!
McNeil House suited our requirements perfect. Four families stayed here for a wedding weekend (& longer for some) & the room layout was great for each family to have their own space. Loved being close to 'Historic Old St. Joe' and able to walk downtown & to the parks and beach. I'd stay again in a minute.
This was a truly wonderful place to house our wedding party for an early summer wedding. Perfectly situated, spacious, and with a lovely porch, the house really has it all. Highly recommended!
St Joseph is a charming little town overlooking Lake Michigan. It is unique because you can easily walk to the beach and the town from this house. Silver Beach is a fabulous beach and stroll the town known for charming shops and good places to eat.
