Fantastic week on Loon Lake!
The house has a homey, rustic charm, and was exactly as advertised. As some reviews note, the road noise from route 9 is the only drawback, and it's really not too bad at all. And it is certainly worth it for all the amenities the place offers at a reasonable price. We lounged and fished from the docks at the side of the lake, used the canoe and kayaks multiple times, and did not want to leave when our week ended. We would definitely return--our adult children (late teens/early twenties) loved the place. The wifi was excellent and powerful. Washing machine and dryer worked superbly. Everything worked, and the AC in the bedrooms was useful. Very easy to "check-in" and "check-out." Even if you've never done airbnb or vrbo, give this place a try. The owners were so helpful in advance answering our questions. All in all, we'd give it an A+.
The lake brought back a lot of memories & we made new ones.
We all enjoyed this property. The location on the lake we thought was one of the best. The lake access across the street was easy to get too. Dock, swim dock, and boats were a hit with all the kids. House was well stocked with everything you needed. One of our best vacations!!
A Magical Experience
I cannot overstate what a lovely time my family had at Joe and Melinda's property on Loon Lake. There were seven of us -- four kids, and three adults. We fit comfortably in this immaculately clean home and everything we needed was provided, from bed linens to towels, to kitchen appliances to lake toys (floats, canoe, kayaks, row boat, life jackets, etc.).
Our kids had such a wonderful time playing in the lake every day, jumping off the convenient permanent dock located right across the small road from the house. They also loved jumping off the floating dock. They spent countless hours swimming, playing, fishing, and taking trips around the lake in the row boat and kayaks.
The view from the house is breathtaking, and there's even a hammock in the back yard, up in the woods a bit, for weary parents to escape to.
We had so much fun doing activities in the surrounding areas, including a visit to Fort Ticonderoga, hiking on local trails, a cruise on Lake George, tubing on the Hudson river and a trip to the local stone bridge and caves. We also spent many evenings roasting s'mores on the dock at the little fire pit. We even visited the local farmer's market one afternoon.
Joe was incredibly responsive and helpful during the week when we had questions.
Truly, this was a magical vacation for us -- we will cherish the memories we made there and are now huge fans of Loon Lake and the Adirondacks.
Very enjoyable stay!
This home is in a wonderful location with a beautiful clean Loon Lake right in front of the property! We had everything we needed. This home has plenty of space, all the kitchen supplies you need if you decide to cook in, use of kayak, boat, floats make for less packing and a wonderful view of the lake. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms, more than we needed but would be great for bigger groups.
The only negative is that Route 9 is between the house and the lake. This route is still very busy with truck traffic and can be loud at night.
The dock has plenty of space to sit and enjoy the water. They have plenty of seating . I loved the kayaks. Easiest place to put the kayaks in is the left side of the dock. My husband used the rowboat everyday too.
The house is close to Lake George if you want other things to do, shopping, steamboat ride and hiking. We also went to Pottersville (very close) to enjoy the Natural Stone Bridge. I wouldn’t miss it, beautiful!
Always received a prompt response when we had questions.
Very enjoyable week.
