Peaceful escape!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was super cozy and we loved all of the outdoor areas too. The interior was clean and ready for us to throw our things down and go play. The area has so much to offer...we hiked, fished, zip lined, and went canoeing. We truly didn't want to leave and are already planning a return trip.

Hillbilly Heaven...one of our favorite places!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at Hillbilly Heaven and we enjoy it more and more. The new fire pit & grill were excellent additions since our last visit and the cabin was clean and top notch just as before. We had a great weekend of fishing and swimming.

My only suggestion would be a new ladder for the dock. It was very slick and unstable this year and we had a few falls on it. But...that didn't stop our fun!

My husband was able to secure it better with a couple pieces of scrap lumber but it won't hold very long.

We love this place and look forward to another visit soon!

Nice place to spend a relaxing weekend!

  • 3 of 5

Over all it was a nice place to stay. We fully enjoyed the lake & covered porch. There are a few things I would like to comment on. I do not mean any disrespect in any way, just our honest opinion. I would gladly spend another vacation there, but there are a few things you may need to be aware of. Everyone pays a cleaning fee, however we had to wipe off the dining table because there was food on it. We also had to unload the dishwasher. I assume the last people had used it & left them in there. (Even though the information you sent, asks us not to). And obviously the cleaning people did not check it. Other than that it was pretty clean. The refrigerator did not seem to be cold enough. We checked the knob to make sure it hadn't been turned down & it hadn't. There was also a smell coming from it... Not sure if it was coming from the fridge or freezer. One other thing, It would be nice to have some sort of fan upstairs in the bedroom. These are just things you may not be aware of. Again no disrespect just our opinion. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am an absentee owner and I rely on these reviews to inform me on the condition of the cabin. WE have had several reviews on the cleanliness of the cabin so I am surprised that we had these issues. Obviously, I depend on those that clean the cabin. I will forward your review to them to make them aware of these issues. I will also have the refrigerator serviced. Barney

Nicely equipped comfortable cabin. Everything was clean.

Had a great time at Hillbilly Heaven fishing in the pond and enjoying our morning coffee on the back porch watching the sun come up. Plenty of hiking within 15-20 minutes away. Pizza at Miguel's is not to be missed.

Hillbilly Heaven is a lovely cabin but we were a bit disappointed.

  • 3 of 5

This is the second year we have stayed at Hillbilly Heaven. We were disappointed to find the same issues this year as last-downstairs toilet didn't always flush and the air conditioning didn't work.

Danny the repairman was great, personable, polite, professional and timely. He was able to repair the air conditioning the following day. The night we didn't have air conditioning we opened bedroom windows, the bedroom window upstairs didn't have a screen so we had to put it in.

We also lost Wi-Fi after the second day. Unfortunately, I was injured during a hike and really needed to communicate with my physicians couldn't, Wi-Fi never was restored.

While the cabin was generally clean, it was very dusty and there were signs of wear and tear, i.e cracks in kitchen tile, cushions on outdoor furniture very worn, driveway was challenging.

Overall we enjoyed the cabin and property very much, we appreciated the ability to use the fishing poles and the lake. This cabin is priced a little higher than others so we expected a little more for our money.

Wonderful family cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We have two teenagers who accompanied us on a family trip to KY. All four of us truly enjoyed our stay at Hillbilly Cabin and definitely would recommend this home.

The helpful information Barney provided prior to our trip south certainly came in handy! The home was clean and lovely. My favorite spot besides in the lake would be sitting on the porch swing.

The cabin was everything and then some. THANK YOU for sharing a new family favorite spot with us.
