About Jaci Dalke

We have been property owners on Pine Lake since the fall of 1991. We first purchased vacant property, put out a dock, bought our first boat and enjoyed the lake on day trips while living in Kalamazoo. We built our cottage in 1997 and spent most of the summer and weekends in the off season until we just didn't go home in the fall of 2004. We bought this cottage in 2006, sold our first house in ' 07 and built our current home in '08. We are blessed and love living on Pine Lake, enjoying the family time with our 2 kids, 5 grandchildren and two labs (happy lake dogs). Pine Lake is a wonderful place to be any time of the year.

Jaci Dalke purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Jaci Dalke chose Plainwell

When this cottage went on the market, we knew it would be a wonderful place to offer as a lake rental. The cottage has such character being the only authentic log home on the lake. I understand that it was built by a man that taught cabinetry at Michigan Career and Technical Institute here on Pine Lake and you will notice the good use of space with all of the built ins. It is the perfect lake getaway spot!

What makes this cottage unique

The only authentic log home on Pine Lake.

Ohh, we had such a great time here! Everything was clean on arrival, very responsive owners and as described nice and cozy cottage! The view and complete ambient is charming. Romantic mornings and relaxing nights ! The best part is that’s located on the beach! Overall, great escape for every season! Thank you for letting us stay in your great cottage !

Don't Know, No one came to let us in.

  • 1 of 5

Our worst vacation experience ever. My wife, dog and I drove 5 hours (2 1/2 there, 2 1/2 back) in pouring rain and waited 3 hours for no one to come and let us in. Tried calling Jaci over 25 times, emailed her, texted her to no avail. Left. Furious. The following day (30 hours later) her sister sheepishly called and asked if we went to the cottage yesterday, she paused and said OMG I completely forgot that I was supposed to let you in yesterday! and I am sooo sorry. Sorry does not cut it on this. We packed the day before, lost 2 days of paid work for the both of us just to spend 10:30 in the morning to 5 o'clock at night, all day, mostly driving (except for waiting 3 hours for someone, anyone to let us in) for absolutely nothing. I emailed Jaci through her Facebook page when we returned home to tell her how angry we were and I would like my money refunded because she would not respond to phone calls, texts or emials. Still did not hear from her for another week (she was on vacation!), only to say 'Sorry' and offer us a free "Weekend Getaway". I am so angry I wouldn't even consider doing anything with Jaci and her sister EVER again. I asked to please send me my money plus the gas money we wasted. She only sent the refund back for the reservation! Two people lost 2 days work, did not use her cottage, wasted a whole day traveling and she did not even offer gas monies. No, we do not wan't anything to do with your cottage. Do you think you could have given me a phone number besides yours for someone to let us in? Especially when you knew you would not be there? That is what a responsible renter would do! Could you have answered our calls, texts or emails while we are sitting in the pouring rain for 3 hours? Maybe like most responsible people called us to see if we accessed the cottage and if everything was to our liking? Check to see if we got it in? What if the heat was off or there was an emergency? Than to top it off her sister sent us a rude text after we explained to leave us alone and send us our money back. I do not care if this has ever or never happened before Jaci, you ruined our holiday and we do not forgive you. And we really do not care about you many excuses!! FURIOUS!!!!

Owner's Response: I have been in the cottage rental business for 20 years and as noted in previous reviews have offered a lovely experience for my guests. This was an awful mistake that I made by not leaving an alternate contact number when I traveled out of the country. I was notified the next day and called this guest immediately, not one week later. As he stated I offered them a free vacation to attempt making up for their inconvenience and disappointment. All rental fees were returned including a $23 amount for overnight postage. I’m sorry that they refused to let me rectify the mistake. Jaci

Adorable cottage

We stayed here and went up to Holland for Tulip Time. The cottage is very quaint and homey. We had a slight problem, but Jaci was very helpful and easy to contact. We would stay here again!

Wonderful October Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Relaxing and friendly atmosphere. I loved all the storage that the house had, it made us feel at home being able to unpack and not live out of suitcases. The house was clean and comfortable. We loved being able to have our dog with us, for walks and bike rides! He loved it too! I just wish the pull out bed in the couch would have been more comfortable (but what pull out is?) The movie theater though it looked run down from the outside was very nice inside with friendly staff and great prices! The owner of this cabin was so friendly and accommodating! We will defiantly rent here again!

We were in Michigan for our son's gymnastics meet, which was in Battle Creek. We were originally going to stay in a hotel, but on a whim, I looked at Homeaway. We were so happy to find this wonderful cottage. It was cozy and inviting. The location on the lake was beautiful, and we loved the view and exploring the surrounding area. It has all of the amenities you would want, and we even enjoyed the gas fireplace on the cool evenings. I'm not sure if we'll ever be back to the area, but we would definitely stay here again.

Another GREAT stay!! We love the chance to have one central place where our family and friends can come visit while we are in Michigan. They all comment about how cozy and comfortable the cottage feels!

Waking up with a cup of coffee on the patio, and ending the day with a fire in the fire pit (with S'mores of course) are perfect ways to enjoy a vacation.

Jaci is incredible to work with and we will definitely be back!!
