We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the plum cove cottage. The location was fantastic as we could walk to plum cove beach in just minutues and could access other beaches and downtown Gloucester in 10-15 minutes. The cottage was wonderful. Feels much bigger than the square footage because of the layout and the updates. We hope to return next summer/fall and certainly recommend this cottage to others.

Beautiful Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

Our first vacation without our three children in over 30 years, what a wonderful place to visit. The cottage was exactly like the pictures and website stated. Perfect for the two of us, exceptionally clean, and everything you could ask for, with amenities. Both Rockport, MA and Gloucester, MA within minutes drive. Even took a train down to Boston for a day-trip and got to eat at Cheers and of course Faneuil Hall. We both loved the local breweries and restaurants. Had clam chowder every day of the week!

Did I forget to mention the beach, just a few short steps away! Again, just as beautiful as the picture online! Water was still too cold to my liking, but the scenery was second to none.

If I had one complaint, it was that we had to purchase plastic garbage bags from the town in order to discard our trash. The cost of $12 for the bags seemed a little high, and should have been included on site for our use.

Other than that, we highly recommend the cottage! Absolutely beautiful!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of our cottage and we are so pleased that you enjoyed it. The town of Gloucester requires "purple" bags for your we suggest to most of our guests is please recycle as much as you can....and you can purchase just 1 small bag for your refuse.

Cozy and the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a quiet, cozy retreat that was near the beach but away from it all. This place totally delivered! A quick 5 minute walk to Plum Cove beach, a perfectly sized space to stay, and a quiet and serene setting. I cooked every night and the kitchen was perfect! The Internet was fast but I did not make use of the cable or sound system. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in in a while (better than my own!). I felt like I was coming home at the end of my days each day. I was truly made to feel welcome and comfortable. This was the relaxing experience I needed in the most picturesque location. I loved the book of activities and the little notepads to leave a message about the stay; it added an extra touch I truly appreciated.

I read another review that noted that we are responsible for bringing the trash out on trash day, and while this was true I wasn't bothered by it at all. This was also my first rental vacation, and we were responsible for bringing laundry down on check out day. Not sure if this is a normal thing but again, no big deal. I wanted to mention this in case someone was looking for a 100% zero responsibility stay.

I only found three downsides that I admit are likely just princess problems. The first was the bedroom/bathroom situation: navigating a spiral staircase and walking across the unit at night for potty trips was a bit harrowing but again, not a huge deal. If it's something hugely troublesome, the couch in the living room is a sleeper sofa. Problem solved! The second was that the shower water temperature didn't have an option to get cold. I love a hot shower as much as the next lady, but it was a little uncomfortable (unless of course you are showering after returning from an evening ocean swim, then it is a great way to warm up). That being said, the three extra showerheads on the side of the shower were AMAZING and my shower at home upon my return was the most depressing experience. The final "negative" was the proximity to another rental: literally in the back yard. If you aren't into the potential for kids running around or overly friendly neighbors (I am very introverted) this would be something to consider.

NONE of those three items are dealbreakers, just things to consider. I will 100,000% be staying here again with the potential to bribe someone or arm wrestle them in order to secure a rental here if none were available.

Thanks again, this was a stellar experience!

Just as it appears - cozy and lovely cottage.

Excellent communication and lots of helpful information about the surrounding area. Sitting outside enjoying our tea we were delighted to see a cardinal. Favorite memory was opening the skylights and hearing a gorgeous range of birdsongs.

Adorable and Amazing

Fantastic location! This is a very well maintained, upgraded adorable cottage! It is in a great location and the owners are very helpful leaving a binder of information about things within the area to do and see! We were here for our mini-moon and plan to return again in the future! It was relaxing and simply perfect! We loved it!!!
