Quarry House has been renovated to a high standard to provide high quality home from home holiday accommodation. The house has been equipped with all the facilities that we would find in our own home including the exact dishwasher! We hope our guests will enjoy Quarry House as much as we do.
We strive to update and improve Quarry House and its facilities on a regular basis. During the Autumn of 2015 we installed a hot tub and a summer house. The summer house is equipped with sofas, table tennis and games. It an ideal place to sit and enjoy the views from that part of the garden. We are very excited about these additions and hope our guests will enjoy the new facilities as much as us. New patio and landscaping around the hot tub is planned for 2016.
We have three children and a chocolate Labrador. We enjoy spending time together on holiday and love the tranquil relaxing home from home we have created. We have hired many holiday homes over the years and now have a good idea about what makes a great holiday home. We hope that we have used our knowledge to create a wonderful holiday location for others to enjoy too.
Amanda and Chris Mallett purchased this house in 2013
Quarry House sits on the borders of both Powys and Herefordshire. We originally looked to buy a holiday home in Herefordshire where we had enjoyed a fabulous holiday the previous year. Herefordshire is a hidden gem of England and one of the best kept secrets as a place for wonderful holidays. Please keep our secret and join us in enjoying a beautiful part of the country.
The views from Quarry House are it's best feature. Watch the Herefordshire dairy herd in the morning charging across the fields to be fed. The walks direct from the property are fantastic for walkers and dog owners. Our dog enjoys the 3 acres of garden to explore. The house is well equipped for families with children. This house is our family home from home and we hope that you enjoy the comfort and facilities that we have available to our guests.
We've really our honeymoon say at Quarry House. We've discovered something new every day and been on some great walks with our dog. We've been very lucky with the weather, it was possibly a bit too hot on the first day! It's not often you can say that in the UK!
The house is fantastic, our daughter and dog have enjoyed exploring and playing in the garden. The slide and swing being a favourite, which she will miss when we return home.
You've really thought of everything in terms of games, information and household / family essentials. All of the finishing touches make Quarry House feel very much like a home from home.
We were on a repeat visit to the lovely Quarry House on a girls weekend. It is so comfortable and fully equipped for everything you could need. We catered for ourselves and found everything we needed for cooking just as you would in your own kitchen. We bimbled around Kington but really didn't venture far. We loved having a roaring wood burning fire now that the evenings are getting chilly and there was plenty of sunshine too for sitting out on the raised terrace and admiring the fantastic views a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year.
By far the best equipped holiday-let kitchen I've seen.
We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the local town of Presteigne with its quirky local restaurants, deli, fishmonger, butcher, greengrocers with local produce etc.
As there's plenty to do within the property, and we only had a short stay we didn't adventure far, but enjoyed a relaxing time together, playing pool, table tennis and games etc.
Already planning to return.
The property was just perfect for my family, and refreshingly accurately described. Not too far from local villages, but remote enough not to see anyone unless we wanted to. A delightful welcome pack was much appreciated. The family went off walking everyday, while I stayed in the kitchen trying out recipes from a new cookery book, or enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful views from the terrace. Such peace.
A wonderful house for a family holiday. Everything has been thought of and carefully made into a home from home. Amazing walks around for fine weather and the games room comes into its own in the evenings. There was plenty of room around the kitchen table even when we had unexpected visitors for dinner. My grand -daughters loved the swings and the freedom to roam within the grounds. We had a brilliant time visiting Croft Castle and also enjoyed the water gardens on the way to Leominster. My sons played golf at Kington. Two of our party went off mountain biking. All in all everyone had a great time.
Would recommend to others.

Croft Castle & Berrington Hall (both National Trust properties) are nearby. Berrington Hall is one of the few masterpieces of the famous architect Henry Holland to survive intact. As well as exploring the family rooms and servants' quarters, you can view a collection of Georgian costumes, including examples from 2008 film The Duchess and the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice. Walk through one of ‘Capability’ Brown’s final landscapes on one of the estate walks and relax by the lake or in the gardens. Croft Castle sits deep in the heart of Herefordshire countryside surrounded by 1500 acres of historic woodland, farm and parkland. Home to the Croft family for nearly 1000 years, this castle has many powerful stories to uncover.
Nearby Presteigne boasts a charming wine bar and fantastic Thai restaurant. The Stagg Inn, a Michelin starred pub is a tantalising 10 minutes drive away.
