Great relaxing place
Truly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful view, very relaxing.
Very nice place. Good location for visiting Lake Champlain.
Clean and fully equipped. Would definitely recommend!
Home Away from Home
We stayed here for a week each of the last couple summers. It is exactly what we hoped for. Quiet setting, fantastic views and private access to the lake. The kitchen and bath are brand new in marble and granite, including a jacuzzi tub. Owners are on site, but property is large so you only see them if you need them. It was great they allowed pets so we didn't have to pay for boarding. A good overall experience.
As stated in other reviews, the view of the lake is amazing, and the location ideal. The house from the outside is inviting and very typical of upstate lake homes. The kitchen and bathroom downstairs has been updated and very modern. Beyond that, the home needs updating badly. There are holes in the screens, bugs in the window tracks, stained carpets. The 2 couches in the living room were worn and covered with throws and hard to get out of once you sat down. The tv was old and not digital. There was wireless internet however the only place it worked was in the kitchen near the window. Yes the place is air-conditioned but for the first 6 days did not work. It was replaced during our stay. The front porch has plenty of seating but the chairs were water-stained and dirty. The queen size bed upstairs was comfortable but the full size bed downstairs was hard and uncomfortable. There was a musty smell once the windows were closed and the basement fan was turned off. The owner/operator lives on the property and both he and his wife seemed very nice, but unaware of what is expected when families are renting. We ended our stay 1 week early do to personal issues and the disappointment in the condition of the rental. After 10 years of rentals around the country with Homeaway and VRBO this is the first negative review I have entered.
In six years of renting my future retirement home, I've never received such criticism. This guy reserved 2 weeks and spent the entire 1st week documenting anything he could find that wasn't perfect - then used it to reduce fees for the week and weasel out of week two, costing me over $1,000. The TV has been replaced, the screens fixed, the porch furniture replaced or repainted, and everyone uses the WiFi without difficulty. This was a nice camp on the lake - gorgeous location and views - converted to a home in the 1970's. It is not the Ritz-Carlton, and at any time there may be repairs in process. I have had, and continue to have, many renters returning each year. Try it, you'll like it!
Amazing view of the lake! The house has everything you need - brand new bathrooms, kitchen and all the appliances. Friendly and helpful owner. Would recommend to anyone.
My family spend the 2011 Labor day holiday in the property. We went there a week after the hurricane Irene. Because of that the public beaches were closed earlier by the municipality, so we could not enjoy them. The beach is close to the property, about 5 min. drive.
The house is clean, well maintained with renovated kitchen and master bath. It has everything a family would need to have a nice vacation.
Sitting on the porch allows gorgeous views towards the lake and a pretty yard. The surroundings are very quiet. The road in front of the house has little traffic and with its scenic views is a good place to enjoy jogging, walking or a bicycle. The ferry terminal to Vermont is about a half a mile from the house.
In our opinion, the Cumberland head peninsula is one of the best options to stay in Plattsburgh.
As a whole, we enjoyed a very pleasant week.
Plattsburgh is a hotbed of summer activity for a small, lakefront community - or enjoy the serenity on 1.5 acres. Horse shows, concerts, sailboat races, and fishing tournaments are found close by. More activities and bigger-city amenities are near: Montreal about an hour, Burlington, VT about 50 minutes.
