About Leisa Munce

Todd and I live in Melbourne Florida. We purchased the first Chalet for a 'safe place' to run to when those nasty hurricanes come through! But then we fell in love..in love with Maggie Valley. It's wonderful to see those mountains and visit our 'little slice of heaven'. Many years later I still get as excited about going as the day I first saw the place!

Leisa Munce purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Leisa Munce chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

We looked at many homes before choosing this one. A lot of the properties in the area require being a billy goat to access them! So many have steep drop offs and the roads aren't paved. This location has a very gradual incline and the road is paved right up to the front door. It was just perfect for our family.

What makes this chalet unique

The large yard offers an area to play or relax and enjoy. In the spring and summer it is a great place to throw a frisbee, football, or spread a blanket and enjoy a picnic. In the fall just rake up a huge pile of multi-colored leaves and jump right in. And of course you've got the winter months where you can slide and saucer down the hill.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Leisa,

I owe you a huge apology for not emailing you sooner! My schedule has been so busy since our trip. For example, we returned home on Sunday, I worked Monday and we had basketball games Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights! Its been kinda crazy. Please know that my negligence in no way indicates our experience with your chalet.

We had a wonderful time!!!! The chalet was just perfect!!! You never know how you will "fit in" with the housing. As soon as we got there, we all felt at home. It was so welcoming to find the fireplace on and the place nice and toasty when we arrived. We really expected it to be freezing cold inside especially since we arrived at about midnight. It was cozy and charming and just felt right! My sons are convinced that we should try and buy it - lol!!

We ate all but one meal "at home", which really made it feel like home even more. We had my oldest son's homemade waffles every morning! It was nice to just spend time there just hanging out together. We talked about what it would be like to be there during the fall and summer! You never know, I may be back in touch with you, lol.

Two mornings, we woke up to a thin blanket of snow outside. How beautiful it was! As you know, the location is perfect!! We took advantage of the free ski ticket for my youngest on Friday and skiied again Saturday. We also took a day trip to Cherokee. We just had so much fun!! As a mom, I know you appreciate the time we spent together as a family. It was such a blessing to me. The whole trip was one answer after another to prayers - from safe travel, perfect lodging, no injuries, wonderful bonding time, patient, positive attitudes, fun!, etc etc etc.

Leisa, thank you so much! We appreciate how you worked with us - especially with the changes to our travel dates! And thanks for returning our security deposit so quickly!! It has been a pleasure!!

God bless,

Linda

Adorable Chalet in the Valley

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this cute chalet. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was a very nice size and had everything you needed to cook a meal. The area surrounding the chalet was beautiful. We really enjoyed Frankie's - a wonderful Italian restaurant and a quaint Mexican restaurant about 5 mins from the chalet. We also enjoyed walking around Lake Junaleska about 12 mins away. Leisa was very easy to work with and you can tell she cares about keeping her chalet quaint and comfortable. We definitely will return.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the chalet. It was cozy, quiet and comfortable for the two adults and three children in our party. It was nice to sit on the porch and watch elk pass through just a couple of feet in front of us! I would definitely consider staying here again when we return to Maggie Valley.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

The chalet had all the comforts of home, & great views. We had a great time. The weather was cool & rainy, but the fireplace kept us warm & cozy. I enjoyed shopping antique stores in Maggie Valley, took a trip into Waynesville & went to the casino. We walked the dogs & met the neighbors 2 doors down. We saw redheaded woodpeckers,

& elk tracks on the road. Guinea hens would walk right by the front deck. I'm sure we'll be back. It doesn't get any better than that!

The chalet was lovely!

  • 4 of 5

The chalet was well appointed, clean and well maintained and pet friendly. We had all the comforts of home with dishes, appliances and even games. The stand alone gas fireplace was cozy and did a great job of keeping us warm. It was nice being close to the Cataloochee ski resort, Soto falls, and not too far from Cherokee. One thing that would have made our stay more pleasant would be a covered porch. It rained the whole first day which made it difficult to enjoy the outdoors. Leisa was very friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend Leisa's chalet if you plan to stay in Maggie Valley.
