Ideal location. . an older house
Best part is that to get to the beach, you take 20 steps on a little sand path. Beautiful beach. Obviously, house is older than most on LBI and bedrooms are small. But these owners have been doing this for awhile and know just what is essential for you to have in the home. It works.
Thank you for the wonderful review.
This property is a hidden gem. A short stroll takes you to easy beach access.
My husband and small dog stayed two weeks and found the 1st floor duplex quite comfortable. Overall it was bright and clean. The owners made sure everything was ready for our arrival even putting quilts out for,all the beds and making sure gas grill was working. The location is literally steps from the beach. We strolled with our morning coffee to bench at beach access and watched the sunrise. Beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes were provided and outside shower made cleaning sand off easy.
The living area is modern and open with an updated well stocked kitchen. The queen bed was comfortable with bunk beds and twin in other room. The bath had been remodeled but the space is compact. The upstairs deck is bordered by pines and you can hear the sound of the ocean. The neighborhood is mix of smaller homes with many new large builds. Enjoyed walking the area and found a nice community feel. Restaurants plenty and had chowerfest and kite show while there. Enjoyed our time on lbi. The location was perfect for us.
So close to the beach - you can hear the waves kiss the shore!
We stayed in the second floor unit from July 16 through July 23. The hands down best feature of the house is its location to the beach. It is literally a 3 minute walk to the beach. There is a quaint little beach lane behind the house which makes it very quick. As for the deck, it actually would have a view of the ocean if not for the small grove of pines and the new dunes which are very high - but it's that close that you'd see the ocean - and as an added bonus, the rear of the house faces one of the McMansion's backyards - so it's clear through to the open sky above the ocean (through the pine trees). The house is a throw back to the 1960's with knotty pine throughout, but newer carpeting and some new light fixtures - the bathroom looks like part of the set from "I Love Lucy" pink tile - but everything works fine. The kitchen is clean and updated (sink faucet pulls out so it's also a sprayer) and features a dishwasher and breakfast island. The master has a door to the bathroom and is roomy with a comfortable mattress. The second bedroom is small, L-shaped with one single bed and then bunks - which are suitable for children - but I wouldn't recommend them for adults as there isn't much head room between the bunk beds and the mattresses in this room are very firm - Mom compared hers to sleeping on a "concrete slab." So you may want to bring feather bed toppers with you. That being said, this is the house to rent - because of the location. It is surrounded by Mansions and the gardens in the neighborhood of Beach Haven Gardens are the best I've seen on the whole of LBI. This is a very safe neighborhood where you'll see many families riding bicycles after dinner or taking long walks. The house is convenient to Murphy's Supermarket and Foster's Garden store (about 2 blocks to the LBI boulevard if you walk) and a WAWA and Gulf Station. I loved my stay here - and I"ve been coming to LBI for many many years. This is by far one of the best rentals for the value and the owners are very nice. I'd also recommend for eating: Woodies Too, Fred's Diner (my mother's favorite) and Foster's Garden Market for sandwiches. As for souvenirs - please do yourself a great favor and visit "How To Live" - this shop is one of a kind and remarkable (there are two - one in Beach Haven and one in Surf City).
We appreciate good reviews. We take suggestions very seriously. We will take care of the mattresses in the second bedroom.
