Ocean block duplex, one house from the beach. In perfect condition after Hurricane Sandy. Just a few steps through the sand dunes, to the white sandy beach. Easy for children to go to and from the house. Many amenities to make your stay comfortable. Each room is air conditioned. Very clean and well maintained. There is a master bedroom with a queen bed, a second bedroom which sleeps three (bunk beds and a twin), and a sleep sofa which sleeps one, for a total sleep capacity for six. The house has high speed wireless Internet, cable TV, CD and DVD players; a newly renovated well equipped kitchen; outdoor shower; and grill and washer/dryer. Table and chairs for outside eating. Beach chairs are provided. Close to restaurants and shops. One mile from Beach Haven amusements and shopping. No smoking. Discounted rates for June and September.
We stayed in the second floor unit from July 16 through July 23. The hands down best feature of the house is its location to the beach. It is literally a 3 minute walk to the beach. There is a quaint little beach lane behind the house which makes it very quick. As for the deck, it actually would have a view of the ocean if not for the small grove of pines and the new dunes which are very high - but it's that close that you'd see the ocean - and as an added bonus, the rear of the house faces one of the McMansion's backyards - so it's clear through to the open sky above the ocean (through the pine trees). The house is a throw back to the 1960's with knotty pine throughout, but newer carpeting and some new light fixtures - the bathroom looks like part of the set from "I Love Lucy" pink tile - but everything works fine. The kitchen is clean and updated (sink faucet pulls out so it's also a sprayer) and features a dishwasher and breakfast island. The master has a door to the bathroom and is roomy with a comfortable mattress. The second bedroom is small, L-shaped with one single bed and then bunks - which are suitable for children - but I wouldn't recommend them for adults as there isn't much head room between the bunk beds and the mattresses in this room are very firm - Mom compared hers to sleeping on a "concrete slab." So you may want to bring feather bed toppers with you. That being said, this is the house to rent - because of the location. It is surrounded by Mansions and the gardens in the neighborhood of Beach Haven Gardens are the best I've seen on the whole of LBI. This is a very safe neighborhood where you'll see many families riding bicycles after dinner or taking long walks. The house is convenient to Murphy's Supermarket and Foster's Garden store (about 2 blocks to the LBI boulevard if you walk) and a WAWA and Gulf Station. I loved my stay here - and I"ve been coming to LBI for many many years. This is by far one of the best rentals for the value and the owners are very nice. I'd also recommend for eating: Woodies Too, Fred's Diner (my mother's favorite) and Foster's Garden Market for sandwiches. As for souvenirs - please do yourself a great favor and visit "How To Live" - this shop is one of a kind and remarkable (there are two - one in Beach Haven and one in Surf City).
Long Beach Island offers many recreational and cultural activities: Summer stock theater, concerts, amusement parks, water sports, beach, swimming, biking, ecotours, sightseeing, shopping, a variety of restaurants. One hour from Atlantic City, an hour and a half from Philadelphia, and two hours from New York.
