Custom log home on Lake Huron. Lakeside has numerous decks for the most beautiful sunsets! There is also a fire pit and sand volleyball court on the lakeside. Access to Hiawatha National Forest trails for all of your
recreational activities-biking, hiking and four wheeling. The home is decorated beautifully in a rustic decor. The home features stainless gas grill, convection gas range, dishwasher, garbage disposal, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and washer and dryer. There is a Marina on the road for putting in small boats, sailboats or jet skis. This private road is a favorite vacation spot for many-it will be yours also!!
Cottage is comfortable and cozy. Kids loved swimming off the dock in Lake Huron and catching frogs in the creek next to the house. The kitchen is well equipped and home had plenty of room for all 8 us. Downtown Hessel is quaint and cute and the Les Cheneaux Cooking School was great for "date night" dinner. Thanks for sharing your cottage.
We had a great time at this house! It was perfect with so much to do for little ones. (Ages 3-9) The kids caught frogs, played in the sand, explored the woods and swam off the end of the dock. The adults enjoyed the firepit, grilling and relaxing away from it all. Short drive to St. Ignace/the bridge. Day trip to Tahquamenon (which I recommend) Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and also hang out together. Overall a great vacation rental...highly recommend!
The kitchen was very well equipped. We made buttermilk waffles in the waffle iron. The heron was around as if it lived at the home's dock. The home is perfectly situated for sunset viewing, has lovely decks, and night stars are fantastic. We enjoyed walking the quiet road with the dog. St. Ignace was a fun day trip.
This home is beautiful, comfortable, clean. The area is quiet and pristine. The sunsets are amazing! We traveled to the U.P. with our children and grandchildren (11 of us total) and had a wonderful time. We took a few day trips to Mackinac Island and the Tahquamenon Falls, but the best times were had sitting around the fire pit, playing in the sand, sharing meals and reconnecting. The kids brought their bikes and kayaks as there is abundant waterways and trails to explore. This is an absolutely awesome "home away from home" in a glorious natural setting.
Your Lake House is beautiful and our trip was everything that we had hoped for and more! We were blessed with gorgeous weather for our entire trip. The Mackinac Historical Parks were very educational and rewarding for the kids (for mom and dad too!) The kids were great biking the 8 miles around the island. We took a lot of time to relax and savor our family time. Our boys had so much fun catching (and releasing) several tadpoles, frogs, turtles, snails, and snakes (eek!). Our daughter loves to read, and spent some time enjoying the hammock and a good book. And when she wasn't on it, I tried to be! ;) Each evening the sunsets were incredible, each one unique... all breathtaking! Couldn't have asked for a better place to call "home" for the week. Thank you!
I got lucky during July4th weekend of 2010. I booked a place which I had to cancel cause owner turned 180 on us. But God was looking out for us and knew that we need a good vacation. Someone gave up this place at last moment and we got hold of it.
Kim was nice enough to accommodate us for less than a week in reasonable prices.
So group of 8 adults, we set our foot inside this heavenly place and I lost all my exhaustion, frustration in a moment. Lets start from the inside of house. Its big enough place to sleep 10 or more people. Has 3 washrooms to accommodate large group. The house is decorated with original rock stones, tree stems, amazing collection of candles, antiques etc. The view from house is panoramic, right on shores of lake huron. Beautiful deck/ balcony.. The bedroom on second floor and on first floor facing the lake is really worth staying. There are all basic amenities in the house. The house is secluded enough to give ample privacy.
The house is far enough from main road to have peace, you can enjoy long bike rides/walk/jog on dirt roads too.
My friends couldn't thank me enough to find such a place, but credit goes to the owners. I will definitely be going back there again for one more long vacation. Thanks again Kim for letting people enjoy their vacation in such a beautiful place.
The home is located in the Upper Penninsula about a half hour East of the Mackinaw Bridge. The area is known for the Les Cheneaux Islands. The home is located in beautiful St. Matin's Bay and has direct views of the Mackinaw Bridge, Little St. Martins Island, Big St. Martins Island and Mackinaw Island. Some of the favorites for the tourist and the locals are visiting Mackinac Island, Mackinac City(shopping and water park), Hessel and the Les Cheneaux Islands by boat, Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie and hiking and biking in the nature trails. There are also many golf courses in the area. Hessel is also known for the Antique Wooden Boat Show in August. But I believe the best feature of the area for most is just relaxing and enjoying the water, scenery and serenity of the beautiful Upper Peninsula with family and friends.
Other Activities: Great trails and road for golf carts and/ or Atvs.
Golf: There are several golf courses located close by: Drummond Island, Hessel, Cedarville, Pickford and Sault Ste. Marie.
