About Chris Boyd
I am custom home builder both on St. John and in New Jersey. I built Siempre Azul from the ground up. I purchased this one of kind property in 1990. Construction was completed in 2000 with constant fine tuning and continous upgrades. If I am not working you can find me on or in the water. My hobbies are surfing, snorkeling, boating, kayaking and hiking all the trails on St. john. I am a licensed pilot rated in both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. I also enjoy racing nascar and have competed at the Las Vegas Speedway, Talladega Super Speedway in Alabama, Miami Speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway at speeds approaching 200 MPH.
Why Chris Boyd chose Estate Johns Folly
Siempre Azul a spectacular ocean front property that is totally private and secluded yet minutes away from all the pristine white sand beaches and fine dinning in coral bay.
What makes this Villa unique
The house is custom built out of natural stone both inside and out. The stone was hand split at the St. Thomas rock quarry. All the interior hardwoods were milled and fabricated into custom cabinetry and trim on site. my personnel attention was given to every detail during the construction process. This property is a one of kind piece of paradise perfect for that special time to share with that special person in your life. please take a few minutes to read the many 5 star reviews on home away or VRBO.

Many a morning we would chose to welcome the dawn on our point overlooking the ocean. Such calm and relaxing ocean sounds from the front veranda! We watched geckos, iguanas and goats from our perch. The apt was slow to cool down on our hot first day (the a/c hadn't been turned on before we arrived), but once cool, the a/c unit was MORE than adequate to keep the entire home cool and comfortable. This was good as the breeze on the day we arrived and left was non-existent and the mosquitos found us quickly outside. The other days the front veranda catches a great breeze and was very comfortable. Miss Lucy's had closed for. the month of September (super sad!), however the combo of Rhumb Lines and Aqua Bistro MORE than accommodated our needs. Plus the grocery stores (3) in Coral Bay were more than enough for supper on a couple of the nights. I liked the view, privacy, hot tub and Coral Bay location. We walked along the beach in front of our house & found 2 Cowry shells. Excellent snorkeling at Brown Bay (just make it past the sargassum), North Haulover, and Europa Bay (hike to get there). Otherwise, there are definitely signs of recovery from Irmarie elsewhere. We loved the beautiful hikes and drives around this beautiful island. Chris and Steve were very fast in responding to our questions and needs as well as providing advice. They made the stay for us first-timers to St John much more comfortable.
Thanks for taking the time to write this nice review and glad you enjoyed my ocean front property. Please come back again sometime like so many of my guests do.
Our hidden gem in the Caribbean
We came back to Siempre Azul in summer 2019, eleven years after our first visit during our honeymoon in 2011. It was just as fabulous as we remembered! The gentle waves of the ocean are like one of the settings on the white noise sound machine we use for our kids at home-- except it's the real deal.
The house is perfect for a romantic getaway, located on the less populated side of St. John, but not too far from a few shops and restaurants. On a map or viewed from the water, the property shares a little peninsula with another property, but you can't even see that other house, and they can't see you. It's like being on a private island. We love it.
We watched the sunrise from the lounge chairs in the front yard,
we took outdoor showers every day, and we ate all our meals outside on the front balcony. Down in the yard, the mosquitos and gnats can get you, but on the balcony they stay away-- maybe because of the way the breeze blows through there. It's such an amazing place to sit and gaze at the water and the horizon.
Something that wasn't there last time (or maybe in our honeymoon bliss we just didn't notice it!) are laundry facilities down in the cellar. Having access to those machines was great since we'd packed in only roller carry-ons and could wash a load of clothes mid-week.
The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for cooking a full meal. We made grilled steaks, oven-roasted potatoes, cheesy omelets, cookies, toasted pecans, pancakes on the griddle, and even smoothies in the blender. We also boiled and then grilled a fresh lobster we caught that day from the water across Coral Bay.
The owner is incredibly responsive and attentive, just as he was eleven years ago. You really get the feeling he's trusting you as a friend with his private home.
As we left, we talked of course about "next time" and wondered what we would do if "our" little house ever changed hands and wasn't available. We decided we'd try to find something as close to it and as similar as possible!
Thanks for coming back to my home for your anniversary and glad you enjoyed the property once again.

This was a completely awesome experience and property. First, Chris was great from the beginning of the booking process all the way through to the end of the stay. He was always quick to respond to my questions and ready with information to make my stay better.
Now about the property, it was awesome. Very well built and well maintained. It was the perfect place for my wife and I to spend our 25th wedding anniversary. We really liked the location on the Coral Bay side, and had plenty of options for restaurants and a small grocery store. It was a great location to launch out and take in beautiful beaches. After a long day on the beach the hot tub was the perfect place to unwind before a peaceful nights sleep. Want to go back now and stay right there.
I appreciate you taking the time to write a review and glad you enjoyed your stay at my ocean front property. Please come back again as so many guests do.
30th Wedding Anniversary Trip
The location by the ocean looking out across Coral Bay toward BVI is amazing! Apart from an occasional boat or the wandering local goat herd, there was no one around to invade your private little oasis. Given the impact that hurricanes Irma and Maria had on St. John, this property weathered things very well. Unfortunately, it is evident the total island recovery will take some time. Regardless, we look forward to returning to St. John in the future to witness the revitalization of this eartly paradise. It is one of our favorite destinations.
Glad you enjoyed my ocean front property for your 30th anniversary. Please come back again sometime.
Have a great 2019 summer!

Awesome House and View!
Everything about this home, location and view met our expectations. Perfect for a two person getaway. We hit the beaches in the morning/early afternoon and returned home most evenings to cook in the well-stocked kitchen, soak in the hot tub and enjoy a game of horse shoes. Will definitely return.
Glad the house was everything you expected. I appreciate you taking the time to write this great review. Please come back again.

We couldn't have picked a better place for our anniversary trip to St. John. We have visited St. John several times in the past but had always stayed on the Cruz Bay side. I was a little apprehensive about staying way over on the east side, but it was absolutely amazing. The house was perfect...great view, right on the water, amazing hot tub, easy drive, and you can walk to Miss Lucy's! Getting to the sights and beaches was easy...maybe even quicker than from the west end. Salt Pond is less than 5 minutes away! We were also amazed at the amount of grocery stores and restaurants. Thank you to Chris (owner) and Steve (manager) for helping us with such a fabulous trip!
The island of St. John is the smallest and quietest of the US Virgin islands. An 8 mile, 30 minute scenic drive east will take you from Cruz Bay, the main restaurant and excellent shopping area to the smaller community of Coral Bay. Siempre Azul is not far from the Salt Pond beach at the southern tip. Ramshead hiking trail starts here and meanders up the mountain to a dazzling 200 ft. high panoramic view. Several local beaches are found here while St John's famous beaches are dotted along the North Shore. Archaeological findings, many ruins and interesting hiking trails abound.
