Overview

Asheville Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Built during the early 1900’s, The Chapman House is an original cottage of Historic Biltmore Village. It is part of a picturesque manorial village planned by none other than George Washington Vanderbilt (1862-1914), the founder of the vast and awe inspiring Biltmore Estate.

Initially, the European inspired village housed estate workers and was the center of community life, the location of schools, post office, train depot, infirmary, and church. However, through the course of time, a number of changes have occurred and the village has become a center for art, music, shopping, and restaurants resting just outside the entrance of the Biltmore Estate.

The Chapman House is the only cottage within the village that incorporates a mixed occupancy. A two-story structure, the upstairs apartment maintains a lodging facility complete with a full kitchen, bath, bedroom, foyer, living room, parking, and back porch overlooking the village. The downstairs is currently the home of Curtis Wright Outfitters, a retail store with goods for fishing, hiking and outdoor lifestyle.

The historic nature of the structure is preserved with original hardwood floors, doors, hardware, lathe and plaster walls, exterior appearance, and overall ambiance.

Enjoy the convenience of walking to dozens of local shops and restaurants, driving five minutes to downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, or visiting the Biltmore Estate located two tenths of one mile away. Experience the diversity of four seasons with warm springs, green summers, colorful falls, and cool winters. The Chapman House offers a unique experience set within Historic Biltmore Village, located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.

Great stay experience in historic Biltmore ville

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and enjoyed our stay. Convenience of washer and dryer. We enjoyed sitting on the porch for meals and drinks in the evening. Door had digital lock which was convenient. The cottage has only one bedroom which is perfect for a couple. Large living room for sitting on the couch and reading. We had one night were there was some traffic noise from cleaning trucks in the early morning, but the convenient location was worth this minor inconvenience. Corner Kitchen restaurant is directly across street. Definitely would reserve again.

Just as described...a lovely historic building

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lots of windows create a bright and sunny space....at least during our weekend. The unit was spotless and well equipped. Restaurants are within walking distance, and they range from casual to high end. Don't miss the champaigne bar/ bookstore downtown.

Morning coffee on the deck was the best way to start the day

I agree with previous reviews tho' that the steep steps are a consideration, but I am 70 and had no problem. Of course I also joined my daughter on some hikes off the Blue Ridge Parkway! The couch bed is for only the very young.

Would definitely stay again.

Well located, charming apartment

  • 5 of 5

Near major sights and easy access to downtown Asheville, this apartment is well located and large for a couple. We enjoyed the porch/terrace two nights, used the coffee maker to have a cup of coffee (need to bring or buy some as there is none in the apartment), and used the restaurant across the street as well as the bakery across from the restaurant. Would use the apartment again if back in the area. Clean, comfortable, and quiet.

Cute & Convenient!

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my 2 weeks stay at the Chapman house very much. I loved the historic charm--the wide moldings, the old wood floors, the fireplaces in all the rooms. The home is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you might need to prepare a meal, and while the kitchen is new, it looks appropriate for the home. My favorite place was the rooftop patio, which was a great spot to watch the ever-changing canvas of the setting or rising sun. The best thing is that the Chapman House is literally steps away from restaurants and great shopping.

The down side to this convenience is that you're right in the middle of a commercial area, with all the noises that go along with it--trash and recycling trucks, street sweepers, leaf blowers, people laughing and talking. If you're a light sleeper, you will need ear plugs, and maybe even an eye shade.

The Chapman House is convenient to all Asheville has to offer. You could spend your time exploring Biltmore Village, which has a lot to offer right outside your door. It's also right around the corner from the Antique Tobacco Barn (great fun if you like antiquing and upcycling), and just a 5 minute drive from the River Arts District and downtown.

Wonderful cozy historic home in Biltmore Village

  • 5 of 5

You could not ask for a more convenient location to explore all Asheville has to offer. The coziness of the Chatham house was perfect for my husband and me. Everything we needed for our stay was included in this well equipped home. We enjoyed eating on the porch, walking across the street to an incredible bakery, and a very good restaurant, and walking to the interesting shops and galleries in the historic Biltmore Village. We highly recommend this home to anyone who likes the privacy of their own lodging versus a large busy hotel. The pictures of this home are accurate and the cleanliness was first rate.
