|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Accessed by a private shell-paved road, the 4-bedroom house is set back into acres of wooded forest with commanding, uninterrupted views of the Chesapeake Bay. With over 27 acres of Private Beach. While care has been taken in creating an environment for getting away from the distractions of 21st C life; wireless access, I-pod docking stations, wide screen TVs and other amenities are availabl. A large, southern-facing porch and generous decks are perfect for lounging, reading, and gatherings.
The Beach: With over 27 acres of private beach, there really aren’t many places like this left either in the United States or abroad. With a series of wind swept yet gentle dunes the beach provides the perfect place to stroll, or sun bathe. A winding walkway of salt treated lumber (built to protect the dunes and sea grasses), takes you from the back door to the beach. The house is a perfect getaway for writers and artists.
My husband and I rented this home for a much needed vacation. The house was clean, modern and perfect. We loved the open living rm, dining rm, and kitchen combination. We spent alot of time cooking and relaxing in front of the fireplace. The beach was perfect. Our dogs loved chasing the crabs on the beach. We didn't see a single soul on the beach for the full week we stayed. We would definitely go back. If you are looking for peace and solitude - this is it.
The house and beach were just lovely. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the location immensely. We wanted quiet and privacy and found it. Our dog loved it too.
We spent one summer week in this lovely house. I agree with the previous reviewer that the actual beauty of the house and the surroundings far exceeds what is shown on pictures and what we expected.
Everything was perfect from day one to the end. Sara, the hostess took very good care of us.
Long private beach was unbeatable but the house and the grounds were lovely as well. The kitchen is very well equipped, even for the sophisticated cook; there is a screened porch with the grill, big table and window benches, where we prepared and enjoyed most of our meals and relaxed thereafter. We had pretty good weather but even when it was raining, staying in the house was very relaxing.
It was a great find, we hope to come back there one day.
If you are looking for peace and quiet on the bay, this is the place! The property far exceeded our expectations. You can literally walk for hours along the private stretch of beach and the dogs absolutely loved running until they could not run anymore.
The house is just fantastic and the views from the livings area and bedrooms are just overwhelming. The home was immaculate and it was a joy not to have to pack any linens or towels since all was provided. Tom's mom Sara, the concierge, was a delight and was always available to provide any assistance and information/suggestions about the local area.
There is also a vineyard about 15-20 miles away which I hear has very good wines. There are not a whole lot of dining options so be prepared to do some cooking in the gourmet kitchen and grilling on the built-in patio grill.
We will definitely be back in the Fall for a full week this time.
The property far exceeds the pictures on the web. The accommodations are amazing, comfortable, and delightful. Stargazing is highly recommended as it gets darker there than I thought possible. We actually witnessed two shooting stars in one evening. Will definitely return.
The Chesapeake Bay is the world's largest estuary. Because of the Bay the Eastern Shore peninsula enjoys a moderate yet four season climate. With numerous varieties of wildlife on both sides of the Eastern Shore, the Shore provides endless opportunities for sportsmen and environmentalists alike. Easy day trips to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and Fredericksburg are made possible by the proximity to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which connects the shore to the mainland. Finally, because of its remote geographical location the Eastern Shore has remained a step or two back in time, and as such has created a community of people whose independence and self-reliance is still strongly characteristic of the Shore today.
