About Woody Pool
Joan and I live in Kansas City, Mo. Joan is an Registered Nurse and I am a retired Police Detective. Between our travels to St. John and our 5 grandkids, we stay pretty busy.
Woody Pool purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Woody Pool chose Estate Carolina
While on a cruise to St. Thomas in 1997, we took a day sail and the captain recommended we try St. John. The next year we took his advise and went to St. John our first time. We feel in love with the island and traveled back many times before we bought the lot that Blue Palm Villa sits on in 2000. In December 2004, we started the building process, completing it in December 2006.
What makes this Villa unique
We stayed at many villas during our travels to St. John and during the building process. We took notes of the things that we liked most about each villa. We wanted great views, easy access, beautiful landscapping with lots of palm trees. We wanted the villa to look like a home, not a rental property. We kept these thouhgts in mind when we began the building process. Our villa is in Upper Carolina and there is easy access. We have breath taking views of the sailboats in Coral Bay Harbor as well as panoramic views of the Bordeaux Mountain range and valley. Our furnishings are island themed, with many items coming from various islands that we have traveled to. Our staff has been with us since we began renting in 2006. They take very good care of the villa as well as making sure that the villa is ready for each guest.

Amazing visit at Blue Palm Villa on March 31 - April 3, 2018
We had a wonderful visit in St. John. Your home is beautiful and very welcoming from the moment you enter. The kitchen is very well stocked for whatever you might want to cook and the beds are most comfortable. The views from the house are amazing inspite of the effects of the hurricanes last Fall. It really has greened up already. We visited a number of beaches and enjoyed snorkeling at Trunk Bay. The beaches and water are just as phenomenal as they ever were. Thank you for making your home available to us.
Wonderful Villa - More Beautiful Than The Photos
We weren't sure what to expect since it was our first trip back to USVI post hurricanes Irma and Maria. Although it was hard to see the destruction caused by the hurricanes, it was evident that St. John has accomplished a great deal of building restoration and the stunning natural beauty of the area survived.
When we arrived at Blue Palm Villa, it exceeded our expectations. The property is well designed, beautifully appointed, comfortable, immaculate, well managed and could not have been better. The views are stunning and the location is perfect. We worked out in the morning, jumped into the pool to cool off and enjoyed all that St. John and Coral Bay has to offer. There are a number of restaurants, grocery stores and beaches nearby. One of our favorite days started with a hike on Ram Head Trail from Salt Pond Bay Beach. Francis Bay Beach (our favorite beach) is a short drive from the villa. We absolutely loved staying at Blue Palm Villa and will definitely be back.
I would highly recommend Blue Palm Villa. We were three couples and the villa was perfect. Very clean and well kept. Would definitely recommend. Hope to come back again and would stay at Blue Palm Villa.
Thank you for your review. We are glad that our villa met your expectations. Both us and St. John would welcome you back as soon as possible!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Blue Palm Villa. It's quiet, clean and comfortable.
Thank you so much for taking your time to write a review of our home in St. John, VI. We are glad that our home met your expectations and you enjoyed your time there. Please consider Blue Palm Villa again on a future visit to the island.

FIVE WEEKS IN PARADISE
We just returned from a 5 week stay, our 21st Caribbean Island, our 4th VBRO. This trip ranks at the top of our list of favorites.
Others have done so well describing the Villa; let me touch on some other things that might prove valuable.
The Blue Palm in Coral Bay is a perfect location; far enough from busy Cruz Bay but an easy drive to all of the beaches. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. Just the mention of a minor issue resulted in a maintenance man the next day. From our experience, the Villa is a good value. If staying more than a week, be sure and consider Woody’s suggestions for cost savings. The option of adding on bedrooms on an as needed basis was great.
The island is fantastic, a little busier than some we’ve visited but not overly so. If you like beaches, this is for you. They don’t get any better. There is also a good selection of snorkeling options. Do buy the book “St. John Off the Beaten Track by G. Singer” in advance of your trip. It’s a wealth of information. Get going by 9:30 AM or opt for a later start at 2:30 PM when some beach visitors are leaving. Parking and the selection of a beach spot requires some planning. Go on line and check the Cruise ship days and the swell (surf) report. Avoid the north shore beaches on Cruise Day, although Francis is a less visited option. If the swell is high, pick another day for Trunk or Cinnamon Bay. Do take the time to explore one or two of the plantation ruins. It will give you a real sense of the Island history.
The small grocery stores in Coral Bay have a good selection of what you will find on Mainland US. Prices are high but then, everything made a long voyage!
Coral Bay has a few nice restaurants, no need to go all the way to Cruz with impossible parking. The Aqua Bistro was a great place for dinner. There are nightly specials like All You Can Eat Lobster and Prime Rib Night. We had four dinners, all were excellent. Pickles isn’t fancy but has a good breakfast, serves great coffee and has fresh cold cuts and salads. At Indigo, dishes were a bit spicy for our liking but that’s personal. The made to order pizza was very good. Miss Lucy’s offered a nice lunch right on the water’s edge. Past the Love City Grocery store is a garden/landscaping center, ask for their fresh greens and vegetables. They supply many of the Island restaurants.
Yesterday was the first day of Spring but we have foot of snow yet to melt. Five weeks was obviously not long enough.
Thank you for your review. It was a pleasure to have you at our home. After communicating with you, I knew it was in good hands! Your suggestions for the beaches are spot on. I also concur with you on the restaurants in Coral Bay and the ease of parking as compared to Cruz Bay. Please consider Blue Palm Villa again on your next visit to St. John.

Clean, Spacious, Great View
Blue Palm Villa is one of the cleanest and best maintained villas we have stayed at in 8 trips to St John.
The layout was perfect for our extended family visit. My parents took the master in the main house while my husband and I took the upstairs bedroom and the kids took the lower bedroom. The upstairs bedroom was perfect for us and gave us plenty of privacy. I love that it has a kitchen. All the bedrooms are very spacious even with king size beds. We had everything we needed in the kitchen for preparing meals. I especially love the blue tooth stereo system with indoor and outdoor speakers. And of course we enjoyed the pool and the sundeck.
The owners were very responsive and helpful with all my questions before and after arrival. We had a nasty thunderstorm one night that knocked out the cable box and TV in the main house, power to the lower bedroom (but not the A/C and bath), wifi, and all phone service. Erickson came out as soon as we could get in touch with him to fix things and Woody also followed up with us. Everyone we dealt with in renting and staying at Blue Palm Villa was very professional.
Coral Bay and vicinity. Blue Palm Villa is located in the prestigious area of Upper Carolina overlooking the Coral Bay harbor. Blue Palm Villa is located approximately one mile from Coral Bay. Coral Bay is a small, growing community located about a 20-25 minute drive from the Cruz Bay ferry dock. Experience St. John 'the way it used to be' here, but with everyday conveniences and comforts. Coral Bay has a growing number of restaurants and shops and lively in-season entertainment.
