Long Beach is also the most centrally located and the most reasonably priced of any costal community. You can’t find better weather or more friendly people. Think twice before you chose another location.

Purchased Ocean Front Duplex as a home and investment...turned into vacation rental in 2006. First guest were a family from Dublin, Ireland arriving on July 19th, 2006

What makes this apartment unique

Beach access, beautiful views of Santa Catalina Island, Queen Mary, Oil Island Etc. No street sweepers...Long Beach has street sweepers once or twice a week, but not on this street.

Home away from home

This is a nice older home with a partial view of the ocean and pier.. It has plenty of room for a large group. It could stand a kitchen/bathroom remodel but it does the job. The kitchen is well equipped with just about anything you need. The best part is that the beach is just around the corner as well as the grocery store. Lots of beach to walk (its not called Long Beach for nothing). Overall it was a comfortable home away from home. Another nice part was that you don't have to fight for a parking spot on the street like many of the other rentals that are close to the beach. I would have gave it more stars if the kitchen and bathrooms were remodeled.

Good overall

We overall enjoyed our stay. This is a nice older property with the top floor of a duplex and HUGE patio. The unit itself is a hodgepodge of renovated and original areas, but served its purpose for four guests plus having a few friends over. The six burner stove, large patio, and grill setup could make it easy to host more. The owner was easy to work with and gave us a weekday rate on short notice during a January long weekend. Just a few comments:

- As others have pointed out in the reviews, this is really a two bedroom property with an addition on the master bedroom that contains two sets of bunk beds. Its a great setup for a couple with kids that is splitting the unit with someone else or for a crash-pad for a large group, but the "3rd bedroom" isn't private and goes through another room.

- A few things on the VRBO listing need to be updated: There is no coffee grinder in the unit and it lists 15 bicycles, but when we messaged the owner, "all of the bicycles were lost or damaged". 15 to zero is a big discrepancy, especially when staying in a area without a rental car and expecting to have bikes to get to downtown Long Beach or Belmont Shores.

The booking process through VRBO was funky, I was quoted one price/security deposit, but then if I didn't buy the extra $170 in insurance for four nights, the deposit jumped way up. Fortunately the owner refunded the deposit in about a week. The non-insured security deposit seemed excessive, but once we saw how large the patio area was, I'm sure there are stories for why its so high.

Owner's Response: it states in ALL our advertising and now has been added to info e-mail about going thru master bedroom to 3rd bedroom...this guest all of these web site keep changing and you sometimes must go further into description to find. don't member stating 15mbikes at any time...(8)...but all have been lost or broken and sometimes hidden. tom Duncan

Older but warm place.

We loved our stay. The property is close to everything. Shopping and the beach were all within walking distance. Thomas and Susan happened to be right downstairs and were extremely responsive to any requests we had.

Wonderful people and a very warm environment. We had an awesome time!

Great location!!

Our kids had a great time going from the house to the beach and back again. We all fit comfortably in the house and enjoyed using the patio for a group meal!

Family reunion

It was a nice place to stay for a big group of people. We were able to cook and grill for a pre- wedding party dinner. Close to the ocean and a store and the parakeets came to visit every evening
