Great new house for comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was new, very attractive and very clean. Well stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our stay, plus some.

The drive to Taos Ski Valley was easy and skiing was great! We enjoyed coming back to town each night and the fireplace was a welcome sight at the end of each day!

Recommended for any family who wants a little more space to relax in than a hotel, enjoys cooking in some and doesn't mind the drive to the mountain equally good for 1-2 couples.

COOL IN THE HEAT

  • 5 of 5

It's 95 degrees in Taos and I rented a place with no air conditioning! Fear not, open the windows early and let the fresh Taos air in. Cool in no time. Enjoy the shaded covered patio meanwhile. Nice privacy. Barbara, please enclose that awesome patio and increase the rate. BEST HOUSEKEEPER IN THE SOUTHWEST! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Leave it that way! I did. THIS PLACE IS SIMPLY AWESOME. Enjoy.

Wonderful stay in Taos!

Very nice, clean home in a great location and a pretty view of the mountains. Owner is very responsive and helpful for any questions. We had plenty of room to relax after being on the mountain all day. Would definitely stay again!

Great winter family vacation

  • 4 of 5

My family rented the Casa de Taos for a week vacation between Christmas and New Years. We had an excellent stay in this quaint and clean two bedroom, two bath house.

As it was winter, the radiant heat floors were a nice welcome. It was comfortable walking around in stocking feet even during the cold weather days. The kiva fireplace kicked out the heat as well and added nice charm to the main room. The beds were firm, pillows fluffy and cotton sheets and towels subtle.

Barb, the owner, has beutifully decorated the house in traditional New Mexico design. Even the feista dinner ware matches the Adobe-styled walls and southwestern art prints. The use of skylights and plentiful Windows bring natural daylight to the Casa.

The kitchen was well supplied, including a full selection of spices that you could use. There weren't any kitchen items we were longing for, everything was there we needed: coffee filters, toaster, blender, etc.

The garage was clean and easy to access. Like most garages, you won't be able to pull your car in with a ski box on top. No biggie, as there is a nice gravel space right next to the house you can use.

The location of the Casa is very convenient. Being on the southern end of town makes it easy to get to the supermarkets and Walmart, gas stations and the lot. It's only a few minutes to drive into Taos town square. Though we drove up to Taps Ski Valley four of the seven days we were there, the drive was an enjoyable one. You will want to get an early start to beat traffic.

We were very glad to have selected Casa de Taos and hope to stay there soon again.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

It close by car to anything you'd need: recycling is a couple blocks away on Bertha (behind Allsups), Albertsons, Smiths and Wal*Mart, Kit Carson Park and the Plaza are less than a five minute drive. Well, maybe a little more on the weekends, when the main drag tends to crowd up. It is not walkable to the Plaza unless you like very long walks - which would be better saved for hiking in the hills anyway.

The house itself was spotless and well stocked, and the owner was friendly and responsive. A tip regarding the back doors: to lock, lift the handles UP and turn the locking knob. You'll need to lock them because the wind, even in summertime, will blow them open.

Local establishment plugs: New Mexico River Tours and Blue Heron Brewery, Taos Diner, Alley Cantina (not so much for the food), the Taos Inn (for music and food), The Gorge, Five Star Burger and Yu Garden. If you have young children there is a toy store and playground behind the Alley Cantina that they will love (leave a few bucks in one of the donation boxes!).
