The house is so lovely, it always feels like home when we get there. We are Dutch and have been in this cozy house many times already. The first time we felt so welcomed by Irene, the owner, and now every time we see each other the contact just is great. The character of her and her family is in and around the house!
This cabin is perfect for the couple looking for a romantic getaway. Perfectly appointed, my husband and I literally could not have asked for anything more. The decor was extremely tasteful, and we had absolutely everything we needed (and more). Rustic exposed beams, skylights, deck, and cozy fireplace made this midweek escape one of the best we've ever had. A large selection of books, DVDs, and brochures for all the local parks, restaurants, vineyards, museums, and villages ensured that we spent our time enjoyably. The bedroom was surprisingly spacious with a big comfortable bed, fine linen and bedspread, and perfectly furnished. The bathroom was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed cooking our dinner in the well-stocked kitchen with the local produce we picked up during the day, and also appreciated the wireless internet connection with helped us keep tabs on what was happening in the "real world". There was plenty of closet space for us to keep our things and even a washer and dryer. This cabin is truly perfect, and we plan on staying again.
Came up here for a weekend of hiking and relaxation. This cottage delivered. Big time. Everything was neat and clean. Wonderful porch to grab a glass of wine and/or cold beer. The cottage owner was very helpful in providing details and attraction suggestions prior to arrival. For NYCers looking for an easy, fun getaway. This is the place.
We spent a wonderful anniversary weekend at the Sky Island Cottage. The cottage was immaculate and Irene provided us with everything we could have needed and was on hand in case we needed her. The main house is directly next to the cottage, but all windows point in the other direction, giving the cottage privacy.
The property was serene and the canal trail was right outside the front door, making for perfect walks through the woods (including a small waterfall). Our only complaint was that we didn't have snow, and I'm sure if Irene could have made it happen she would have.
For adventurers, we highly recommend the Bonticou Crag Hike at the Mohonk Preserve. At the top of the trail there is an optional rock climb which is difficult, but leads to amazing views. We can't wait to come back in the summer!
Such an amazing weekend at this beautiful cottage. Immaculate, very cozy place with everything you could possibly want in a romantic getaway! Irene goes above and beyond to make your stay the best it could be. Much thanks, we will definitely be returning!
My husband and I spent 3 days at the cottage and it was magical. Irene has provided you with everything you could possibly want for a relaxing stay at her beautiful cottage.
Having just spent the past weekend in this little cottage, I can truly say that it was a wonderful experience. This small, yet cozy cottage at the end of Main St was warm and inviting, with all the amenities a couple could ask for. The kitchen was supplied with a variety of pots, pans and utensils so that cooking piratically anything we wanted was no hassle. The fireplace was warm and helped to set a romantic atmosphere, while the bedroom accentuated the rustic decorum of the entire scene. While Irene's house is a stones throw away, the cottage maintained the notion that you were in a little hideaway. I would highly recommend this cottage, and would love to thank Irene for her wonderful hospitality and ensuring my girlfriend and I had a lovely weekend!
