Overall we were very impressed with the property and the living quarters.
We really enjoyed the seclusion that the Treehouse gave us. We especially liked launching our kayaks from the private shoreline and paddling around the surrounding area. We saw bald eagles, seals and osprey. We look forward to coming back and staying at the Treehouse again soon.
The Tree House is exactly as it looks in the photos: perched in the trees, secluded, yet close to All the treasures of Mt Desert Island. It was perfect for two of us and our dogs. We did not use the bungalow, but that makes it equally perfect for four people. The main cabin layout was delightful. You can have coffee on the deck in the morning overlooking the cove, or eat in the wonderful dining nook with a huge picture window that feels like you're truly in a Treehouse. The wood pellet stove is so easy to use and makes the living area really cozy. The kitchen appliances are all new and there is even an apartment size stacked washer and dryer. Scott and Susan were wonderful, there and helpful if you wanted them, but totally non intrusive. If you're there with dogs, Little Long Pond is a MUST. There's miles of carriage roads that connect to Acadia at the Jordan Pond House, but no bicycles are allowed on the Little Long Pond roads and dogs are allowed off leash! There are also miles of hiking trails. We went there everyday. It's a little hard to find the first time, but definitely worth locating it. The Traveling Lobster shack is only a couple miles from the cabin. We got steamed lobsters, mussels and corn and took them home to eat in the Treehouse. We looked everyday but didn't see any seals in the cove, but that would have been the icing on the cake. Our stay in the Treehouse was truly delightful, definitely recommend it.
Lovely trip at the charming tree house!
The tree house on Mount Desert Island is definitely worth the trip. Situated on a mossy, tree covered hill a few short minutes from a small bay/cove on the island, this house and property were both perfect for a stay with our adventurous dogs. Although we were there quite late in the season for hiking and biking in Acadia, the cool mornings and evenings on the lovely deck and looking out on the water and trees were perfect for us. All the fun attractions at Acadia are a short drive, and Bar Harbor isn't far either. Southwest Harbor (our favorite town) was close also. The only thing we might suggest is coming a week or so earlier, as some attractions like the lobster pounds on the water and some restaurants were closed for the season. But, we had no major problems with the house and would certainly return. The master bed was comfortable and the shower's water pressure was great. The separate "guest" house is perfect for another couple or older children. Overall, we had a great time and hope to be back again!
Peaceful, secluded hideaway
What a beautiful, peaceful place in the trees by the water! The main house had just the right amount of space with lots of windows and great views! The house was clean and had everything we needed to cook our meals. It was great having the extra guest house for family to use. The owner checked on us to make sure we had all that we needed. We enjoyed the seals in the cove, and were close to hiking, kayaking and driving to Bar Harbor. This is a true gem, and we hope to come back soon!
Thank you for the positive review! I cant figure out if you gave us four stars or five stars. The first page showed four but this page shows five. If five, thank you very much. If four, I'm curious why not five given your glowing write up.
Nonetheless, it is great review and we really appreciate it.
The main attraction of the Treehouse is its seclusion, its incredible views and its private access to the Western Bay. You'll have a access to a private launch area where you can launch kayaks, swim or lay in the sun. The kayaking in the area is relatively protected and among the best in the area. Western Bay is one of the 'go to' spots for for many of the kayak guides in the area. Alternatively, You are within an easy drive of all the MDI towns and the attractions of Acadia National Park. Southwest Harbor (7 miles) has good restaurants, a superb grocery and wine store, a supermarket, a bakery and a lovely harbor. Bar Harbor is larger and always busy. The stores, restaurants and bars stay open late. Acadia National Park is all over the island and offers incredible hiking, the carraige trails, the Park Loop Road, Jordan Pond House, Thunder Hole etc. etc. There are ponds nearby for fresh water swimming or fishing, kayak rentals nearby, and even riding stable in the park offers horses for hire. Golf and tennis in are available in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor and there are professional gardens to visit in Northeast Harbor. Whether you chose to spend the day kayaking in your back yard or exploring Mount Desert Island at the end of the day you'll return to the peace tranquility of the Treehouse down Green Island Lane.
