A Perfect Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at the Royal River House. Our family enjoyed everything there was to offer, long dog walks along the river, fishing off the dock, kayaking first thing in the morning, coffee on the porch and a quick drive into the city for great dinners and shopping. The owners were easy to work with and the house was clean and welcoming. We hope to be back sometime soon and we would suggest the Royal River House to anyone looking for a relaxing peaceful retreat!

Five stars are not enough

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to unwind, our daughter (the school teacher) from her just ended school year and us from the rat race of the big city (Chicago). Our issue is finding accommodations that will allow dogs. When I stumbled on to the Royal River House the photographs and location seemed perfect. We enjoyed an added bonus when my sister and brother-in-law joined us, so the family reunion was in full swing! From the moment my wife stepped out of the car we knew we had found paradise. The pictures do not do the property justice. The accommodations were just like home. Keith and Kathy were friendly, honest and very helpful while showing us around and giving us the "nickel tour". After stocking up with supplies we parked the car and it did not leave the driveway until our stay was over. The neighbors were friendly. The dogs enjoyed the walks along the river (we did too). The morning mist on the river made for a very picturesque setting. The evening fire pit on the deck. The wonderful sunsets from the front porch. The peace and quiet were just what the doctor ordered. With this being a short drive from Chicago we will definitely be back.

Serenity is an understatement

  • 5 of 5

Our family's stay at the Royal River House was nothing short of outstanding. We were there for a rest from the rat race and we totally forgot about the stresses of the working world minutes after our arrival. The owners were eager to please and the house was immaculate. They even allowed us to bring our dog.

Breakfast on the back porch, coffee on the wrap-around porch, and picnics on the St. Joseph River on the riverside deck was a dream. Unlike most river properties, mosquitoes and ticks are not a bother; the few residents on this street all have their properties commercially sprayed to eliminate these critters.

There's plenty to do in the area from romps in nature to fine dining and everything in between. Miniature golf, music, and dancing. We even enjoyed quiet walks in the evening, on the road along the river, meeting and chatting with the incredibly friendly neighbors. And did I mention no mosquitoes?

Our family and our Belgian Tervuren, could not have picked a more serene and restful venue. My only reservation in recommending this remarkable vacation home to you, is that once you know about it, you'll make it more difficult for the rest of us to stay there again. Do yourself a big favor and consider staying in this wonderful place. You won't be sorry.

Had high expectations, but they were surpassed!!!

  • 5 of 5

I'm sending this to supplement the written comments that we left in your guest book. As we said, we had a great time there ... multiple trips to the beach, toured a winery and did the dune buggy ride at Saugatuck and visits to a couple of our old standby restaurants (Clementine's Too for perch and Capozio's for pizza). What I want to add is that your photos don't do the place justice. Updated furniture in the living room, flat panel TVs throughout, comfortable rockers on the front porch, and a stainless steel refrigerator that's newer than what's pictured to name just a few things. You have a great place and we look forward to returning. Thanks!!!

Comfortable and Charming

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the Royal River House in June 2014 and found everything to be as described by the pictures and the description. It was very nice, comfortable as it provided our family a very relaxing stay. Great front porch overlooking the river gave us time to kick back and enjoy the wooded setting. Rooms were fine and the kitchen area was very sufficient. Thanks also to the owners for their gracious hospitality!

Comforts of Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the Royal River House during the off-season, while we were between homes. I have to say, we were both pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we felt. The Royals, our gracious hosts, went out of their way to make us feel at home. We enjoyed the sunsets, watching the river roll by, and the breezy evenings. Top notch accommodations from which we were sad to depart. Do yourself a favor and rent this lovely home to experience true relaxation on the riverside!
