The holiday house 'pri Pinku' (Stanoviš?e 20) lies in the upper part of the small village of Stanovišče in the Breginj area.

The village lies just underneath the Stol mountain and has a beautiful view of the Nadiža river and the surrounding mountains Mija, Matajur and Krn. The village is divided into the old and the new part, where you can find mostly summer houses. The Breginj area lies in the Nadiža river valley between Staro selo and Breginj in the Slovenian far west. There are 9 villages on the sunny slopes of Stol above the Nadiža river. The preserved Venetian architectural heritage can nowadays be seen in the restored village centre in Breginj and in the villages of Logje and Robidišče. The biggest tourist attractions of the Breginj area are of course the Nadiža river and the Napoleon's bridge, which have attracted bathers from near and far for ages. The picturesque stone bridge from the Roman period across a narrow river canyon supposedly got its name from Napoleon's troops. The beautiful view from the bridge of the emerald green pools will definitely leave you fascinated.

The Stol mountain range is perfect for everyone who loves nature, hiking, paragliding and hang-gliding, and cyclists can enjoy numerous cycling trails here. You can also explore the nearby Venetia (Prossenicco , Platischis, Montemaggiore, Canebola) or go shopping in the well-known shopping centers of Cividale del Friuli or Udine.

Lovely stay in Stanovisce

  • 5 of 5

We got a lovely welcome from Matejka, and indeed her sister, who helped us on occasion during the week. The accommodation was very comfortable (there were seven of us), and the weather was very hot for 5 of the 7 days. Our activities included regular bathing in the Nadiza river, both by "Napoleon's Bridge" and a bit further downriver where it's wider and deeper although less picturesque; a couple of visits to Kobarid, which, under its Italian name Caporetto, gets a mention in Hemingway's novel "A Farewell To Arms", and a trail through the forest to the amazing Kozjak waterfalls and the beautiful Soca valley; and longer distance visits to Lake Bled through some spectacular Alpine scenery and the pleasant town of Kranskja Gora; and, of course, the beautiful capital Ljubljana, which is a couple of hours away.

We loved the garden. The girls could play on the swing or in the sandpit in the garden, and we greatly enjoyed our breakfasts and evening meals outside, with the lovely Alpine views. At the top of the village, the children could visit Matejka's ponies and sheep, and braver walkers than us can continue to the top of the Stol, the mountain above the village, and a hang-glider's paradise. Slovenia is beautiful, the people are very welcoming, and the weather was generally very good. All in all, a wonderful week, completed by a visit to beautiful Trieste. Highly recommended!

“Ruime en goed uitgeruste woning in gehucht onder

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable home in a picturesque location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at "Pri Pinku" which is located in the village of Stanovisce. This 4 bedroom home is spacious, clean, well equipped and offers the warmth of any family home. There is a beautiful garden/courtyard to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese and a balcony where you can have your morning coffee and admire the picturesque views of the valley and mountains. It has a large living area with fireplace and a modern kitchen/dining area. An added bonus is the onsite parking. Be sure to take a stroll to the upper part of the village at the foot of the mountain, where the owner Matejka has ponies and offers a wonderful experience for both adults and children to play and roam around in a country setting. With the Stol mountain almost in our backyard we couldn't resist but walk along a number of tracks. One of my favourite reasons for staying here not only is the tranquil setting, but it is central to a number of attractions. We enjoyed swimming at the nearby Nadiža River, where the water is clear and a popular tourist spot. We also visited Napoleon's bridge and hiked through lush walking tracks. Kobarid is close by and provides you with necessary amenities including some delicious restaurants. The property owners are friendly, responsive and will always ensure you have a wonderful stay. If you're short of ideas, just ask Matejka who will be happy to give you some tips. I've visited Slovenia a number of times and I highly recommend this property for those who want to experience true Slovenian hospitality.
