Hi, we are Joe and Lin. Until fifteen years ago, we lived in Iowa dreaming of a southerly retreat during the long Mid-Western winters. We dreamt of a place that would offer us a climate we could actively enjoy year round, that our grown children would love to visit, yet also a place that would create great memories for our young grandchildren. For us that means hiking, fishing, lakes, more fishing, relaxing views, community festivals and plenty to do outdoors – like fishing! Murphy, North Carolina is now our adopted home and we are pleased to say, our kids and grand kids all love it here!
Joe Senger purchased this cottage in 2006
On our first Appalachian vacation many years ago we found the getaway we (then as Mid-Westerners) had always dreamt of: mountains, lakes, temperate weather, sweeping views, and welcoming all-American neighbors. This lake house has all of these and everything else we love about North Carolina living. It gives us a way to share with our family and with guests from all over America and the world what we love about our chosen home. It is our family’s pride to pass on this experience on to you.
Unparalled relaxation, and one of the best docks on Lake Chatuge. Championship level fishing, almost 200 feet of private deep water lakeshore / beach. Amazing mountain vistas and sunset views from the elevated private lakeside firepit and covered porch. Really fast wifi! This lake gave us the best of what the area had to offer: full access to a world class fishing lake with the privacy and tranquility of being in a cove. Great views of the mountains framed by trees. Family owned and operated with pride.
We so enjoyed staying in this wonderful cabin! No need for A/C as the shady trees kept the cabin at comfortable temperatures during our entire trip. Enjoyed having meals outside on the screened in porch with scenic lake views. Also had fun playing Foosball and air hockey in addition to watching some DVDs downstairs. The snacks provided at check in were appreciated. Had a FANTASTIC time down at the lake. Beautiful views and warm swims were enjoyed by all! Kayaking was a great way to relax too, especially early morning! Thanks again for a wonderful time in your cosy cabin. We hope to come back soon.
Very cozy cabin with stunning lake views!
Very clean, leaves were blown, etc.
Owner great to work with, indoor gas logs were very nice in the cozy den area.
The perfect home away from home -- and they've thought of EVERYTHING! I'll definitely go again if I can.
Cabin is set up for a great get away to relax and enjoy Lake Chatuge. Well maintained, clean, awesome views from screened back deck, easy access to the lake and dock. Fire pit by the lake in the evening topped the cake! The owner, Mr. Joe is awesome as well. Enjoyed our time here over spring break and plan to return.
We enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake from the cabin. The steps down to the lake were well laid out and beautifully landscaped. There were sitting benches along the way. We stayed here over the New Year's holiday and had a wonderful relaxed time with lots of laughs. Thank you, Joe, for your prompt responses and for letting us rent your beautiful property.
Very well equipped retreat with lots of space. Accurate website information was very helpful. We did not see the note until leaving about using the neighboring driveway to go down to the dock as it is quite a few steps for anyone with mobility issues. The dock is very nice and has chairs for seating as does the porches on both sides of the cabin. Our stay was short but we visited Crane Creek Vineyards and drove the Ocoee Scenic Biway on Highway 64 in eastern Tennessee. If you do this you must do the trip up Chilhowee Mountain for an easy drive with awesome views. The only thing we did not bring was tin foil or containers for leftovers which is minor but nice.
John C. Campbell Folk School, Georgia Mountain Fair (July & October), Cherokee Indian Reservation and Casino (Cherokee, NC), Dollywood (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN), Biltmore Estate (Asheville), 20+ waterfalls, Cherohala Skyway. Helen, GA (Bavarian Village), Fall trees Great hiking in state park, Rim Trail and Appalachian Trail and more.
