About the property

- 2 BR, 2 BA, .

Our home has a large kitchen, dining and living area with windows across width of house overlooking Canyon Lake. There are 3 additional 'living areas' outside: the 'back' porch directly off the house with ceiling fans and a large picnic table that seats 10; the lower deck with two tables providing seating for 8; a stone patio nestled in oaks and cedars just above the Lake level. A hot tub is on a separate extended deck where evenings can be enjoyed under the star-lit night and overlooking the Lake. Deer visit each morning and evening looking for corn (and in between if you will feed them). Many will eat from your hand. Enjoy water activities in front of the house where you can kayak, boat, sail or play with PWC's. They can be anchored just offshore. Or if you prefer, take a swim and enjoy the cool, refreshing Lake. You may prefer to sit on the swing on the back porch and just watch others below enjoying water activities.

What you have to look forward to!: Feed the deer that congregate at the front door (some will feed from your hand!). Watch the numerous boaters/jet-skiers and other water activity from the privacy of the back porch or lower deck. Enjoy the hot tub while watching the sunset over Canyon Lake or the moon rise above you--or a star-lit night with a shooting star or two--or three! Take the steps down to the Lake to take a dip in the cool. clear, refreshing water of Canyon Lake. Get the kids and go fishing at the water's edge. These are just a few of the amenities available to you if you decide to 'hang' around the house.

Don't Forget to Plan Carefully for the Sunset!: Gather round with your cool refreshments of choice and settle in to watch the unforgettable sunset. Each evening is different so you don't want to miss the show! As the fireball finally settles down behind the hills, toast the wonderful day, ring the bell (located on the back porch) and plan for the next fun-filled day!

Our home is located on grounds that contains 2 homes that can be separately rented, with a vacant lot between, giving lots of room to accommodate an event (i.e., wedding, family reunion, corporate break-out); the two homes together will sleep 12 to 16. Call for information, if interested.

About Shirley or Paul Jauma

Paul and I are from Houston and enjoy traveling throughout the US and abroad. However, our favorite place to be is right here at Canyon Lake and the Texas Hill Country. We love sharing our "special part of the world" with others.

Shirley or Paul Jauma purchased this house in 2006

Why Shirley or Paul Jauma chose Texas Hill Country

Our home on Canyon Lake in the Texas Hill Country affords the ability to enjoy so many activities in the area--we are half way between San Antonio and Austin. With such convenience, we have best of all worlds--water and related activities, beautiful scenery, rural living but close proximity to major metropolitan areas. Our home is quaint and set in a natural environment to enjoy nature at its best.

What makes this house unique

Our home is very special to us . We take pleasure in sharing our labor of love with our guests. The property is purposely kept a bit natural to enjoy nature at its best, deer visiting at our doorstep morning and night and our grey fox making an appearance from the den below the bluff. there is also the fire pit to enjoy smores and most importantly, the pleasures of a natural Canyon Lake shore. Don't forget the incomparable, beautiful Sunsets!!

A Rental that Exceeds Expectation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late afternoon to a yard full of almost-tame Canyon Lake deer and a sense of relief that here was a rental that actually exceeded expection! The house is right on the lake, it was beautifully-decorated, there was nothing lacking in the kitchen or anywhere else. The hot tub was looking right over the lake but still very private. The outdoor stereo speakers allowed us to listen to the tv/CD's while grilling out on the deck. And though there were houses on both sides, we felt very secluded due to the way the house sits on the lot.

We had a great time feeding & photographing the deer; the owners provided a bin of corn for us to feed the deer. We only left to do some riding in the beautiful Texas Hill Country surrounding the home; the rest of the time we just enjoyed the lake and house.

The nearby town offered a well-stocked grocery store, several restaurants, a liquor store - very much more available in the town than we expected.

The owners were great to work with from start to finish. When we couldn't figure out how to turn up the temperature on the hot tub, we called and they not only gave us concise instructions but also had several great suggestions as to what to do in the area.

We had a friend stay overnight who lives about 100 miles from this property. He was so impressed that he got the rental info from me so he can rent it in the future.

We will definitely be back, and will tell anyone interested in a Texas Hill Country rental about this place. It was reasonable, private, well-stocked & beautiful - all the ingredients for a perfect vacation!

Lovely view! Relaxing...

  • 5 of 5

The decks are great, the view is stupendous, the hot tub relaxing, and the furnishings and amenities are perfect. The house was quaint, clean, and well-maintained. It was a great weekend. It was NOT easy to get my kayak down to the water and back up again, but it was still fun and a good workout. haha. I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful get-away.

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent Spring Break 2016 here and absolutely loved it. Clean, organized, and very comfortable. Plenty to do right there at the lake house, we decided to scrap our sightseeing plans and just relax on the lake, in the hot tub, and around the fire pit. Paul and Shirley were a pleasure to work with. All the glowing reviews are 100% accurate. The pictures don't do the place justice, though. It's pretty near perfect.

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic home! Both the location and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Our annual girls' trip (from 4 to 7 girls!) could not have been more enjoyable. Comfy beds, incredible view, roomy kitchen, & all the water access we could ask for kept us all relaxed & happy the whole long weekend. I also think this home would make an awesome romantic stay for 1 or 2 couples! <3

Very lovely, very comfortable!!!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, Paul & Shirley, for the lovely home on Canyon Lake. We all (our friends, also) enjoyed our week staying there. You went beyond

on providing extras---thank you so much. The décor is nicely done.....beds are comfortable. When the one bathroom pipe began to leak,

we were amazed at how quickly you got it fixed!! Thank you for that. We felt right at home there, and the view over the lake is fabulous!

We were there during the hottest time of the year, we think, but we did enjoy sitting out on the swing. That was a relaxing and nice feature,

also. Your pets, the deer, were sweet and fun to feed. It was so hot (high 90s-100 degrees) so we didn't use the hot tub. We know that is a

wonderful extra to have during the cooler months of the year. The extra surprise was actually meeting Paul when we were 'moving in'!!! We

didn't expect that!! We would recommend this for anyone. Thank you for sharing your special place!! Sincerely, Winston & Vicki Lehman....and Duane & Alice Bluhm......Berne, Indiana

Amazing view, with an abundance of wildlife!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely love this place. This is our third time to stay on Canyon Lake, and this is by far our favorite property. If you are an animal lover this is the place to stay. We had the pleasure of seeing at least 18 dear and one time, multiple different song birds, and a fox. This house is truly on the water, you can't get much closer. There's not any obstructed views, in the past we have stayed at homes that have said to be on the water and there is a huge parking lot behind the home, or a road that runs behind the home, this had none of those just a nice walk down to the water. The shoreline is great for swimming ( no cliffs of overgrown vegetation ), and we were also able to anchor our boat as well. The owners were very accommodating to some of our special needs, and very responsive. We will say here again.

Car: necessary

Boat launch is less than one mile from the house. A short 10-minute drive takes you to Crane's Mill Marina where boat slips can be rented on a daily basis and motor/pontoon/sail boat and jet-ski rentals are available. There is a restaurant accessible from the Lake as well as a front drive for vehicles. Drive 15 to 20 minutes to Hwy 306 to tube or fly-fish on the Guadalupe River. Awesome shopping is available in Winberley, Bourne, Gruene, Fredricksbrg, the outlet malls in New Braunfels and San Marcos and, of course, Austin and San Antonio--all can be reached within 30 to 60 minutes (with exception of Fredricksberg which is closer to 80 minutes). Gruene offers live music nightly (summer) in places like historical Gruene Hall. Restaurants abound in these areas or you may prefer a simple home-delivered pizza from Startzville.

Other Activities: Parasailing, Kayaking.
