Spring is the most beautiful of all seasons along the Delaware at The Milford House. Everything around us is coming back to life and all of our senses are challenged by the smells, sights, and sounds of spring. In the early morning hours you can watch the Bald Eagles coasting over the river, you can watch the Great Blue Herons wade in the shallows looking for food, the deer and raccoons come up to the porch sniffing for a meal, the trees and shrubs coming into bloom, the white clouds floating over blue sky and blue water, and the sunsets on the river are spectacular. You can sit on the river porch and watch the day float by or sit on the screen porch on a warm spring evening listening to the birds and that refreshing spring smell of green grass and spring blooms.
If you prefer to explore there is the short walk into town to check out the shops and restaurants, you can walk or ride the Delaware Canal footpath and local roadways, explore the many State and County parks in the area, try your luck with fishing the river or local streams or you can rent a canoe to explore the river in more detail. Whether you want to relax or explore The Milford House is the ideal place to have your vacation or a weekend getaway.

If you are looking for a quiet, restful escape, "The Milford House" is perfect for you. Sit on the River porch under the ceiling fans and enjoy the stunning, unobstructed, waterfront views of the Delaware River; or enjoy a family meal on the large, screened-in side-porch overlooking the large, fenced-in yard. Wildlife, including bald eagles, deer and geese are sure to visit in the evening. In the warmer months you can see the boaters and tubers enjoying the day, while in the cooler months, witness the fall colors and the unique image of a snowy river.
The Milford House was completely renovated in 2017/2018 by the owners, Don & Kathy. Old world charm and lots of attention to detail including exposed beams, bead-board ceilings with fans both inside and outside, beautiful landscaping, random width wood floors, double french doors, floor to ceiling windows, and a warm, gas stove make this house a unique experience for all our guests.
We provide all sheets, towels, and wash cloths. For this there is a small laundry charge in the fee schedule. Should you prefer to bring your own sheets, towels, and wash cloths, please let us know and we will edit the fee charges to delete the laundry fee.

Although our home has beautiful river views, the river bank is steep and access is only for the adventurous. Our grandchildren have negotiated the steep hill several times but it is challenging. There is a boat launch area right across the river on the PA side, just a few minutes away. But there are also numerous areas with river access on both the NJ and PA sides very close by.
There are railroad tracks that run up the river and in front of our home. These tracks are inactive and create a great walking path north and south along the river.
During your stay, if you feel you need to venture out of this quaint location, you can walk 5 minutes into town and dine at one of the local Milford restaurants. If you like Mexican food, try the Blue Corn Grill; for beer lovers you'll need to stop at new Jersey's first craft brewery, the Ship Inn; or have an elegant seafood dinner at the Milford House. For the more adventurous, you can continue to walk (or ride your bikes) across the bridge into Upper Black Eddy, PA and onto the canal path. This historical amenity is a leisurely, flat path that goes along the Delaware River through charming, little towns and next to places like the Homestead General Store where you can stop for unique sandwiches, rich coffee, or tasty ice cream.
