About Barbara Plummer

My husband and I moved to Mid-coast Maine from the Washington My husband and I moved to Maine from Northern Virgina when he retired from the military. I was born in DC and lived in the DC area all my life never feeling like I was in the right place.

All of that changed when we left the rat race and moved to the small community of Bayside. In the village of Bayside the little cottages have names so we started thinking of names for our property and little cottage. Shortly after moving in I was standing at the window marveling at the view and a Bald Eagle landed in a tree in our front yard which overlooks Penobscot Bay. So the name Eagle's Landing became official. And since the cottage overlooks Kelly Cove we named it Cove Cottage. In 20 years this wonderful place I call home has never failed to disappoint.

Barbara Plummer purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Barbara Plummer chose Northport

My husband and I fell in love with this beautiful, unique, waterfront property when we first saw it because of the incredible view and access to Penobscot Bay. The house and cottage needed some TLC which we have done over the years but the location needed no improvement.

What makes this cottage unique

What I love most is the beautiful, peaceful setting. Feels very private but also not isolated. From sunrise to sunset it always offers opportunities to reflect on the wonders of creation and energize your soul .

Peaceful haven.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The quiet surroundings, the careful selection and placement of the beautiful objects and incidentals inside the cottage creating a comfy and interesting environment, plenty of windows to gaze out of in a leisurely fashion at the spring foliage and migrating songbirds, and the magnificant emerging gardens, the opportunity to observe the ins and outs of the daily tides, good areas to hike, a day trip to Acadia, a lighthouse to visit. An easygoing time. We hope to be back. Thanks.

The owners were most gracious. We walked every day on the shoreline road. Beautiful sunrises. We saw eagles on the property two days in a row. We will be back!

Fantastic cottage with dreamy ocean view

  • 5 of 5

Barbara, the owned, is the perfect host and her small cottage is most peaceful, yet only a could of miles from Belfast. Barbara thought of everything! Even binoculars to enjoy the views. Any one wishing for a quiet and charming setting should experience this charismatic space along the ocean. My husband and I simply loved it. The small beach is at your feet, offering you nice walks along the water. We also appreciated the fact we could let our two small dogs run on the beach without a leash. So, it's not surprising our pups enjoyed their stay as much as we did. Dogs owners will agree: it's never easy to find places that allow dogs: this Cove cottage welcomes them. We definitely hope to return.

A little bit of secluded paradise on the bay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the cottage. The owner, Barbara, made sure everything was perfect and then left us to enjoy our time. The cottage is adorable, beautifully kept and perfect for two people. We were able to sightsee during the day and come back to our quiet spot at night. It was a perfect time!

The nearby town of Belfast is a historic place with a lively downtown and many homes of architectural interest. John Villani rated Belfast as the 10th best small art town in his book entitled The 100 Best Small Art Towns(John Muir Publications). There is a large supermarket and farmers market on Fridays. There are good fish markets with lots of lobster, a bakery, several exceptionally good coffee shops offering fine baked goods and sandwiches, and a terrific health food store and co-op. There are several excellent restaurants, an ice cream shop, a wine shop and a candy shop! Also a local movie theater with vintage charm and current movies.

Other shops include women’s clothing, the Green Store selling health and environmental products, a very good kitchen shop and several well-equipped hardware stores. There are three bookstores, one offering a good collection of used books.

Numerous auctions and antique shops in the area.
