About Barbara Plummer

My husband and I moved to Mid-coast Maine from the Washington DC area when he retired from the military. I was born in DC and lived in the DC area all my life never feeling like I was in the right place.

All of that changed when we left the rat race and moved to the small community of Bayside. In the village of Bayside the little cottages have names so we started thinking of names for our property and little cottage. Shortly after moving in I was standing at the window marveling at the view and a Bald Eagle landed in a tree in our front yard which overlooks Penobscot Bay. So the name Eagle's Landing became official. And since the cottage overlooks Kelly Cove we named it Cove Cottage. In 20 years this wonderful place I call home has never failed to disappoint.

Barbara Plummer purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Barbara Plummer chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

My husband and I fell in love with this beautiful, unique, waterfront property when we first saw it because of the incredible view and access to Penobscot Bay. The house and cottage needed some TLC which we have done over the years but the location needed no improvement.

What makes this cottage unique

What I love most is the beautiful, peaceful setting. Feels very private but also not isolated. From sunrise to sunset it always offers opportunities to reflect on the wonders of creation and energize your soul .

Most perfect rental!

  • 5 of 5

My goodness, what can I say. We were fortunate to get this rental for one week. This was the perfect spot for us! We loved the setting. Very private but convenient to Belfast with a beautiful beach and view of Penobscot Bsy. We would love to come back and stay here again. The owner is so helpful and lovely. We could not have chosen a better rental! Thanks, Barbara! We enjoyed your lovely property SO much!

Stellar Views...Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Breathtaking views of the Penobscot Bay. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. Barb, the owner, and her adorable dog Dinah, were super friendly. We will definitely be back.

Maine Dream

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cottage - meticulously clean and comfortable - with everything a couple (or small family) could possibly want. The stairs are somewhat steep so be careful. The owner is extremely helpful if needed but otherwise completely non-obtrusive. The weather cooperated this time and we had a fun time exploring the countryside, State parks, etc., then stopping by the local lobster pound for our dinner! We would love to return to this area and when doing so would definitely rent this cottage again. Loved it!!!!

Right out of a movie

  • 5 of 5

I thought this cottage looked too good to be true online, but it is even more adorable and serene in person. The decor is tasteful and comfortable, and we felt like we'd stepped into a movie. It is meticulous and has everything we could need; the kitchen has every device and tool a cook might require.

The view is beyond description, and the sunrise is breathtaking. We couldn't stop laughing the first morning when we found ourselves wide awake at 5:00 a.m. as the intense sunrise woke us. The view of the cove and accessibility is perfect. It's like having a personal beach.

The location is wonderful for getting to Belfast, Camden, Searsport, Islesboro, and Rockport. Exploring the various towns and museums was great fun, as was being able to return to the comfort of this sweet cottage.

The owner, Barbara Plummer, is accommodating and completely non-intrusive. I've rented places before where the owners can get annoying, but Barbara keeps away unless requested for help or information. She also has several brochures in the cottage that offer detailed descriptions of the various sights and dining experiences in the area. This was one of my best vacation rental experiences and I can't wait to go back to this little spot "on the edge of the world" soon.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy little cottage is all you will need. Spotlessly clean and very well appointed, wonderful location with a small bay right below that is all sand at low tide. Gracious hosts that respect renters' privacy, and an informal garden. Lots of villages and scenic drives in the area, and a great dog park about 3 miles away. Comfortable surroundings with a lovely deck for eating or simply watching the tides come and go. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Winter

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three months (Jan/Feb/Mar) at Cove Cottage and it was fabulous. Barb, the owner, was helpful, attentive, and also gave us space and privacy. The home is lovingly kept, with every thing you need right at your fingertips; from books to mixers to linens. The sunrises were gorgeous overlooking Penobscot Bay, and it was great to be able to walk out to the water during low tide. The surrounding areas were lovely, and it was wonderful to drive up and down the coast gazing at the views of the water. We will always cherish the memories we made here, and our cat loved it too. Thanks!

The nearby town of Belfast is a historic place with a lively downtown and many homes of architectural interest. John Villani rated Belfast as the 10th best small art town in his book entitled The 100 Best Small Art Towns(John Muir Publications). There is a large supermarket and farmers market on Fridays. There are good fish markets with lots of lobster, a bakery, several exceptionally good coffee shops offering fine baked goods and sandwiches, and a terrific health food store and co-op. There are several excellent restaurants, an ice cream shop, a wine shop and a candy shop! Also a local movie theater with vintage charm and current movies.

Other shops include women’s clothing, the Green Store selling health and environmental products, a very good kitchen shop and several well-equipped hardware stores. There are three bookstores, one offering a good collection of used books.

Numerous auctions and antique shops in the area.
