The cottage is only minutes away from world famous Magens Bay and Mahogany Run Golf course. It is centrally located between Charlotte Amalie and the Havensight Cruise Ship dock for shopping and sightseeing, and Red Hook on the East End for the ferry to St. John.
This charming French West Indian structure is a stand alone cottage fashioned after the architecture of the homes that are built on the Caribbean Island of St. Barths. Upon opening the gate, you are greeted with the view of the entire peninsula of Peterborg and Magens Bay. The entry to the cottage is flanked on both sides by magnificent boulders and lush vegetation. It is private and seculded, but the small friendly neighborhood also has homes nearby.
The elevation (600 feet above sea level) and the trade wind breezes make air conditioning unnecessary. In addition, there are ceiling fans in every room which provide further comfort.
When entering the cottage, you step into the large, open, living/dining room with screened windows stretching the entire length of the room. Once again, providing panoramic views.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed accommodating two people, with a shuttered interior window facing the magnificent view. The second bedroom has two single beds accommodating two additional people. The bathroom has a walk in shower, a window overlooking the garden, and is spacious and bright. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything needed to cook those special meals. Or maybe you would rather dine alfresco and grill outside on the large, spacious deck. You can watch the twinkling lights appear at dusk on the hillside while preparing any enjoying your meal.

My husband, Ken, and I are now retired. We relocated from Massachusetts almost 25 years ago. Ken is a woodworker and meticulously returned the cottage to its original splendor, while I have been in charge of the furnishings and interior. It has ended up being a winning combination.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
This cottage was built in 1974, and was within sight of our home while we were building. For many years we thought about what a special place it was. When it became available early last year, we decided to purchase it for a vacation rental.. We moved to the lovely Virgin Islands after vacationing for several years in 1984 and realized that this is exactly where we wanted to live and spend all of our time.
The cottage has an old world charm not available in many of the contemporary rental villas. The cottage provides lots of outdoor living which is exactly what you want in the great weather which the Caribbean provides. The evenings are especially beautiful with the lights of the valley twinkling in the distance.
We absolutely loved staying at this wonderful cottage. Waking up in the morning to a symphony of sounds and the beautiful view of Megan's bay was a dream come true. The owners of the cottage provide everything that is needed for an amazing vacation, beach towels, hair dryer, coolers, beach chairs, etc. There was nothing to want for. Joanne and Ken were amazing hosts and it is comforting to know that they are near by if you had any questions or issues. The island is beautiful, you definitely need to rent a car. The beaches are stunning. My hope it to return to this beautiful cottage one day. I highly recommend
We loved returning each day from our island adventures to this quaint island cottage. From the chirp of the coqui in early evening, accompanied by fantastic sunsets, to the early morning symphony of the surroundings, our nights were never boring. Then breakfast on the expansive deck got us ready for another day of island hopping, beach going and of course, shopping!. We recommend this conveniently located vacation home for all.
If you are interested in living in a local neighborhood and adapting to the culture and surroundings this cottage is for you. If you want to be pampered with a pool, dishwasher, AC, big screen tv, and a maid you will need to stay at the Ritz or the Marriott. You will hear weed eaters, power saws, traffic, backup alarms, dogs barking, and roosters crowing. A car will be needed to get around the island and make sure you drive on the left. The cottage is located off of Skyline Drive on Gooseberry Lane. Depending on traffic and cruise ships you can drive to Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie, or French Town in 15 to 20 min. Sibs, Mafolie, Magen's Beach, or Mahogany Run golf course in 5 to 10 min. The cottage is clean and well stocked. Ken has emergency lights and candles for power outages, cooler, beach chairs and towels, binoculars, umbrella, pens and paper, cards, and a well supplied kitchen. The beds are comfortable, screens and shudders in all rooms, glass in kitchen and master. We closed the shutters in the evening and were comfortable. Ceiling fans in all rooms no AC was only uncomfortable a few times in 2 months. Ken is very helpful and responds immediately when needed. He will even haul your garbage for you.
We, husband and 2 young adult children, spent New Year's eve week in this lovely cottage on the hillside overlooking picturesque Magen's Bay. Ken and Joanne were wonderful hosts. They responded promptly when we inquired about renting and during the week when we had questions. Ken met us at the airport and escorted us to the home. The location was perfect for us. And what a treat to have coffee on the deck overlooking the bay. We had a rental car and were able to get to most places on the island within 10-15 minutes. The home was well-stocked with the basics and beach towels.
This little cottage is tucked away on a hillside on the beautiful island of St. Thomas with panoramic views of the beautiful ocean and lush mountainsides. I loved that the owners, Ken and Joanne, were very accommodating, both to me and my old pug! This quaint little get away is perfect for those who want a true local feel while in St. Thomas. Everything one needs is here: well appointed bedrooms, a beautiful open concept den, great kitchen and bathroom, and an incredible patio/terrace with outstanding star gazing at night. All in all, the price, location, and accommodations were awesome!
The "Cottage" turned out to be the caribbean paradise I was dreaming about. The lush, tropical feel one would expect in a rain forest along with the view of Megan's bay was magnificant. What a place to call your own for several weeks. We actually stayed for three weeks and should have booked longer.
The "Cottage" is well stocked with everything you need so don't bring bring anything other than your clothes. They have beach chairs, beach towels, cooler and everything you need including the hair dryer, washing machine and dryer.
The view at daybreak and the setting sun is breathtaking. Distant noices of dogs barking or roosters crowing are noticable in the late afternoon but the noices are from a distance and not close by the cottage. The cottage is surrounded on all sides by lush greenry so you free secluded and at peace. One of the reasons why I chose this site is they allowed my small dog to accompany us. And she (Remi) had a wonderful time on the large expansive deck chasing small lizards although she never caught one. Hull Bay is close by and we found it to be a small friendly local beach where we went snorkling. Remi was also allowed on the beach and could run up and down the sandy shore line without being on a leash. You will need a car to travel around the island since this location in high in the hills and not close to any stores. So, remember you will be driving on the left side of the road which didn't create any problems for us. The terrain is a little steep and it might take you a couple of days to feel comfortable with driving around the sharp curves on the roads. But, we didn't seem to have any problems with this. If you are accustomed to an air conditioned resort room, this might not be your place. The only time we were a little uncomforabel was from 3 to 5 in the afternnon. Other than that, the cottage was wonderful.
