Dual entries provide access to separate dining, living and bedding accommodations to enhance privacy . Re-modeled (HVAC, Plumbing and Flooring) in 2014, both units are exceptionally well furnished. The upstairs unit has a Washer/Dryer. High Speed Wireless internet is available throughout the house. Located @ Gulf Blvd. & Georgia Ruth on the Northern end of the island. 'Gone Gulf'n' is within walking distance of Ted's Restaurant, The Cinema and the Wanna Wanna Inn - recently ranked one of America's top 50 'Seafood Dives' by Travel & Leisure magazine. Daily Maid service is available upon request. Property management is located nearby to ensure prompt attention to any guest request.

About Scott Agan

Corporate executive (GM Nestle) based out of Chicago. I have owned the beach house for more than 10 years and have seen my kids grow up enjoying the beach and the Island flavor. The separate living areas are great for multi-generational family gatherings where folks need to get away from time to time. The layout of the house is ideal as the upstairs becomes the gathering location while the downstairs allows folks to get away as needed. We have enjoyed sharing our home with the various return guests. I'm available at 630-306-7946.

Home has two separate entry points. Main family unit upstairs has two bedrooms, one full bath w/washer & dryer, kitchen and living room. In-Laws quarters has downstairs entry w/2 bedrooms (sleeps 5), one full bath, kitchen and living room. House is designed to maximize privacy. Ideal for family reunions and corporate outings.

Wonderful beach trip

We had a really good stay. We had two families each with two kids so the layout worked great. Simply you have two separate units allowing us be close to each other but also allowing for separation. The proximity and access to the beach was perfect. FYI no dishwasher, upstairs unit has washing machine dryer combo, downstairs bathroom is tub/shower combo and upstairs has shower only.

Good value, Needs upkeep

We stayed on the bottom floor of this condo, friends stayed on upper level. The top floor seems much nicer, but these are my thoughts on our experience downstairs.


1. Location - Literally steps from a great public beach access. Don't have to worry about parking or walking far with all the beach gear.

2. Price - is a great value compared to other rentals in the immediate area. We stay in SPI every year, have stayed in a handful of places and this is a deal.

3. Spacious & comfortable - was not cramped for 3 adults. Nice size bathroom, hot water. Large king bed in one room, queen in the other. Not the most comfortable mattress in the world, but much better than other condos we've rented on the island. Great patio/deck with beach views and breeze.


1. Wasn't cleaned from previous renter by the time we were told to check in. Called the owner and it was taken care of in a reasonable amount of time but it did interrupt our dinner plans as it wasn't ready for us until 6pm.

2. Everything (at least in the lower level) showed lots of use. All the furniture had heavy staining and linens weren't cleaned well. Even had to wash a comforter before we could use it because there was food (or something worse) crusted onto it.

3. The kitchen in this level was not very well equipped compared to other condos. No tongs for the grill, blender missing the blade, etc. We were able to get what we needed from upstairs, but that may not be possible for all renters. If you plan to cook at the condo, it may be difficult.

Overall we had a good experience, just wish more care had been taken with upkeep in the condo. It's a great value for someone on a tight budget.

Owner's Response: Brittni, thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review. Today, I mailed a check for the inconvenience that you experienced due to the delayed check in. We had a snafu as our Manager on the Island left to travel out of Country and the housekeeper didn't receive the proper cleaning instructions. Post your stay, all the downstairs couches & chairs have been newly upholstered. It is not uncommon for the dishes/cookware to gravitate toward the upstairs as we typically rent the house in its entirety and the majority of the guests will congregate upstairs. Before we left this weekend we purchased new cookware and it is available for future guest use. Based on your feedback we have changed out all of the bedspreads. We are glad that you enjoyed the location and the value. I would agree that the house is a great value for its location, size and accommodations. We will continue to invest in the house to insure past, present and future guest expectations are met.

Fantastic Rental!!!

LOVED...LOVED...LOVED our stay at 'Gone Gulf'n'!!! Right across from a nice public access, our views were fantastic!! We rented the upstairs only, and couldn't have been happier...very bright and roomy. We stayed for two months, and the weather was up and down, but way better than the blizzards we left back in Michigan!! We enjoyed daily walks on the beach with our dog, as well as the local restaurants and the movie theatre. Staying as long as we did, we did eat at home a lot. The kitchen was stocked well with everything we needed for preparing meals. It was a great vacation rental for us, and we have already booked again for 2016😎 Thank you Scot and Jeannie!!

Great location across from the beach.

The location was super. You could go walking on the beach most anytime and feel safe. We enjoyed sitting on the deck for meals, to watch the surf and the people. The rental was very clean, neat and the floor plan was easy to live with. The kitchen was equipped with a new frig. with icemaker. The house was comfortable and well supplied in the kitchen area. The surrounding area has lots of good restaurants, grocery store nearby and alot of fun attractions to visit. We would recommend this rental to family and friends. It has 2 large bedrooms both with a king size bed. It was quite helpful to have a washer and dryer in the house. The owner was very easy to work with and returned your telephone calls promptly. There is also a property manager who is near and kept in contact as to any needs that we may have pertaining to the rental. This was our first experience renting from Home Away From Home and I will definitely use them again. Great fun and will rent again when availabe.

Far surpassed our expectations

Our first time renting a beach house couldn't have been easier. The owners Scott & Jeannie made this a hassle free experience. Manager Wayne was a joy to deal with and was readily accessible. At first I was a little nervous given that the rate for the house was considerably less than other listed homes. No need to worry. From the outside, the house is older than others in the neighborhood but the inside is freshly decordated and updated nicely. The house couldn't be more ideally situated. Directly across the street from the public beach access (paved with shower). The neighborhood is mostly residential so the traffic is much less than the areas closer to the causeway. Access to the beach and proximity to the Island Inn are both key benefits in my book. Ted's is a must visit - try the breakfast tacos. Best meal in Padre. Have to love the wrap around deck. I could sit on that deck and watch the waves roll in for hours. I miss it already. Would be better if it had a dishwasher but for the price I'm not complaining. We had guests in town so it was nice to have the upstairs/downstairs option for additional privacy. I'm back home in the cold now but looking forward to our return trip. Thanks Scott & Jeannie for the memories.

Broken Arrow, OK

Great price. Nice house. Great location.

Literally steps away from the beach (even if the beach access across the street was an overgrown path through the dunes and not a concrete path like many of the other access points) and bike lane. This was really nice since we could go to the beach when ever we liked, not feeling we had to go as a group (like if you had to drive to the beach). So we would go to the beach in small groups...OFTEN!!!

We had 10 total in the house (7 adults and three kids - 2, 5, 7) and it was more than enough room. The upstairs was more updated than the downstairs, but it was still worth the price. The AC worked great, kept us cool during the night. We cooked in most nights and the cookware was adequate (plus a new gas grill). The bed we had slept well (but we were tired every night from the day's activities). The shower outside was basic, but it did the job...sand free!

I have no comments about the rental manager since we had no problems.

The door to the bottom section was at the back of the house. This was a pain loading and unloading, but this turned out nice since we could store our bikes and beach stuff there without feeling our stuff was going to be taken.

The only downside was it didn't have a swimming pool. It would've been nice to have one at night. So that would be only reason we wouldn't stay here again.

Located @ 5213 Gulf Blvd. on the corner of Gulf Blvd and Georgia Ruth. The property is directly across the street from Public Beach access. The waters edge is a mere 50 yards from the property line. 'Gone Gulf'n' is approximately 100 yards away from the renowned Wanna Wanna Inn a long time favorite for Seafood and Live Music. Ted's restaurant a longtime breakfast favorite is within walking distance. Convention Center is approximately 1 mi. to the North and the Causeway is 3 miles to the South.

Golf: Golf is available at the South Padre Island Golf Club. Reservations are recommended.
