A message from the owners - Having lived on Mount Desert Island most of our lives, we can say that it is sometimes easy to take for granted all that we have here. But when we begin to describe all that the Island has to offer a visitor we remember just how lucky we are to live here. The mountains, the sea, the woods, lakes, and the people make this one of the most unique and enjoyable places we have ever known. We hope you will take full advantage of what Mount Desert Island has to offer your visit.

Great House with a Great Setting
This house is beautiful and well maintained! I also enjoyed the seclusion.
We loved our stay at the Glenwood Pond cottage
The cottage itself was located in a very quiet and private area in close proximity to Bar Harbor (especially now that the road is open both ways) and ANP. There's no air conditioning but the cottage has lots of windows and there always seemed to be a nice breeze blowing.
Each bedroom and the kitchen/dining area has its own pedestal fan. It was delightful sleeping with the windows open, hearing the frogs chirping. There are three bedrooms with the softest sheets and two full bathrooms upstairs and the other full bathroom is downstairs. All of the bathrooms were very spacious. During our stay, the sun rose around 4:45 each morning and the bedrooms got bright quickly so if you like to sleep in the dark, take a sleep mask.
The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking in several nights. There are two barstools at the peninsula and a table that seats 6 so there was ample room for our group. There was a larger tv in the dining area and a smaller one in the sofa room.
The mosquitos were horrendous during our stay, but we found that to be the case on most of Mount Desert Island so take bug spray and lots of it! We didn't have any issues with black flies. We saw a doe and her fawn several times on the property. They were adorable to watch in the peaceful setting!
The cottage comes equipped with some essentials like toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, trash bags, bed linens and kitchen and bath towels. You'll need to supply your own food/drinks, body soaps, shampoos, and laundry detergent. We appreciated having a full-sized washer and dryer in the unit and utilized those several times.
There is a binder of cottage and MDI information for those who have never visited the area before. We found this to be extremely helpful when planning out each day. Amber was quick to reply when I emailed her to ask a question and communication before our trip was outstanding.
I'd say the only problem we had was getting a hot shower when all three showers were being used at the same time. If you can stagger your shower times, it won't be an issue.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glenwood Pond cottage and highly recommend it should you visit MDI. Thank you to the owners for providing such a great place to stay when visiting Bar Harbor, Maine! We would definitely rent from them again!
The property was excellent for every aspects. Nice location for Acadia N.P and Bar Harbor. It was so clean and modern.
Everybody in our group were so happy about the property.
Fantastic House for Acadia visit
We rented this house for our trip to Acadia (a family reunion with our adult kid's w/significant others). Everyone loved the space. It is big enough to give everyone some private space and yet offers great gather spaces for family time. Exceeded our expectations.
A Heavenly Vacation
It was a perfect vacation home. Every detail of the home is meticulously cared for. Quiet, lots of space, and convenience. You will be very close to the picturesque town of Bar Harbor and its charming people and stores. Thanks for such a lovely time in Maine!
Peaceful, clean, and convenient!
Overall a great experience, we wish we could have stayed longer and hope to come back!
The listing and photographs accurately represent the house. As noted by other reviews, it was very clean and well appointed. The house is tucked into the woods off a quiet road, and very convenient to beautiful spots all over Mt. Desert Island. We saw goslings at the nearby pond, heard owls each night, and saw a porcupine. Highly recommend the nearby short hike out to Indian Point Blagden preserve -- great tide pools and nursing baby seals--our kids loved it!
