North Lodge is a beautiful country style property in the CENTRE of Brighton city (BN1), set on 1/2 acre of private grounds this secluded property has 2 double bedrooms with sumptuous furnishings and a twin room as well as a double sofa bed should you need more. The bathroom has a beautiful original Victorian roll top bath to soak away the day with traverteine floors. As you go down the original wrought iron spiral staircase to the ground floor, you have wooden floors in the kitchen with an aga cooker and granite work surfaces, the dining room has beams and a slate floor with a large country dining table for entertaining with French doors opening out into the garden. The lounge has a wood burner fireplace and full cable to while away your evenings. Good transport links allow you to explore the local area. Cosy and welcoming!

Lovely base to explore Brighton! Approximately 25 min walk into centre. Conveniently located near a 24hr Tesco petrol station and by a great fish and chip shop! The owner is extremely helpful. All in all, a great little find!

Where else would you find a detached house for a family with generous parking, unique & comfortable surroundings, with outside space? Right here. It's a beautiful house, lovingly & thoughfully maintained, with a homey feel. Just off Dyke Road, so easy bus I to town, or a 20 min. walk. Tesco Express at the corner for essentials, or just croissants to warm in the lovely AGA cooker. True an extra loo and a shower would be handy (and more economical for the owner) but the handsome Victorian roll-top bath was a gorgeous indulgence.

House is full of character, nicely set back from the main road. Was great fun cooking on an aga for the first time and a nice feature having a constantly hot oven in the beautiful kitchen in the winter. Looking forward to returning in the summer to enjoy the garden too

What a great house!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautifully decorated to suit the age of the property.lots of wood..floorboards, doors,chests.. mirrors etc. Kitchen is warm and homely as there is an aga..and it is well equipped....lovely large dining area. The lounge has 2 comfortable sofas and a wood burning fire.the weather sadly didn't allow us to use the lovely private garden area.

The bedrooms were beautiful and comfy ..although the small twin room has no radiator. Bathroom is good although there is no separate shower and the roll top bath is quite high so not easy for older people, as is the wrought iron spiral staircase.

The host was friendly and welcoming and on call for any advice about what to see and where to eat.i would happily stay there again.

About The Owner

I have been living abroad doing various things, working, sailing and generally enjoying life, I just couldn't bear to let my home go, I have always been very social so I just wanted others to enjoy the house as I have over the years, with so many positive reviews, we must be doing something right! Hopefully you will think so too. :-)

Ian Fardell purchased this cottage in 2000

Why The Owner chose Hove

It Just has a really nice feel about it whether that be entertaining or just chilling out in the secluded back garden, it is a true gem. I loved this house from the moment I saw it and the love affair continues. To add to that it is central Brighton so nothing is far away and if you just fancy popping round the corner (30 Secs on a bad day) you have a great local pub! If I wasn't living in Singapore then I wouldn't live anywhere else. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years. P.s there is an additional charge for any 2 night stays which will be given on request. Thanks

What makes this cottage unique

Location, the local area, local pub, transport, Brighton, the Downs national park (15mins by car), and the fact you can crank the stereo up and you would be hard pushed to upset the neighbours (trust me I've tried!) or chill out as if you were in a country garden or both!
