About Tim Rombach

Enjoy fishing (especially flyfishing), hunting (grouse, turkey and deer), canoeing and camping.

Tim Rombach purchased this chalet in 2001

Why Tim Rombach chose Northern Michigan

Moved to a more school bus-friendly and convenient family living house in 2006. I was unable to sell the house during the housing market collapse and began vacation renting to make ends meet.

What makes this chalet unique

There's not a lot of draw to this place. No river, not hot tub. I don't make any profit renting it (I almost break even every year), but I'll tell you this: It's very clean, very cool in the summer, and VERY quiet there. It's a house not a cabin and the people that rent it return annually at a reduced rate. They leave it like they found it, and they get it for $75/nt or $400/wk. Easy for me, inexpensive for the renters. It's a win-win and my return renters are friends after the first time.

Quiet secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Chalet. It was very clean and well stocked with anything you may need. Just far enough away from town and all the traffic. Duncan our dog really enjoyed the walks in the woods. Tim was so kind and available if we needed him. The layout of the cabin was great. I would recommend this property to my family and friends. Hopefully we will be back soon.

Great place to fish Holy Waters

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is super close to Holy Waters of the Au Sable if you are interested in fly fishing. Burton's landing is about 5 minutes away, and several other entrance points on the Au Sable are just as close- Including Louie's Landing, Keystone & Stephan Bridge, all perfect for wading. The cabin is very clean and well taken care of inside. The photos don't do it justice. It is bigger inside than it looks, with tall ceilings and a great loft area. The full kitchen is nice- there's a crockpot too. Laundry is very convenient so you really don't need to pack much. Very quiet and secluded.

Private, safe, comfortable and pet friendly

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at this cabin several times now and it's one of our favourites. It's extremely private with no neighbours in view, yet only a few minutes from town. It's just a few minutes drive to the Ausable river for fly fishing, as well as Gates Lodge which has fly fishing supplies and a first class restaurant. There are lots of back roads for an easy walk through the woods. The cabin has a dishwasher, tv and a washer and dryer which is very handy. The owner is very accomodating and easy to work with.

Great value!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the Cottage. It was a great jumping off point for canoeing the AuSable and Manistee Rivers. We did a lot of exploring in the area too. Just a minute or two from Wakely Lake. We hope to stay again soon! Having a washer/dryer/dishwasher was excellent. Very secluded and quiet. Clean well maintained cottage.

Grayling Cottage

  • 4 of 5

For the money this was an excellent place to stay. It was more spacious that I though it would be. It is quite secluded and the few neighbors that are nearby were quiet. We happened to pick the hottest week of the summer to stay there but even without air we managed. Having all of the amenities made our stay even easier. Inside the house is very clean.

we love the chalet! if we built one it would be exactly the same. Also location was perfect at the end of the road. The washer and dryer where really nice, as we went 4 wheeling and got really dirty. We grilled out every night, and had everything we needed to cook and also had a dish washer to wash the dishes. there was a garage to store the 4 wheelers in. Gas fireplace was perfect. We loved the loft view into the living room. The cabin was very clean. This is just the perfect place to vacation.
