Our cozy vintage loft apartment (Suite D) sits just off the courthouse square in downtown Spencer. Suite D is in the loft of the 15,000 square foot Hitchcock’s Building! Our building was constructed in 1945 for my dad’s Uncle Morris. He and his wife lived in this apartment and operated a grocery store on the bottom floor and sold dry goods in the loft right outside the apartment. Our dad, uncle, and family friend purchased the building in 1968 and continued to operate the grocery store for decades. The loft portion of the building is an events venue and Suite D is the brides suite when we have weddings in the loft! The down stairs is now home to Shops at 93. The shops have 20+ vendors with an array of goods to sale!!! We are located in Van Buren County, which is home to Fall Creek Falls State Park, includes part of the Trail of Tears, and has lots of history! We are 16 miles from Fall Creek Falls, approximately 20 miles from Rock Island State Park, Cumberland Caverns, and Foglight Foodhouse! Now for info on Suite D! I am a five room suite with original hardwood floors that show the character of my almost 75 year age in a good way! My decor is vintage to match my age! I have one bedroom with a comfy queen bed, one bath with stand up shower, kitchen area with mini fridge, keurig, and microwave. I come stocked with k-cups of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamer, sugar, honey, breakfast muffins, yogurt, juicy, water, soft drinks, and mixers. I am a great place to relax after a day of hiking, kayaking, or horseback riding. Also a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy a good book, board game, or your significant other! Downstairs our Patio 93 has cafe lights with tables and chairs to enjoy the sun setting over the courthouse!

About Melodie Hodges
Our family has owned this building since 1968. It was a grocery store, gift shop, laundromat, restaurant, and hardware store for decades. It was vacant for several years and the family has spent the last year bringing life back to the building. We were all born and raised in Van Buren County and have never left cause we love our little town and the beauty that surrounds us. Dad (Don) and Melodie have served as county commissioners, Mother (Shirley) is president of the Van Buren-Spencer Chamber of Commerce, Sister (Becky) is Director of Transportation for Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, and brother (Ron) operates the General Store, Outfitters, and Snack Bar inside Fall Creek Falls State Park. Our roots run deep in our community!
