It's time to go down to the sea again. This is the best of the Jersey Shore and we would love to have you experience it at Merivale.

We hope to hear from you and see you in 2016 which is another banner year at the Jersey Shore and on the island.
Mary and Daryl Todd have owned the Merivale property since 1985 when their 4 children were youngsters. They grew up on the beaches of Beach Haven and bought the property so their children could experience the same joy and rebirth they did as children. Now that they are grandparents of 13, they love to see their grandchildren picking up the torch for the Island and Beach Haven. There is a special joy that comes with knowing their grandchildren will get out of the car and immediately walk the few steps to the beach and just breath it in. It is the finest gift they can pass on. It is the knowing that they will always be able to return to the shore for healing, growth and revitatlization. Generations of Beach Haven summers go into the beach owners home at Merivale. The house has seen many a storm and stood strong dating back to the 1950's. The owners have a deep respect for the ocean and the beach. Most of all they want to share their love of the sound of the gulls and the surf. They want you to remember the sunrises and take them with you through the winter. The ocean, the beach and their beach house is something they want you to experience and enjoy. In the words of one of the matriarch's of the family. 'What could be nicer.'
Bonnie Todd Marino purchased this condo in 1984
If you want to be on the beach, close to the ocean and away from the crowd this place is for you. Once you experience ocean front living you know what it means and why it is so special. Merivale Ave. is a lovely street in the southern part of Beach Haven. 220 Merivale is the end of the street, closest home to the beach and the ocean. Most of the owners have been on the street for decades and have become good friends. The owners grew up or summered on the Island and although they have traveled to other places, recognize and love its village atmosphere and consider it a most cherished and special place.
The summer of 2016 has brought beach replenishment to the island. Large dunes have been placed by a Federal Project over the entire island. The purpose is to spare the island from the ravages of storms like Sandy and fall and spring North East wind storms. Entrances to the beaches are under construction and should be finished by high season. First floors all over the island have lost views and second floors are now enjoying water views and morning sunrises. Our first floor has a designated beach area between the dune and the house. This is particularly nice for families that want to enjoy the salt air, the sound of the ocean and a secure beach area.
There is a small private area in front of the decks. It allows for private beach parties and a secure area for little children to build their castles, play ball or just lie in the sun. A covered porch overlooks it for adults to read, work or use their tablets and know their kids are in sight. It is so easy to rise with the sun and go on a beach treasure walk or an early morning swim. It is so nice to have a dinner on the deck overlooking the ocean and listening to the surf. You can enjoy a beach party in front of the porch as the sun goes down. The second floor has a retractable awning to allow you to control the amount of sun you want to enjoy. The fishermen are a stones throw from the best fishing beaches. The surfers enjoy great waves in the blocks surrounding Merivale.
This is my second year in a row at this beach house and I will keep coming back. This year was a bit of an adventure as we were dealing with a Nor'easter and the potential for Hurricane Joaquin to hit the east coast. The sea state became very rough and the surge basically ate the beach and washed away the fencing at the dunes edge. The owner's came by and suggested that perhaps we cut our stay short by one day for fear of the ocean breaching the dunes and flooding the first floor of the house. We were grateful for their concern, as we were leaving the island quite a bit of local flooding was taking place on the main roads and they actually had to cancel Chowder Fest for this year. That all said, I love a good storm (as long as it does no damage to property), and we were lucky to have experienced just about every weather pattern possible that week to include a lunar eclipse that we watched from the deck. The house is in the perfect location for fun and relaxation and I just look so forward to coming each year. September is a wonderful month to experience LBI, albeit in the middle of Hurricane season, but the relaxation I experience regardless of the weather is something that money cannot buy. See you again next September.....
This is my family's second time staying at this property, the first being for an extended weekend, the second for a week, since we loved the property so much. The home is right on the beach, which is amazing. No matter which room you go, the view is spectacular and the sound is even more tranquil. My husband and I have pretty stressfull occupations and relished the peacefullness of Beach Haven. However, it is close enough to all the action, restaurants and Fantasy Island for our one year old. Bonnie the owner is great and makes your stay very accomadating and is a pleasure to do buisness with.
Can't wait to go back!
This home is truly a piece of paradise, from the minute you walk in and see the sweeping ocean views to the pristine cleanliness of the home. My husband and I work in high stress jobs and love retreating to this home for some much needed relaxation. The kitchen was recently updated providing an open concept which is great for us as we have a toddler. The balcony was wonderful as it provides panoramic views of the ocean and if you are lucky you will see the occasional dolphin swimming by.
Bonnie is so accommodating and is pleasure to do business with. Make this your next rental choice and you will not be disappointed!
We really enjoyed our stay in the top floor unit overlooking the beach in a quiet neighborhood. The unit was clean and clutter free. The open floor plan was lovely with views to the south as far as the eye could see. We didn't need to go to the beach, as the deck was a wonderful substitute. Bedrooms on the small side with limited closet space. Otherwise, the unit had it all.
Great place to stay. This was our 3rd time. House is kept really well and the house owners are really nice and easy to work with. Great house and a great location.
This was my first time to Long Beach Island & my husband's first return after spending childhood summers here in the 60s and 70s. I saw why he so fondly remembers Beach Haven! Not much has changed, it is still A quiet village atmosphere & very family oriented. The location of this home is ideal. On the beach, a few sandy footsteps away from the beach access, no flip flops necessary! Nothing but blue sky, water and sand views out the windows. Clean and bright inside, just as depicted by the friendly and helpful manager/owners. Far enough out of town to be extra quiet, close enough for convenience - 3 minutes by car, 10 minutes by bicycle. Beaches are extra clean, not too crowded, water was beautiful 65 degrees and kids boogie boarded under the watchful eyes of the lifeguards for hours. I have never seen lifeguards who really supervised their area more like a pool than a beach. It was great to have that extra safety! We rented a surfboard and beach cruisers from the "Boardwalk" down the block and shared some of our favorite things about the beach with our kids....unforgettable!
Long Beach Island LBI is a family friendly vacation destination, rated in the top 5 of a National Travel Magazine's Best Beaches in the United States. LBI is six miles from the mainland accessible by one bridge in the center of the island.

Enjoy yourself in this beachy Beach Haven oceanfront duplex on one of the less crowded beaches on the island and enjoy all the amenities you would expect in a well equipped beach house. This bright and comfortable three bedroom 1.5 bath, duplex is decorated and furnished for beachfront enjoyment with lots of Island accessories. Each floor has a slightly different feel. The second floor has a retractable awning to control the amount of sun in the living room. The warmer parts of the day can be shaded with the stars in view over the deck in the evening. There is a comfortable sectional. A bank of windows on two sides enhance the ocean views. There is a large wall-mounted flat screen cable TV and secure wireless internet.
Both the first floor and second floor are updated. The exterior has a New England gray cedar siding. The kitchens have state of the art appliances and a coastal living appearance.
The pictures tell the story.
There are museums, guided walking tours of the old Victorian section, concerts in the park, live plays at the Surflight Theatre, a Water Slide and amusement park and many fine restaurants and casual eating establishments featuring a broad range of cuisine, all within easy car or bike-riding distance! Rent a kayak, jet-ski or sailboat! A short drive off the island features stock-car racing at New Egypt, several golf courses, a rifle range and go-cart amusements! Ship Bottom offers a spa. St. Francis Center offers a wide variety of aquatic, sports camps, physical exercise and interesting courses. One mile and a half to the south is the federal wildlife refuge. The Maritime Museum on Second St and Dock Rd. has a wide range of programs for young and adults during the summer season. All day fishing and musical entertainment sunet cruises are available on the bay. For those with a sense of history the Beach Haven Museum is well worth a look in the Beach Haven Public Library on Third Street and the Long Beach Island Museum on Engleside Avenue. On the north end of the island Barnegat Light State Park is open and the trek to the top of the lighthouse is worth the view in all directions. Beach Haven has had a history as a vacation destination long before bridges or railroads when it could be accessed only by boat.
Many families have passed on traditions from generation to generation. We encourage you to do the same and come along. Maybe 2016 will be your year to see a whale or make a memory with your family that brings you back again and again.
