Fully equipped, luxury, family log home. In the middle of the Garden Route, with every pastime the playground of South Africa has to offer. The house is sited on the top of a dune, perfectly secluded and quiet. It overlooks a lake with stunning mountain views. Perfect for winter or summer. There is a cosy log burning fire inside and a fully equipped kitchen. There is now WiFi available.
The House is Wi-Fi enabled.
Stayed a week with friends, stunning views in a quiet and very peaceful location. Thank you to Simon and Trish for all of the useful information. an ideal location for any avid golfers along with some excellent restaurants
The property is a large log home with beautiful views from every aspect. It is open plan and the double height in the main living area lend the property to being spacious, open and light. The entirety of the property is made from wood which is calming and feels very natural. The views are incredible. It's only 5 minutes away from Wilderness and Sedgefield where you will find all amenities but you have total seclusion and privacy. The house is well equipped including DSTV player but no DSTV (bring your own card), but there is a DVD player. The hot tub is great and sufficiently hot. There is a large balcony with sunloungers and cushions perfect for sun bathing. The decking area is quite safe for kids (we have a 3 year old) although there are 2 corners where the balustrade is quite low (so just be cautious). The bedrooms and bathrooms are fine although a little dated. It must be noted that the master suite is on the living area level and upstairs there is a double room and a twin room. All ensuite. The 4th double room is on the ground floor next to the garage. The house does get hot as there is no aircon. However I would completely recommend it and it is the perfect hideaway for those looking to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The house is large and inviting and extremely well equipped. The views are spectacular and the nearby beaches and restaurants are world class.
My family and I had a wonderful holiday and we cannot thank Simon enough for going the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We have stayed at a number of holiday villas over the years and I can honestly say that the hospitality we received was beyond compare.
My sister and I, with our family, spent 10 days, over and including Christmas Day, in this fantastic log home. It was one of the best Christmases we've had! There is so much to do in the area for all the family. The boys played golf most mornings which they thoroughly enjoyed because the courses (a different one each time) were brilliant.
We took the children to a nearby elephant conservation park - we were so excited because we were allowed to pet the baby elephants! One day trip we drove into the Little Karroo where there is another conservation park for wild animals of all sorts, it was fascinating and we learnt a lot.
The house was very clean and tidy. We couldn't get the hot tub to work properly but other than that the facilities were perfect. We contacted the owner about the hot tub but as it was Christmas nothing could be done, they were very apologetic. However, we spent most of the time at the various wonderful beaches nearby anyway.
There are loads of really good restaurants. The food is always fresh, well cooked, well presented and loads of it!
I would certainly recommend this holiday to anyone, except perhaps families with very small children - there are lots of stairs!
What is your passion? Walking, golf, sailing, shopping, wine tasting, dining out, fishing, bird-watching, steam trains... you can do it all, all you will need is time! George, the area capital, has vast, modern shopping malls, beautiful fresh local produce to take home to cook, cinemas etc. Just out of the town are the world famous golf courses, including Fancourt. Knysna, the oyster capital of the region, offers a charming waterfront, olde worlde shopping and memorable dining experiences. It is the little Cape Town of the Garden Route. From here you can sail, fish or people watch on the seafront. If you have children, there are numerous Wildlife Animal Parks nearby, where you can experience close encounters, touching and feeding ostriches, elephants, even crocs, lion and cheetah cubs. There is really so much to do on the Garden Route, and not enough space here to describe them all. Instead suggest you search garden route in a search engine.
Other Activities: Scenic Flights, Bird Watching, Seasonal Whale Watching
Golf: The Garden Route, one of South Africa’s top attractions is a scenic coastal region along its southernmost coast. Renowned for its beaches, indigenous forests, nature reserves, lakes, mountain ranges, adventure opportunities, hiking trails, and world class golfing. It runs from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape all the way to Storms River in the Eastern Cape. Bakatad is situated fairly well right in the middle. This unique stretch of South Africa coastline benefits from a mild climate all year long, making it a golfer's paradise. It enjoys a Mediterranean Maritime climate, with moderately hot summers, and mild to chilly winters. It is one of the richest rainfall areas in South Africa. Most of the rains occurs in the winter months, brought on by the humid sea-winds from the Indian ocean. The Garden Route's temperate weather falls between two climatic regions of summer and winter rainfall so it rains mostly at night which keeps the area perennially green.
Fancourt Country Club Estate ,in George, is ranked in the Top 10 of all South Africa's Golf Courses. The Pinnacle Point Golf Course, perched on the cliff tops above Mossel Bay, was selected as one of the World's Top 10 Best New Courses for 2006. But with so many courses, 12 in the immediate area, all within easy driving distance of the house, you are spoiled for choice.
