My boyfriend and I just stayed in this cottage for a long weekend away from it all. The cottage is beautiful-- you can tell that a lot of time and caring was put into the beautiful craftsmanship throughout. Pamela and Kevin were very welcoming when we arrived and let us come and go as we pleased. The location is very rural and we were glad we had our Explorer -- 4 wheel drive is needed. On the way to the cottage you drive through 3 covered bridges-- we thought this was pretty cool. This cottage is a short drive to the attractions in Montpelier, Waterbury, Stowe, Mad River Glen and Sugarbush. We would love to come back in the summer or fall to go hiking and biking. This cottage was well worth our money and the drive!
We had a wonderful time at this guest cottage. The cottage was cozy, but had everything we needed. Pamela and Kevin were warm and welcoming, but also gave us our space. We spent a leisurely afternoon laying on the grass on the lawn - reading, napping, and chasing the shade. We went into Montpelier for some delicious meals and even found a nearby winery. Altogether, the vacation was perfect and we hope to make it back up there again.
Traveled from MN for a college visit with my daughter - unexpected flight delay got us to the cottage at 1am. Gracious owners Mela and Kevin made sure all was in order for a couple weary travelers. Cottage is well made and well kept. Rustic enough to make you feel connected with the fantastic surrounding wooded slopes and yet well accessorized with cooking accommodations, comfortable sleeping quarters, modern bath/shower and wifi if need a quick connection to the outside world. General store with friendly staff just down the road has all you need for food, drink and snacks plus a fine eat-in deli. Highly recommend for quiet, relaxing getaway or use as base camp for day trips to the many sites of Vermont.
My boyfriend and I were here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The house was easy to get to and very cozy inside. Everything you would need was there and the house was a 45 minute drive to Stowe Mountain, 35 minute drive to Sugarbush and about 15 minutes to Montpelier.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a classic Vermont trip.
My husband and I recently sprayed here for five nights. It is better in person than the pictures can show. The cabin is cute, comfortable and has a nice small kitchen. We enjoyed sitting on the private front porch with a wonderful view. The property the cabin sits on is gorgeous and the owners were very willing to have us walk around and explore the property. The owners were very friendly and can share lots of information about the area. Nice location to explore Vermont. And a big plus is the fantastic Falls General Store two miles down the road. They have wonderful food!
We stayed for a week in this beautiful cottage. We were in the area for a 5 day event at Norwich University. The cottage is about 10 minutes from the University so it was easy to get back and forth.
We had our 13 year old son and his friend with us. The loft easily accommodated both of them. One slept on the futon mattress provided and we also had a twin air mattress with us.
The owners, Mela and Kevin, were delightful. Very friendly and provided suggestions for places to see, activities, etc. in the surrounding area. There were many activities on the property to keep the boys entertained such as swimming in the pond, bucket golf and croquet. Mela and Kevin seem to be very invested in making sure their guests have a good time and have what they need.
The location is quiet and serene. The perfect area for taking long walks and enjoying nature. Yet, it is within a short drive of many diverse activities such as sailing on Lake Champlain, swimming at Warren Falls, shopping at King Arthur Flour Company, watching glass blowing and pottery making at Simon Pearce, the Cabot Creamery cheese factory tour and visiting Dog Mountain (Stephen Huneck's Gallery and Dog Chapel) in St Johnsbury. We found all of these to be an easy drive away, most less than one hour.
It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature or see the wonderful things Vermont has to offer. Or do a little of both. I highly recommend a stay at this beautiful cottage and we hope to come back again in the future. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
(Regarding the driveway, we didn't think anything of it. I was expecting much worse based on a couple of the comments about needed 4 wheel drive. It is fine.)
Other Activities: snow shoeing; nordic skiing; hiking
