Overview

Massanutten House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Stylish and hip, The Nut House is located in the heart of Massanutten Resort, yet surrounded by trees and mountains offering privacy and serenity.

Offering a main level great room with floor to ceiling windows, gourmet kitchen, dining area, TV nook, and deck overlooking woods with babbling creek. The three bedrooms (linens and bath towels incl) offer the following configuration: main-level, king-bedded master (1 K) and two upstairs bedrooms (1Q and 2T).

The upper deck has seating for 6 and a Weber grill (propane provided). The lower deck features a huge outdoor hot tub. With views of the slopes, it's a perfect way to end a day of skiing and tubing!

Our home is very warm and inviting, with comfortable furnishings offering a classic retro mid-century modern decor. We have had a great time traveling to estate sales for authentic and whimsical pieces that continue to delight our guests. But we have not forgotten modern conveniences...wireless internet, cable flat screen TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, air conditioning, DVD player, iHome, etc.

The kitchen boasts anything a chef could need - offering both Keurig and drip coffee makers, toaster oven, blender, ice maker, microwave, and Henckel knives. And we make it easy: house includes all the “under the kitchen sink” necessities so you do not have to pack all the boring stuff. So we keep stocked for our guests: dish soap, scrubbies/sponges, brillo pads, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, paper towels, napkins, trash bags, cleaning spray, coffee filters, tin foil, saran wrap, ziplocs, spices, cooking spray, salt/pepper, toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, and laundry detergent.

We provide linens/pillows for all beds. When you arrive you will find they are all made up for you, ready to go, unlike many rental homes in the resort. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and serve meals -- just bring your food.

We have purchased the Pool Guest Pass for the homeowners' outdoor pool. Not all homes offer this, so be sure to ask if this is an amenity you plan to use. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

One final benefit of renting from us is our 10-page "House Info Sheet." It details everything about the house, resort, restaurants, shopping, wineries, emergency information, and even where to buy the cheapest gas! Whether you have been to Massanutten or not, you will find all sorts of insider information on how to get the most out of your vacation!

Ideally located in the resort, inside the guard gates less than 5 minutes from on-site resort amenities: zipline, indoor/outdoor waterpark (biggest on the East Coast!), terrific hiking, golf courses, driving range, horseback riding, mini golf, Euro bungee house, racecars, bumper cards, playgrounds, outdoor pool, summer concerts, skateboard park, skiing, year-round tubing hill, ice skating, and more!

We have over 100 positive traveler reviews! Please read them - folks love the attention to detail and excellent customer service we provide our guests. We have set this up to be our vacation home as well as a vacation rental. We do not rely on a management company with lots of homes, instead choosing to manage it ourselves and visiting monthly (lucky us - JMU alumni with 2 kids currently enrolled!) to make sure things remain fresh and in top-notch condition. We strive to make this the best vacation house you have ever stayed in! Come enjoy our little slice of paradise at The Nut!!

About Jo Pumphrey

My husband and I met at JMU, and fell in love with the Valley. We built our home in 2005 and have had a blast decorating it as our second home. We really enjoy sharing it with fellow travelers and helping to make family memories. Now our son and daughter are both at JMU, so we are here monthly, continuing to make this home the grooviest pad on the mtn!

Wonderful week at The Treehouse

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week staying at the Tree House!!! The house was very comfortable for a house full of adults and so very well stocked. Jo was fantastic to work with and we had the best time hanging out with family and enjoying things on the Massanutten property. The owners make it very easy to go on vacation by providing so many of the things that take up so much room - paper towels, linens, toilet paper, etc. The round table was a hit for playing games. We had fun grass tubing, golfing, and tubing down the Shenandoah River!! Hope we get to enjoy the Tree House again!!!

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property. It is comfortable, beautiful, and unique. Impeccably maintained, and very guest-friendly, from the high-end linens to the well-stocked kitchen, clear wifi instructions, and binder full of information. We would stay in this home again--or in any other property owned by this family--in a heartbeat!

Get Away with Ease

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late at night, and everything was all set for us. We got in with ease. Beds were made. Towels were hung. The hot tub was even warm. Everything was at our fingertips. The kitchen is fully equipped, and even labeled so that you can easily return everything to its place. The house is designed with modern chic and intention. Even the colors match the natural beauty of the area. We could all, there were 6 of us- 3 couples, sit together in the living room, or divide amongst ourselves on the porch, the hot tub, by the tv, in our bedrooms.. The furniture is comfy for lounging and there are tons of games to entertain you late into the night. When we woke up the first morning, the beauty of our surroundings came to life. The huge windows make it feel like you are outside, amongst the trees. The nearby mountains are gorgeous, too. I definitely recommend taking a hike!

The Nut House

  • 5 of 5

Great home-due to the rainy weather, my family and I stayed inside more than usual, so we were really able to actually enjoy the home more than on previous trips we've taken. The Nut House was very clean and has a comfortable layout with numerous windows. Great for watching the deer roaming around outside. The owner was great to work with and provided a wealth of information from first entry into resort area to restaurant recommendations.

Family Nut house stay

  • 5 of 5

The nut house and Massanutten were a good find for our family (just 2 hours away from DC). We found a great house, located in a beautiful natural setting, with more amenities than we had time to use in a week. Also, our 5 year old daughter had fun at the water park, exploring nature, riding poneys, etc. and declared that this was a great week of her vacation. Thank you Jo for your hospitality!!!!

Wonderful House

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to the Nut House. It was a beautiful place that was clean and well maintained. Especially loved the furniture. While we were there we enjoyed playing family games and hot tubbing. It was close to all the resort activities. It was so nice that we didn't have to pack all the extra items for our stay. It made vacationing so much easier. Jo was great to work with. Loved the packet with all the helpful tips of the area. We had a wonderful mini vacation and hope to return some day soon.
