Randall and Bess Morehouse maintain their home base in Hilo, Hawaii; but love to visit Colorado as often as possible. They have a son in Denver and enjoy visiting the city, the mountains, and other sites in the area.
Bess Jennings purchased this house in 2007
The moment we saw this house, we knew it was the 'one.' Sitting up on a slope, it catches gentle breezes and has a lovely view of the town of Golden. The front yard consists of landscaped terraces and the back yard - with no neighbors behind - is perfect for relaxing or entertaining.
The neighborhood, which includes 100 year-old homes, is quiet and charming. We have made many improvements to the property since we purchased it, including stabilizing the foundation, painting interior and exterior, installing new windows, new roofing, and new appliances; including range, washer/dryer, A/C and furnace. We love to walk into town and to stroll along scenic Clear Creek on a regular basis.
Our guests tell us they love to relax and enjoy the view from our new front porch. In the winter, snowy hillsides and city lights are in view, and in the summer July 4 fireworks can be enjoyed. Although the house is an easy 15 minute walk from the Golden main street area, wildlife including deer and fox occasionally visit the property.
I would highly recommend this place. Exceeded our expectations. Beautiful view and everything we wanted for a small family get-together. Wonderful view from the front porch and private patio in back including a fire pit and seeting. The house had a warm and comfy atmosphere. Our family came from all parts of the country and had a wonderful time. Also pet friendly, with everything a pet would need. Although we didn't bring a pet. I look forward to staying there again.
Great experience and will definitely go back.
We literally spent hours just relaxing on the front porch every morning, sipping coffee reading the paper or a book, pausing every so often to look up and enjoy the view of downtown Golden and the mountains around us. The backyard was great in the evenings with the both gas and charcoal grills to choose from, a firepit and plentiful, comfortable seating. Inside, the house was well furnished and well maintained (very nice new windows throughout made it a breeze to enjoy the cool...well...breezes.) And for someone who loves to cook, the kitchen was stocked with hardware and utensils better than any VRBO I've stayed in yet. Two bedrooms: one with two twins beds, one with a queen bed, and a queen sized fold out couch in the living room meant there was plenty of room for the four of us. The owner was warm and responsive before and after our stay, and a cleverly created welcome book in the living room outlined everything we needed to know about the property from the Wi-Fi and cable, to what to do in the area. Having had some challenges with other VRBOs with logistics, I especially loved the electronic keypad lock on the front door so we didn't have to worry about finding the keys when we arrived, remembering to bring them with us whenever we left the house or returning them when we checked out. I just hope this rave review doesn't make it harder for me to find an available weekend next year!
Great house! Great location, close to everything! Would definitely stay here again. They could use a gardener however.
The house was comfortable in a very quiet neighborhood. Plenty of useful kitchen utensils to
Use for cooking. The outside grounds seem to have been neglected. There were rotten apples or some kind of fruit on the side of the house. We swept the back patio and made it look better. It was convenient to downtown golden. Overall. A relaxing place to stay.
Outlet shopping center, Red Rock Amphitheater, Coors Brewery, Colorado School of Mines, numerous historic museums and activities from pioneer days.
