This pet-friendly holiday retreat is perfectly located for enjoying the classic coastal delights of South Devon, and enables families of 4 - 6 to embrace and enjoy a carefree getaway in all seasons.

From the front entrance gate, a stone pathway leads past a sunny lawn and a sheltered sitting area to the glazed front door. Inside, guests are welcomed into an inviting hallway, which is tastefully decorated in a palette of coastal hues. The holiday bungalow offers plenty of space, natural light and an effortless flow that makes it perfect for family get-together's.

Cleverly situated to the rear of the holiday home to make the most of the coastal views, the inviting living room provides a haven for daytime relaxation and evening entertainment. Overlooking the Burgh Island and the beaches at Bantham and Bigbury, guests will enjoy feeling truly inspired by the beautiful year-round backdrop.

Fully WiFi-enabled and furnished with a pair of contemporary lounge chairs and a comfy sofa, guests can snuggle up here in front of the cosy electric fire, and enjoy a favourite movie to the wall mounted flat-screen TV; which is accompanied by a DVD player and movie selection. The picturesque daytime views and ambient appeal of the room also creates a lovely setting in which to enjoy a good book, or a timeless board game. Guests can also enjoy splendid morning breakfasts or sunset meals here, both at the scenic round dining area for 4 or out to a sunny decked terrace through the glazed door.

Leading on through a large archway, guests can easily soak up a carefree self-catering experience from the practical appeal of the adjoining kitchen. Overlooking the front garden and fully-equipped for family stays, the spacious chalky painted kitchen is fitted with an oven, cooker hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge and laundry facilities; to easily tackle a typical family day.

The charming coastal interior continues to delight, within the serenity of the front guest bedroom. Furnished with a set of twin pine beds and finished with a touch of tranquil lavender hues, the scene is set for enjoying a tempting holiday lie-in.

Overlooking the picturesque rear garden, guests will find two further bedrooms. Here a stylish spacious master bedroom features a sumptuous king size bed and an adjoining walk-through third bedroom ideal for children; with its set of pine bunk beds and kid-style interior. The inviting family-friendly layout is further complemented by a contemporary shower en-suite (shared by both bedrooms).

A second family bathroom fitted with a power shower can also be found at the end of the hallway, for extra convenience during your stay.

Outside, families can sit back and soak up some sun within the serenity of the beautiful private garden. Mainly laid to lawn and boasting far reaching coastal views down to the beach and out towards the iconic Burgh Island; the backdrop is enchanting at any time of year.

The garden is also large enough to allow children and pets to stretch their legs and play. Guests also have the perfect excuse to savour a spot of ‘alfresco’ dining here in the summertime; with a BBQ and outdoor dining area to hand.

The quaint coastal bungalow is further equipped with a garage, washing machine, tumble dryer and a landline for making local telephone calls.

Detached on one side the modern holiday bungalow is situated in a charming coastal enclave. For added flexibility, a nearby 4 bed holiday home may also be rented to accommodate larger group sizes (subject to availability).

Booking Notes:

• Cleaning, linen & towels ~ all bed linen & bathroom towels are included in the tariff, Bed linen is changed weekly and the house is only cleaned after departure.

• Beach Towels ~ please remember to bring along beach towels as these are not provided.

• Infants ~ we can arrange the hire of cots or high chairs - please give at least one week's notice if you wish us to arrange this for you. We ask that you supply all the baby bedding yourselves.

• There is a £50 additional tariff per person for the 5th & 6th guests.

• Pet Friendly ~ 1 or 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay for an additional cost of £25 for one and £50 for 2 dogs.

• Smoking ~ in consideration of our non-smoking guests, we regret that Island View Thurlestone is Non Smoking.

A varied range of activities and attractions can also be found in the surrounding area, with the holiday bungalow offering close proximity to the surrounding golf clubs, the treasure trove of nearby walks including the Heritage coastal path and the South West Coastal Path, and the tourist hotspots of Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Dartmouth, the South Devon Steam Railway at Totnes and the Eden Project botanical gardens.

Ideal for soaking up a spot of holiday indulgence, the nearby Thurlestone Hotel and Voyage Spa is also a ‘must’ – with non-residents welcome to come and enjoy the Spa facilities and outdoor pool (limited during July and August). Visitors can also enjoy a round of golf or a game of squash, tennis and badminton. There is winter time membership available too (valid from November-Easter), enabling guests to enjoy the fabulous facilities through-out the year. Full adult members also enjoy a 10% discount off all spa treatments.

Thurlestone is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has won an award from the Marine Conservation Society thanks to its clear, clean waters. But to give you a little extra peace of mind there are lifeguards on duty between May and September. While you’re there, take the time to check out Thurlestone Rock, an ancient arch-shaped formation that was immortalised by Turner and is best seen at high tide.

The South Hams:

The South Hams is only a few miles away and is recognised as being a great place to visit on a day out.

Although the main administrative town is Totnes, there are other towns which are probably more popular for visitors, especially those on holiday. We can suggest some great days out from your Torquay base that will give you a flavour of both the hustle and bustle and tranquility experienced by this region.

The South Hams has the estuary towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe, all well known as places to enjoy fine food and local shopping, not to mention their popularity with boat owners and fishermen.

There are some magnificent beaches such as Beesands and Slapton Sands, which stretches for miles to the rocks reaching around to Start Point.

If you want a great day out (without the car), take a trip to Paignton and catch the Steam Train to Kingswear and then the Ferry to Dartmouth. You could then take a ferry all the way back around Berry Head to Torquay Harbour. This can all be organised through a single ticket from Riverlink.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Island View. The location is excellent for exploring the local area and for walking to the stunning local beaches and the village amenities. The view from the house is stunning.The house is clean and well equipped with a homely feel. The children enjoyed the garden. This was our second stay in the house and we would definitely stay again.

Simply Perfect

We arrived at the holiday Cottage to find it spotlessly clean. The facilities were fantastic with a huge amount of kitchen equipment for cooking etc even though we ate out often.

The location of the property is brilliant with so many lovely walks and many lovely towns and villages just a short drive away.

Overall we strongly recomend this property if you want a totally relaxing holiday but lots to see and do when your'e feeling adventurous

Short Breaks: We offer 3 nights minimum all year round with the exception of July & August where 7 nights is the minimum.

Short breaks are calculated at:

3 nights is 60% of the weekly tariff
4 nights is 70% of the weekly tariff
5 nights is 80% of the weekly tariff
6 nights is 90% of the weekly tariff

• Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome for the additional fee of £25 p/wk each.
• 5th and 6th guests can be added for £50 per guest per week.
• There is an additional Winter Fuel Supplement of £50 which is applied between 31st Oct - 31st March.
