This magnificent loft apartment is set on the 3rd floor in a 15th century Medici Palazzo. The loft apartment is 90sqm (about 1000sqft) with amazingly high ceiling of 5meters (about16ft) high. The ceiling is the original 15th century Florentine wood work (a cassettoni) that has all been finely and painstakingly preserved.
The apartment consists of an entrance hallway which leads you into the loft apartment with 2 huge cathedral windows that let a lot of light in. The flooring is the old Florentine terracotta, there is a small kitchenette with all the amenities necessary in a modern day kitchen. The bathroom has a shower and has all been finished with precious marble. The living area has been decorated with very unique antique Florentine furniture and some of the pieces are masterpieces of the old Florentine craftsmanship. One great example is the dining table that is made of marble inserts, a technique known as 'Scagliola'.
Seeing is believing how welcoming and beautiful this apartment is. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no lift, so there are 70 steps, but it is all well worth the journey to this 'Medici jewel'. The location is exceptional, for you are stones throw to all the Florentine museums and important sites, shops, and bars and restaurants. The building itself is so centrally placed for it was said to have been built by one of the Medici for his French mistress.

I grew up in Florence, and I LOVE my hometown. My wife was born on the east cost of Italy and she felt in love with me while we where sailing. Now we both love to offer our precious loft to people who want to live Florence and his history. We hope you'll enjoy all that Florence has to offer. You'll want to keep coming back
Simone Valenti purchased this apartment in 1997
It’s a short walk to all the main monuments, churches and historical sites of Florence. You are just in the middle of the reinassance town and close to typical florentine restaurants, groceries and shops.
I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely loft apartment for two weeks and it was a wonderful experience. The owner Simone was very professional and helpful throughout the booking process and the stay. The apartment was very well attended and clean. It was very large and spacious. It had everything needed to make my stay perfect. In addition, the location was perfect. It is very close to all things you may want to see, as well as many outstanding restaurants. There is even a wonderful bike shop just around the corner for renting bikes by day or week or for an exciting day trip to the vineyards. (Tuscany Cycle). I would highly recommend this beautiful apartment for a stay in Florence.
This is our fourth time in Italy and our first time using VRBO in this country. It was the best experience and trip so far and what made it extra special was staying at this apartment. Having all that space to unwind in after a long day touring the historic sites, museums and gelaterias made this trip memorable and relaxing. The bed is comfortable. The shower has good water pressure. And the kitchenette was convenient when we wanted to stay in. We went grocery shopping and I had my try at cooking with the local ingredients. We felt like locals. The owner, Simone was helpful and available when we had questions. We are happy that we booked this apartment for our trip. It dispelled all the anxiety that we had going through a private property. This apartment is convenient located at the center of the historic district. We walked everywhere and felt safe. Great restaurants are near by. So much to explore. We couldn't do everything that we wanted to in the two weeks we were there. Don't hesitate to book this place now. It's probably the best decision we've made on this trip
My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at this apartment. It is very well designed and decorated. It is a hike up the stairs, but worth it. Simone was a gracious host, helping us with our luggage. The location is perfect. Great small kitchen - after visiting the markets, we cooked dinner every night we were there.
My husband and I visited Florence for the first time and stayed in this apartment. The place was absolutely lovely, a great size (especially compared to our tiny NYC shoebox), and the perfect location. The place was clean, had everything we needed, and Simone the owner was helpful as well.
After our travel day from hell, it was such a relief to finally get to our fabulous home away from home. We were in constant contact with Simone, updating him on our arrival plans, and he was a gracious host when we finally showed up. The photos on the website do not do this apartment justice. The exposed wood beam ceiling, loft-style bedroom and living space furnishings all make this apartment a great joy. Located 5 blocks from the Duomo, you are never far from any of the major sights and many wonderful meal options. Despite the 67 stairs up to the 3rd floor, my wife and I highly recommend it.
We spent a wonderful week in this charming loft in September, 2011. All was as described though we did not have the use of a computer. We did find a cute cappuccino bar in the neighbourhood however with wifi so with our iPad, we were good to go. Though the walk up seemed daunting at first, we adjusted quickly. It was well worth the climb! Our hosts were more than helpful. They were very gracious, welcoming & generous with information as well as hospitality. We would stay there again without hesitation.
